I don't know the real meaning Shirley Manson put into this song, but I interpret it as someone who was abused by a parent who disguised it as zealous faith. "If holy is as holy does, this house will burn straight down to hell." Sounds like "You preach to me about God, but if this was really about Him, he'd stop what you're doing." Not as articulate as I wanted to sound, but you only get so much space on the comments. :P

I'm 47 and this reminds me of some of the bands that came out of Europe in the early 80's especially Girls School, Motorhead, TalkTalk, and others. It just had that raw, hard rock sound, and real rock before it changed to pop in the mid 80's.

I loved hearing this song in Gran Turismo and always wanted my dad to pick the track it was played on when we raced, but he had the album this song was on and another good album by Garbage released around the same time so I got to grow up on this band and hear this song in the car too.
