This guy is my fav drummer of all time, people are always shocked and surprised when i say that, they always expect you to say Buddy Rich or John Bonham etc,but its his touch, the subtlety, the containment, the small kit,the not too loud, and the fact that he just plays the song, for me he's the perfect rock drummer!!
sorry, just click on your name and there it was.Excuse my oldness, new at this computer stuff Awsome vid, labor of love. Beautiful man. Thanks for sharing it with us. Hauntingly nostalgic.
In honor of Ringo's 70th, I hope U will check out my "RINGO"video. It's very retro with Beatleish touches & was done as a labor of love and with the utmost respect for the Fabs. My attempt at putting a little bit of the Beatle spirit out there for Beatle fans. It's also my tribute to George Harrison's slide playing as well as Ringo's unique style.
Recomiendo el concierto para George video. Great concert.
"Starr reportedly composed the song in 1970. Decades later, he admitted that the song's producer George Harrison "co-wrote" the song (as he did with other hits such as "Photograph.") But controversy still surrounds the assertion that Ringo really wrote the complex and mature song -- especially since demo tapes have surfaced by Harrison where Ringo is completely absent and the song is more or less in its final form."
I don't come easy.
i think all of them do except john... only because he didn't trim his or anything so he looked like a fucking moron with it. george looks like jesus with a beard and paul looks like a hobo. i like it
Sounds like various parts of the bass line were re-recorded/overdubbed for this new release. I mean, Klaus Voorman was Lennon & Harrison's first choice as bass player for their early post-Beatles albums and concerts. Not the best player, but to get someone to play over his original bass lines all over this Bangla-Desh concert is sort of uncool.
Probably cuz it wasn't his lyrics in the first place. I'll never tire of hearing this song, but I really think it was George's tune from start to finish. Wouldn't suprise me if Ringo never saw the lyrics till George put them in front of him for the studio takes.
Teleprompters? How can a singer forget words to their own songs? You've got to be kidding me?
Did Mick Jagger, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Jim Morrison, Eric Clapton, Robert Plant, David Crosby, Neil Diamond, Barbra Streisand, Tom Johnston, Bono, Boy George, Lenny Williams, Phil Collins, etc., etc., ever use teleprompters? You'd have to be stoned out of your mind not to remember your own lyrics.
@metalman1900: How can a singer forget words to their own songs?
By being stoned. Or being nervous, which is the explanation on the 2005 dvd of the concert. Gosh, Dillon was nervous he nearly didn´t play. It was a huge concert, first of it´s kind, and it was Ringos first big hit after the Beatles broke up. Definitely a Harrison finish, but with lots of Ringo beneath.
But looking at the others I think one would get stoned just by sitting near them, so there could be more than one reason. ;)
Quit being so perfect and come back to earth with the rest of us.
this concert was put together in lightning speed with little to no rehearsal.
You can flub lyrics without being stoned out of your mind. What do you do for a living? If you make some mistake, does the company make you pee in a cup to test to see if you are stoned out of your mind?
GeeZ. Go Ringo,Happy birthday.check out his son,who Ringo tried to be a Dr.or lawyer,he's a drummr
This, of course, was back in the days when rock stars did not use teleprompters. Ringo had the lyrics written down (you can see him glancing at his lap just before he muffs the second verse). Unfortunately, he was unable to read what had been written, due to the lighting conditions!
No, but I AM literate and can, thus, read about such things. My original source was "The Beatles: An Illustrated Record" by Roy Carr and Tony Tyler, published back around 1975. In that book they review "The Concert For Bangladesh" and relate the anecdote.
There sure were a lot of hair farmers back then.

Very nice of George to do that for Ringo.
On youtube, there is a video of the demo of the song with only George Harrison singing.
