I really love this. The recording also has a very warm, touching quality to it. I think I have shed a couple of tears listening to this. The timing, the tonal quality, everything is perfect. I absolutely love the Tenor part. But maybe that's because I'm a tenor ;)

Try to hear the rendition of the Lisbon choir. Sure it is a "proper" ensemble and not 6 soloists like here, but I find it way better and more solid. In my opinion the bass line by Singer Pur is quite lame, and the name itself is really unfortunate!!

Well, this arrangement is not exclusively Brahms I suppose, nevertheless very interesting. The tempo might be a little slower, but the articulation is fine, the voices are clear. Thanks for the post, one of the best versions of this German Volkslied here.

Truly awesome! I saw them in concert a couple of days ago and must say this was outstanding! Especially this Brahms tune was done excellently and flawless (as were the other songs performed). A concert visit is highly recommended!
