Tbh, we are wasting our time comparing them... since they played in different positions anyway. Imo ronaldo is first as he was the most reliable (before all the health issues and injuries). Ronaldinho is quite insane, but he doesn't score 3 goals per game. He probably does cooler things than most, but not always successfully. Maradona and Pele were the best of their time, but that's about it.
PS: Maradona didn't play that well either... He had ONE good goal where he solo-ed from the mid-field, but there isn't much more worth watching. Imo, it's R9 > Ronaldinho > Pele as top 3 footballers up to date (based on skill - otherwise you have insane players like roberto carlos or zidane, who are also very high on my list)

Maradona only had one good World Cup, only one foot and only one real move. Many moves players use today were invented by Pele; he had his two feet, and when the finals came he always delivered. Look at his honours list Maradona only won a fraction of what Pele did. Plus after 1990, Maradona won nothing and his game went downhill. Pele retired a champion!

Pele did something even greater; he went to a country that couldn't care less about football and became a superstar. He lead Santos to heights Maradona never even came close to with Napoli. I've seen the clips wih Maradona here, and it's only one move! He used it different times but it was still only one move on one foot!!!! How many times was Napoli world club champion? Did they ever win the European Cup? What about the 1990 World Cup? Where was Maradona? He did nothing.

You really are showing your ignorance here. Pele had more than stepovers. He had a range of dribbles that most players today still can't even perform. Having one move makes you limited; worse if you only have one foot. You think that Messi would match up to R9 or Pele in their prime? I've seen almost all the vids with Maradona, and my opinion stays the same: one move, one foot and one World Cup. Had Pele played in Euope, this debate would never even exist.

That same period from the mid 50s to the early 70s, some of football's greatest grace the world stage:Beckenbauer, Di Stefano, Charlton, Garrincha, Puskas, Eusebio etc. to name a few. It is never disputed that they are among the greatest. As soon as Pele is mentioned as the greatest, you Maradonas present this feeble, pathetic argument. Football may be faster now, but it certainly isn't harder; players have a lot more protection now than then. Look at the vids.

Yes I have thanks to Youtube, and I also saw full matches with Maradona because I was already around. This includes the 1986 world Cup final against West Germany, where he was taken out of the game. Pele in his two finals shone; he delivered. As for 1990, the real hero for Argentina was Goycochea the goalkeeper because of the saves he made in the penalty shoot- outs in the quarters and semis.

agree with you completely, maradona was a football god. i am the biggest ronaldo fan and i believe if he kept the form he had as a young man he might have challenged maradonna for the title of greatest ever. pele was ok but i believe players like zidane and rivaldo were like pele.
pele played in brazil in the 50s and 60s. he played against farmers and stable boys.

Another ignorant comment. The Santos team of Pele's era would beat the clothes off Maradona's Napoli. That team not only had Pele, but also other keys members of Brazil' s national team such as Gilmar and Zito. They never depended on one man, but had a well- oiled unit. Of course they are not given their due props, because they are not a European club, though they schooled the Europeans for years!

I've watched ronaldo play so many times (I used to live in brazil) and the guy is a GOD! Until he got injured after 2000 or so, then he took a long break from football and came back a bit "scared" of being injured again. Nevertheless, he was the best scorer I have ever seen. When he had the ball, nothing could stop him from scoring. C.R probably misses 8 certain goals before scoring once.
