  • My sister and her boyfriend listen to the crappyest teenager music I have ever heard; so while they're listening to that... stuff :/... I go into my room, door shut, lights off, and listen to this genius!

  • It's like the music goes straight to my brain, takes control of my nerves, and tickles my senses. What a Godly feeling.

  • the video, with this man directed something, is very strange... it does a very strange atmosphere... but this is very beautiful !

  • amazing

  • very otherworldly.

  • Hey, I read your bio on your website, and I'm a bassoonist working on a bachelor of music composition degree, so it was really cool to hear that you started on such an interesting instrument and moved to an even more interesting one. Do you still play bassoon at all? Anyway, you're an inspiration to musicians for bringing awareness to the theremin, I dig your videos and hope you continue making great music.

  • Wonderful :-)))

  • really......really beautiful........

reminds me a lot of wolf's rain...

  • i hate the theremin

  • beautiful and haunting

  • Simply Beautiful

  • I like your sound in this tune. Wonderful play!

  • I never suspected that theremin can sound so beautiful till i watched this video. You are an amazing musician.

  • You've improved a lot! Good job and keep it up.

  • very impressive song, you truly do not see enough theremin around, and its so beautiful in the right hands there should be more, continue the good work my friend, i look forward to more beautiful music

  • ahh..for a second, i thought there was a woman singing!

  • Beautiful music, and I like the creative use of blurring to add affect to the song

  • i'm literally going to fall asleep to this tonight. be best rest ever.

  • This thing is cool!! It sounds like a perfect median between the violin and the human voice! And you feel like a wizard when you play it! :P

  • I liked how you filmed yourself blurred in the background as a shadowy figure it goes well with the song- you have a great thing going with the theremin Randy

  • thats just beautifull..

  • this piece sounds A LOT better than your zelda one, the piano helped giving a backing for ur music... good job

  • Wonderful.

  • Thank you. This is one of my favorite pieces and songs, and it's great hearing it on such a unique instrument that few people have truly excellent control of. Excellent job.

  • Amaizing!

  • What a deep, beautiful tone!

I wish my theremin could get that tone. It made my snare drum vibrate a few feet away :P

    Nice piece and playing. :)

  • Randy George must get all the ladies...

  • lolololololololol

  • this is so... wow :)

  • This vid took some serious stress off of my shoulders. I wish I could find more great music like this in today's market.

  • i expected an applause at the end of that, sounded as though a large audience should have started clapping. love the theremin

  • I love how good you control all the pitches and the transitions between them

  • led zep used one

  • look it up on wiki

    ill bet you anything

  • What song should i look for?

  • whole lotta love

  • so beautifull! I think your style fit Japanese classic, too. "Kojo no Tsuki" or "Hamabeno Uta".

  • Because of its ability to bend pitches, I'm really surprised that no one's studied Indian classical music on the theremin. Peace.

  • It's probably hard enough to play western music right. But i've thought of that as well.

  • This video is what inspired me to learn the theremin. Thank you so much for posting it. What a gorgeous performance.

  • After surfing around a bit it seems that you have the best feel for hitting pitch. With great feeling.

  • This was used for an AV here on youtube about my 'Bluebell Hearse' It is a lovely piece of music.

  • i never would have even thought about a classical theremin and now i am a total advocate of advancing it.

  • Absolutely loving this.

  • randy you set up the visual awesome here. I love all your stuff marry me and make theremin playing babies.

  • i think this song is in hitman blood money but im not possitive

  • wow

  • Really amazing. The tone is almost trombone-like, and the mood you create is truly wonderful. It is so easy for the Theremin to overpower and distract from the artistry of a piece with it's unique sound, but you have tamed it beautifully.

  • I am thoroughly impressed with you skill! It's really amazing, the beautiful music you're able to produce on an instrument that's not well known.

By the way, a remix of this song was used for the ending theme of the Gunslinger Girl anime. Great remix.

  • At first, I thought the Gunslinger Girl ending was Italian. O.o

  • same here.

  • Georgeous! I think I'm a fan now :D

  • good but the theremin should be louder, we hear the piano too much... i play cello, and this piece is originally written for cello. I found this work of music fantastic, and you play it well it in ryhtm. I would like to know more about theremin, though. it looks like a fascinating instrument and i had never heard about it. i get really little from the way it works. anyway, it's amazing

  • Just a correction. Piece is originally for voice and piano.

  • hear hear...

the original lyrics are beautiful, as is this song... a surprisingly refreshing sound here.. 4/5

  • Very, VERY well done. You had me listening to this one for a good hour. Just...Its...I can't put it into words how well these were done. Of course the song itself helps, but steady hands, a lot of skill, heart and soul help to create these wonderful masterpieces you've come up with. You inspire me still... The scene I have here;

My mountain view, wonderfully done music (this one) in the background, it just gets me thinking...

Great job once again! You fail to disappoint me.

  • That was beautiful. I used to sing this song myself and was curious to see what you'd make out of it. I did wonder, at first, why you didn't play it one octave higher...but you changed at one point; personally I preferred the sound from that point onwards. I sang this a bit faster myself - I tried out different tempos and found a faster one suited me - but the slower tempo suits the sound of theremin quite well.

  • Wow! Just VERY, VERY COOL !!!!!

  • It must of took a little while to learn how to play all those songs. Well done! xD

  • Amazing...I applaud you sir.

  • Very nice, good intonation and tone. I like the shadow cast on the wall,it adds an artistic look to the video.

  • Very very f****** good! I just bought a theremin and i don't know how to tune my theremin (standard theremin moog). I put the pitch controller to 2 o'clock but i am not sure if this is the right position. Can you please help me?

  • Randy--the Takeuchi piano track as you use it has a much quicker tempo than Masami's original. With what software did you alter it? (I would expect untoward artifacts with such a severe change in tempo, but it sounds quite clean.) --ALSO: What do you think of concocting an updated version of this song for the ecstasy age: APRE UN _RAVE_?

  • (Oops--I meant to say "APRES," not "APRE.")

  • Eliot, great question. I've invested in some really great audio software. Digidesign X-Form is what i use most of the time. It's capable of some serious time and pitch stretching. I also use Ableton Live which also has great time compression and expansion algorithms. I recorded Apres Un Reve again on Sunday, but it's audio only, no video.

  • it sounds sort of eerie but in a good way it is very good.

  • you are amazing. now i have a theremin role model..

  • wow, that sounds fantastic! very precise - you must have practiced a lot to be this disciplined.

  • Amazing and great instrument! i`m looking for one, here in Poland, but can`t find :/ You can make very elastic sound. GREAT!

  • It is very good. I just ordered a theremin kit.

  • I've made a theremin from a kit with help of a teacher at my school, it works backwards, so the futher you take your hand away the Higher the pitch, sounds like white noise and the volume plate effectivly changes the pitch aswell, backwards...

I'm getting a Proper one from Moog for my Birthday, so it's ok!

But the kits are a waste of money in my opinion, but let me know what happens

  • you are ace!

  • this is such amazing music

  • I'm looking to getting started in the theremin world, but the Moog one is too expensive. I've been recommended the Kees Enkelaar, but I don't know where I can buy it. Do you have any ideas? Please not I live in the United Kingdom. Thanks!

  • Absolutely beautiful! cheers mate & keep up the good work!

  • That was amazing.

Well played, well felt with a simple and powerful vid to go with it.

    nice work.

  • What Annaconda said, i thought the crazy one was good.. this is even better

  • wow this was beautiful

  • Thats nice.

  • Really great, continue your progression, very nice

  • muy bueno, la verdad... excelente! felicitaciones loco! un groso de verdad!

  • Wow, for a minute there, I thought I heard Annie Haslam! Very good

  • Fantastic!!! I don't think most people realise how hard a theremin is to play--let alone this piece! Great Job!

I have a feeling this guy is gonna be one of the premiere

Theremin players in the world, very shortly.

  • Wow. Your use of expression and control of pitch is enviable in this piece. Strikingly clear projection. Fantastic. A good piece of music all around.

  • wow...creepy. u did well. i sing this song for college juries, and it's not easy...i can't imagine on an instrument like this one...

  • wow i was listening to alot of other theremin videos and this has to be the best songs all the rest just kinda triped me out. lol

  • Randy, why did you decide to tape this out of focus and in silhouette?

  • I was going for a mysterious, dreamy look to the video. Also, it was a cheap effect using my old iSight camera and a program called iGlasses that changes the camera to macro focus mode. And lastly, I didn't want people to have to look at the junk in my apartment so I angled the camera toward the ceiling for nicer backdrop. Tada!

  • I can see where you are coming from with the zelda comment, hehe sounds like someone singing to epona by the great fairy! This is the second video i've seen with a theremin as the instrument the first being Zelda theme :P

  • Definately 5 stars from me.

    Very good.

  • just cool!

  • Sounds inspired by music from "Legend of Zelda"

  • Perhaps the other way around. Gabriel Faure wrote this piece 120 some years before Koji Kondo created the Legend of Zelda theme.

  • Oh, I thought it was an original. My bad! Very well played.

  • I am happy I subscribed for your channel a while ago :) Theremins just doesn't get much more cool than this!

  • yumyumyum

  • Dam, your talented!

I want to hear more of your work.

    Do you take requests?

I'd love to hear Stranger on the Shore done whit a theremin.

  • Beautiful sounds;)

    Thank you.

  • Mmmm... that's really good. Five stars ... thanks!

  • Thank you very much. Wonderful performance. Keep them coming.

  • wow you just keep getting better and better!

    beautifully compelling performance!

    <3

  • bravo... bravo!!! simply Amazing.

  • Clara Rockmore could not have done better. This is your best performance yet.

  • Never knew that a theremin could sound so wonderful! Waiting eagerly for the next one :)

  • That is very classy.

  • Beautiful. Very well done!

  • Nice cinematic set up as well.

  • Lovely musicianship.

  • Hey, would it be possible to obtain this in an mp3 file? I'd love to listen to this all the time.

  • I deposited the song in my myspace music player for download. check out the video description for where to go!

  • Cool, thanks!

  • Excellent work! Five stars!

  • Beautiful. I wish i had a theremin.

  • very nice !! great intonation sir.

  • Keep up the great work! :D

  • brilliant !

    love it, really good job

  • My favorite so far. Theremin really works well on this one.

  • Beautiful, well done!

  • great, really great

  • beautiful Randy. you are a true artist.

  • Very nice! I hope I eventually get as good as you. This encourages me to practice, practice, practice...because right now, I pretty much suck! Thanks for yet another great vid!

  • Simply beautiful. Really enjoyed.

  • Wonderfull. Keep it up.

  • Man, that was awesome!

    10 stars!!

  • beautiful! sounds the best out of all your vids excellent!!

  • one of the best ones you've posted yet.. love it mate.

  • that was amazing. glad I'm one of the first people to hear it and since 3 people have said it before me, Wow

  • wow. so seldomly do you hear something so emotionally stirring played on a theremin.

    well done :]

  • wow...very impressive. You have amazing control over the theremin.

  • Wow. Your playing sounds like a soprano. I never thought a theremin could do that.

  • first!

cool, as usual ... although I must admit I like it better when you cover popular stuff... ie: crazy, zelda theme...
