Obviously UCD students don't have enough to do if they have time to start a riot over something like this. Campus cops function more like a parental extension than big city cops. The mob mentality of the onlookers was ridiculous. They would be the first ones calling the cops if they were knocked down by a reckless cyclist.
If this young man was my grandson, he'd be pulling weeds in my garden all day for being disrespectful to someone in authority.
I'm sorry, but "bad attitude" is not a crime. If he wasn't getting a ticket, then he wasn't "resisting arrest" either. Just more Davis cop ball-swinging, in my opinion. And I'm so proud of our little civil disobedients.

What should the cop have done? It wasnt like he was giving everyone a ticket. He warns you, you get off an walk for 30 seconds, get back on the bike, and ride away. Its when people like this kid try to act like they dont have to listen to the cop that trouble starts. Did he deserve to get arrested for riding his bike across the quad? No. Did he deserve to get arrested for running from the cops? TWICE? Absolutely and, IMO, he should be punished for it. Its morons like this that end up on COPS!!!
I was there when it happened. The cop was parked near the Quad and warning kids to get off their bikes. The kid went right by the cop, blowing him off and the cop chased him. The kid went around the grass and looped back into the Quad where he was caught. The cop was just going to talk to him but the kid tried to break away and run, which is when the cop brought out the handcuffs. Its the kids fault for running away to begin with. All he had to do was walk the bike for 20 ft but he's stupid.
maybe the cops tried that and the kid got an attitude problem. Maybe they stopped to talk to him and found out he had some sort of warrant. Maybe most people there could have minded there own damn business and let the cops handle there business
Wow ucd cops. That's why we now have the creeper that rides around on the quad like a hall monitor. They must be the cops too pussy for a real job.
