  • Can I ask what the cost was? I'm thinking of digging a 2 acre but they want $20/k. I found an old D8 cat and JD exc. for $20/k. I think I can do it myself and save money. I hand dug test holes and hit clay at 6 feet. Just not confident I can do it myself.

  • It costs about $10K an acre plus any tree clearing work that needs to be done first. It took these guys a long time to dig the hole and line it with the clay and build the dam. There was a lot of diesel fuel usage as well....when diesel was $4.50 a gallon!

The contractor was John Bly 936-523-1976 he was nice to work with, honest and did what I wanted him to do. I would recommend him if you are in the North Houston area.

  • We were looking at building a 2 acre pond at our ranch putting down bentonite to keep it from leaking. How long did it take them to dig it? We were looking at doing it ourself and just wanted to know how long to take off work to ride on a dozer? Thanks

  • It took the whole month of February but if it was not raining everyday I would bet they could have finished in a week. It was a total mud pit!

  • mine is 4 acre

  • lol nice
