  • Gaaah, goosebumps and a tear to my eye.. I'm proud to be British :')

  • Hi buddy, i need some footage of the Reds as im making a complimation video of them, and wanted to make it in memory of Jon & Sean aswell, being a photographer ive only got stills from airshows of the jets, but really wanted video to go into it. if i gave you my email, could you send the video to me, and i will be happy to feature your name & channel in the credits :)

  • @17GAZZANIKON Feel free to use it. I don't have the source video anymore, but there are plenty of tools, websites or browser add-ons that will let you save Youtube videos as mp4 video.

  • @bryUK

nice once cheers mate! im guessing by your pic you play AC assult horizon? great game!!

  • @17GAZZANIKON Just a bit, lol. Have a look through my channel and you'll find full playthroughs of AC 4, 5, 0, X, 6, Joint Assault and Assault Horizon. Some more real live aviation related videos in there as well.

  • @bryUK

ahh nice will do, i remeber playing the original Air Combat all the way back in 1998! ace game! if you have a look on my channel, i have some footage of F-15's taking off at RAF Lakenheath that i shot :)

btw love the video, gotta love the reds! i met the team back in october last year, very friednly Guys, they done a charity cycle ride in Jons memory. It upsetting to hear about Sean's accident just weeks after i met him :( he was so friednly, but Both Jon & Sean will be remeberd :)

  • the best aerobatic teams together italian " frecce tricolore"

  • @vestitodivuoto Heh... you really picked the wrong video to say that on. Begone.

  • i watched them in uhh blackpool or clackton i think, and i never go an autograph!

  • love how relaxed they were before they took off

  • I don't like much of what humanity has done, especially including the machinery side of things....but out of all the bad...the Red Arrows are absolutely incredible and and incredible symbol of good old Blighty!

  • hi you wanna see whats flying across the screen as the arrows leave bournemouth download it play it on vlc and play it at its slowest setting and watch very carefully ....

  • OMG they are sooooo cool!

  • red arrows are raw machines, might not be capable of high speeds but its just man and machine, no computers interfering. Red arrows are a symbol of Britain and make me proud to be from this tiny island

  • that thunderbird lass is hot

  • Unbelievable! These guys are the best of the best!

  • whats the song that starts at 1:35???

please can someone tell me thanks!

BTW the best airshow by far...

  • R.I.P Red 4 aka Eggman. You will be dearly missed.

  • Love the red arrows and this is a great video well done :)

  • outstanding

  • The shot towards the end of the arrows initiating the heart shape, and the crowd realizing what it's all about and then breakign out into applause followed by a wide-angle, full view finale of the lonely Red "Arrow" piercing the heart is stunning... Have been watching it again and again. Beautiful.

  • Good to see the relationship is strong and respectful between all teams.

RIP Jon Egging today, very sad day. :(

  • R.I.P Flt Lt Jon Egging....Red 4 HERO

  • i tought the thunderbirds were fly-by-wire? guess not, and were r the snowbirds frm?

  • @soapychowder The Thunderbirds are Fly-By-Wire, as are the Blue Angels.

    All F-16s and F/A-18s are.

The Snowbirds are the Canadian national team. CF = Canadian Forces.

  • @bryUK thanks mate, so those americans are the engineers and stuff, not the pilots?

  • @soapychowder They are still pilots. There are various degrees of computer control in Fly-By-Wire aircraft. The F-16 and F/A-18 can be controlled manually if the computers fail. Aircraft like the Eurofighter Typhoon and F-22 Raptor cannot.

Fly-By-Wire doesn't mean the jets are un-manned, it just means the direct mechanical links between the controls and surfaces are replaced by lighter wires and electronic signals.

  • @bryUK wow, your good.

  • right. I saw Red Arrows for the first time today, left me speechless. they are unbelievable and I will see him again if I have the chance, it is a must do. 9 best pilots imaginable.

  • Amazing :) its justamazing! :) going to see them today

  • HOw soon before our Anti British Establishment scarp the Red arrows too

  • The Red Arrows. Amazing.

  • The reds preforming infront of the sunset... beautiful!

    wish i could fly :(

  • beautiful music at 1:45 and onwards.....

    anyone know the name?

  • 4:11 Beautiful! Glad to be British with the red arrows to our name! Well done to the US pilots too!

  • @Elitepoosniff

Well, you clearly know a great deal about this sort of thing. By the way, do you know the corner velocity of the Hawk at 5,000 agl and the G's the demo pilots would pull?

    Just interested.

  • @YD8189 Please, its better not to feed or bait the trolls. I clean up some of this less appropriate nation bashing ones from time to time.

  • @bryUK

    You're right.

I sometimes have a knee jerk reaction to people who, at this time, when it's critical for decent people to join together to defeat those who would put a dagger to our liberties, who get a buzz out of sowing discord.

  • @Elitepoosniff

The kind of display put on by a team is determined by the aircraft flown. The Hawk T1A has an empty weight of about 10,000 lbs and a climb rate of less than 10,000 FPM. The F16's empty weight is almost twice that and climbs at 50,000 FPM with an engine that delivers 17,000 lbf dry thrust as compared to the Hawks 6,500 lbf dry.

These are just some of the numbers that factor into the dispay a team will perform.

But "the best in the world". It's a big world.

  • I AM PROUD TO BE BRITISH!!!!!!!!

  • @lambertalexchurch30 They ARE training jets. The Hawk T.Mk 1A. The T stands for "Trainer" in British military parlance.

The Blue Angels' F/A-18's twin engines produce 17,750 lbs of thrust at max reheat, having a thrust to weight ratio of 0.96

The Hawk T1A's single engine produces a mere 5200 lbs at max power, with a thrust to weight ratio of 0.64

  • @bryUK not really that bothered about it but fair point, didnt realize

  • 1:47 spoilers are down. Since the spoilers on the Hawk are on the underbelly.

However the Red arrows have to be the best display team in the world.

  • @LionInTodayFilms Technically its the airbrake. Spoilers are located on an aircrafts wings, and so called because the 'spoil' the airflow over them. Spoilers are more about directly reducing lift rather than speed (though that is often a side effect), which is why they are also known as Lift Dumpers.

Airbrakes are about increasing drag without affecting lift.

  • @bryUK Could not remember the exact name- there are lots of different names for air brakes.

  • @LionInTodayFilms Just pointing out that airbrakes and spoilers are completely different things that do different jobs on an aircraft. =)

  • @bryUK They put it down to make the smoke look better

  • @LionInTodayFilms

Unless I'm missing something, I don't see the three feet of seperation the "Blues" and "Thunderbirds" strive for.

As a matter of fact, the narrator talk about six feet of seperation.

For my money "The Blues", because they have to maintain expertise as carrier pilots, with night IFR and "pitch-deck" operations are in a league of their own.

Anyone who has flown jets in the military will tell you Carrier ops--particularly at night--are as nasty as combat.

  • @YD8189 They are very different types of displays flown in different ways. Although the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds fly closer formations, bear in mind that those formations feature less aircraft, especially the Blue Angels with 5 aircraft instead of 9. They are also more static in nature, ie they don't switch from one formation to another as often or as rapidly. This is pointed out by the pilots themselves.

Not really a matter of one being better than the other, just different styles.

  • All this arguing between Americans and Brits. Let's be glad that the Taleban/Al Queada scum don't have as good pilots as we do!

  • omg the red arrows just flew over my house and them acrobatics omg awesome

  • @skyloo5849 They literally just flew over my house as well! No acrobatics though :/

  • heh, their radio commands sound more like painful bowel movements. Am I right?

  • Makes you proud to be british!

  • @Mafiyoso Agreed! <3

  • 3:08 INSERT COCK HERE

  • 2:15 LOOK AT THAT NIGGA

  • i love them there great

  • Awesome. Absolutely awesome.

  • to be hounest ive seen them fly localy, didnt really notice formations out of place lol, it dont supprse me to see somtimes the formations go out of sync, all due respect, its 9 planes they are keeping in formations

  • I have respect for and love all four teams. My favorites are theThunderbirds. I enjoy watching the f16 fly more than the f18. the problem is see is that the Red Arrows are always loose in their formations, not just when they are in moderate flying weather. GO EVERYONE

  • All this whos better than who?

The american pilots...... and the british pilots seemed to show alot of support for each other there...... why can't the public be the same..... we fight the same battles.... we help each other out........ We're not enemys.... how about we start acting like it?....

  • @wharfedale2007 I know on another video an American was saying the British pilots were crap, and the RAF are crap aswell, but their really not. If you see how USA and GBR are with each other in war you see something in them we don't, kindness they apprectiate each others help. In the navy they train side by side, we sell USA guns and planes blueprints, train soldiers, they all like it. Yet the public are like were better than you BS. This video proves the people who matter don't mind each other.

  • Top class makes me real proud,... :-),

  • @thetruebrit85 the best part is that there British and great!

  • awwww the thunderbirds are so nice :) cheering them on :) didn't see the blue angels do that -.-' arrogance

  • But yeah im not joking. Britain, USA and Canadians are like brothers. No need for arguments. We all need eachother.

  • I have seen the Red Arrows, Thunderbirds and Blue Angles perform and would love to see them perform at next years air show at MCAS Cherry Point so I could finnaly see them.

  • I am a fan of red arrows and i sant to see them in Norway

  • @123456789pot well, its the Blue Angels fault if they didnt win, they can easily try and change jets to training ones, they may have a chance of winning then

  • @123456789pot well, its the Blue Angels fault if they didnt win, they can easily try and change

  • i have to give to the reds on that 1 brilliant stuff

  • i have to give to the reds on that 1 brilliant stuff

  • @123456789pot when you have flown f 18 and the hawk i would agree but the hawks stabilty is shocking

  • If you liked that - come over to our channel and see The official Red Arrows simulator ride

  • 9 aircraft at once doing all that, amazing.

  • The red arrows are da bomb!

  • I live near the Red arrow's base so get to see them training often :)

  • I think that the Red Arrows are the best Aerobatic Team in the World. However, The planes they fly are used as 'training' planes in the RAF. Whereas the Blue Angels use F-16's. IMO Both Teams are excellent and so are the others.

  • @SKSlcobbz Th eblue angels use f-18s not f-16s

  • You cannot say which of the two is better as they both have a completly different style of flying

  • Both the Blue Angels and the Red Arrows are a phenomenal display of precision flying. I think we do a disservice to them and our countries by bickering about who is better. I am amazed watching either of them.

  • I have respect for any display team due to the dangers but the red arrows are simply the best.

  • Brilliant flying and brilliant support too from the other pilots and audience.

Please check out the Indian Air Force Suryakirans the other 9 aircraft team apart from the Red Arrows and the Canadian Snowbirds :)

  • I think that all the teams are .....EPIC

  • HANDS DOWN THESE GUYS ARE THE BEST IN THE WORLD!

  • I've seen the red arrows on a number of occassions now and it just makes you so proud to be british. They really are the best at what they do and you can tell from the reactions of the other crews pilots that they think so aswell. fantastic relationship between all the crews you can tell how much they all respect eachother.

  • wow they are good didnt even think of them but was good to see ty for vid

  • Damn, that brings a tear to the eyes!

  • It's funny that the red arrows pilots rivalry with the blue angles pilots is nothing but admiration where as on here it can be like WW3!

They all seemed to really enjoy watching the other teams performances, which seems to show that neither team considers themselves superior.

  • No just The RAF Red arrows are better get over it.

  • The Red Arrows are the best air display team ever

  • The Heart was a real cool touch

  • nice desplay

  • poor Snowbirds.. cannot keep up with the Blue Angels or the Red Arrows.

    both fantastic teams!

  • The UK and The US, two brilliant nations in every way, the friendship between the two countries is just something else. Im english and when i visited the US, everyone was so friendly, because of the fact that i was english! the US and British airforce are unstoppable.

  • @lildanc

but most people would have you believe we hate British people and if you came here we'd be rude... ah so many dumb lies people say about us.

As for this I respect Red arrows just as much as Blue Angels and Thunderbirds. All great teams no point comparing them they do different stuff. Mostly all these comments boil down to is ( my country team is best!... )

  • i love the red arrows.

  • Perfection! I just love the respect the British and American pilots show each other. I cannnot stand this 'our's is better than yours' attitude. I am in awe of all thes amazing pilots!

  • Just watched aBlue Angels vid and I'm impressed with both equally.

    So dangerous, amazing skills.

  • Amazing !

  • just love the ending of this vid

  • WOW... that is awesome!

  • I love the feeling I get when I watch Airshows .. GOOSEBUMPS!

  • Makes you proud to be British :')

  • I love these chaps. Every time I see them I get a bit emotional and patriotic. We were driving on the motorway once when they shot past in formation really low next to us, then they did all the manouvers right above our heads. That's a great thing about them, in England you will encounter them sometime wherever you are, and for a moment people and towns will just stop and look on in awe. Got to feel some pride there!

  • Thunder Birds! Awesome. Did Blue Angels show up? I think I saw some pilots in bright blue flight suits. Awesome.

  • Thunderbirds = US

    Angels = US ?

    Red Arrows = British ?

comment me if im wrong :)

  • lol @ 0:41 haha

  • do you have the full video of this programme?

  • I'm really not especially fond of the 'who is better than who' comments, even if they are somewhat inevitable in youtube comments.

It is not quite so straight forward. While the Blues have the advantage of equipment like a HUD and Fly-by-Wire, the Hawk is a very stable aircraft and very responsive itself.

Even with the computer assistance, it takes an exceptional pilot to keep the F/A-18 in check.

Its more... shall we say 'twitchy' than the Hawk.

  • With that said, I suppose the I would look at the number of accidents both teams have suffered, and how many fatalities have resulted.

A total of 5 Red Arrows have died since 1969 (None since 1971)

Since 1969, 10 Blue Angels have died.

Consider the Reds fly a larger formation of more aircraft, ie there have been more Red Arrow pilots than Blue Angel pilots in that time frame with half the fatality rate.

The Blue Angels may be more spectacular, but there is certainly a price to be paid for it.

  • @bryUK Where is this film from?

  • Brilliant sportsmanship from everyone. Lovelly

  • I just like to see the absolutely minute flying precision of the Blue Angels, their consistency, and rock solid tight formations. You can see a lot of jostling and bouncing in the red arrows formations.

Just two different kinds of show, I like the one that shows off the precision of military aviation, the red arrows display a different side.

  • I appreciate your candidness on this one, but please remember that weather is also a factor for all teams.

No team, no matter how good, can do anything about turbulence jostling the formation slightly, and weather is pointed out as an issue by the Thunderbirds team.

  • The red arrows perform more difficult formations that the angels. The angels tend to fly close in straight lines or very wide formaitions. If the arrows just flew in straight lines they wold probably touch wing tips

  • Now i love the angels, and of course I'm biased, now the red arrows are phenomenal, however, they fly trainer planes, while the angels fly full fledged fighters

  • Though that is not particular relevant to aerobatics per se.

That is probably the major difference between the two teams, the Red Arrows have a far greater emphasis on formation aerobatics, especially using all 9 aircraft., whereas the bulk of a Blues display is a 4 aircraft formation with the two solos.

And of course that brings us to scale.

The Blues do indeed fly full fledged fighters, but that's more expensive, so there are only 6 of them.

    So that's the objective overview.

  • blue angels are simply out of this world, yet so r the Red Arrows and the Thunder Birds in their own class and style. These three remarkable aerobatic teams make the best of our moments when we all wish we were one of them. Great Flying!

  • @aaron8862006 imagine if the red arrows flew eurofighters. that would be awesome!

  • @TheFlyingPineapple - Ewwwwww... ugly.

  • @aaron8862006 Yeah, they would look hidious, but think of what they could do!

  • wOw WOW wOw

    Indeed, dear Tjopp!

    *} M

  • They are both great teams and i have upmost respect for both sets of pilots, indeed all display teams. But havin seen all of them perform on many occasions, the Red Arrows are the only team that makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck.

  • I understand what your saying and of course as you say you have a bias towards the Angels as you live near by. But the Arrows fly the BAE Hawk and the the Angels the F-18 both VERY diff aircraft and what can be achieved during an airshow. Oviously the F-18 is faster but its less manoverable as you can see from both displays. I dont care how a pilot walks to his aircraft or exits it or how he walks, but i do appreciate in-air pilot skills and i really do think the Arrows are so much accompplished

  • yea the red arrows are good but the BLUE ANGELS are better they fly 18 inches apart not 6 feet

  • Don't try to stir trouble.

And take into consideration a difference between a formation of 9 aircraft instead of 6.

Also, the super-close Blue Angels diamond only involves 4 aircraft and is not changing formation every few seconds.

Best to just acknowledge they are very different types of displays both flown to exceptional levels of airmanship, rather than start a childish argument.

My youtube page isn't a schoolyard.

  • no I agree with you they are good I was stateing the diffrences in how they preform but I guess I could have worded it diffrently

  • Yes you could have, since saying one team is better than the other is hardly the same as saying they perform differently. :P

  • Touché.then again I guess I'm biased as we all have the right to be especially when it comes to the prides of our countrys

  • Well from what iv seen (and iv seen both teams perform in person on MANY occasions) the Blue Angels as good as they are, are no way near as precise as the Red Arrows in formation and do get kinda sloppy. AND im neutral as im not British or American. I would gladly pay money to watch the Red arrows everyday of the week over the Blue angels. (my opinion)

  • i saw the red arrows in langley virginia. they sure put on a better show than the usualy f-16 thunderbirds usuly do.

  • Amazing.....great show....realy experts*********

  • I was at this very show and I cannot believe that I never saw this programme! lol

All the teams were the best I have ever seen them and its a shame that the Angels were not there to display their routine.

For me, the Red Arrows stole the show. The crowd were seriously pumped for the Reds and they got the most praise and agilation. Ive seen all of the top teams in the world now and still, no one has ever beating the Red Arrows for class. The Angels are close though!

  • the worlds best thats what britain is about

  • @LfcGoddardENGCJG well said

  • i remember watching this on Five along time ago but i cant remember who won ???

  • It wasn't actually a competition. =P

But as said in the video, the Red were invited to perform the evening display slot, which you can consider the 'prime' slot of the show.

That can have as much to them being a rare visitor though. Because they were simply different compared to the North American teams present.

  • @bryUK the americans even thought the arrows were the best .

  • bryUK i reckon they listed who came in in what places ? :p canada been last..

  • in the actual telly program that is.

  • Nope, and it was repeated recently as well.

  • Comment removed

  • I would have loved to have been there to see that. Being British I have a soft spot for the Reds of course, but lets face it, every one of those teams at that show are wonderful at what they do (never seen the Angels "live" in routine yet though!). Good stuff!

  • Likes like pilots have a real camaraderie thing going on with each other. Cool,

  • Shows that the British Airforce must be the best out of the four as they were invited to fill the evening slot infront of the society ! England rule the aerobatic world in style =]

  • love the non competitiveness. made me smile a smiley smile :)

  • I've seen the Reds in Sunderland. They can do even better than on this film. :)

  • The reds seemed to go down well over there! nice to see and id love to see the thunderbirds in person!!

  • STUNNING!!! WOW!!

  • The camera man liked that woman in red.

  • Does anyone have an idea where I can get the song of this movie and how it is named?

  • hale brtiana birtiania rule the world

    of aerobatics

  • My national pride is doing overtime lol

  • @Nallenbot Our boys! Something still left in the UK to be proud of. There is respect between pilots of different nations and it's a example that more people should follow.

  • Those Blue angels have a great sense of humour. I have never seen them perform, but their personality is great. And that woman is gorgeous

  • Those were the Thunderbirds :)

But the Blue Angels are equally precise and classy if not more so.

  • oops, my mistake :(

  • Absolutely fantastic stuff!

Good to see that pilots from all over the world admire and respect their exceptional skill!

  • The brits really know how to handle a bird.

  • Hahaha, they sure do... I cant complain.!

And the Red Arrows are marvellous! ; )

  • The Blue Angles have better jets so can do more show boating but goddam those red arrows are brilliant. Imagine if they had the jets that USBA's have. They would wipe the floor with them

  • i there is a reason that they dont change planes and that is because the hawk is a damn good plane and it suits their needs.

  • @FISHURMOMBALL

well i guess they dont always need a big powerful super jet or whatever. that just proves that bigger isnt always better
