God lord...what memories songs like this one you get when you listen again after more 30 years when you where young.!
I just love to listen to this song everytime Ive heard on radio ,then later on I just have to get the Lp,s..and now 30 years later I still have the same original Lp,s stored in my Vinyl LP collection among the over 500 LP,s from those good old times when music was Music ..and not like that" crap" nowdays you hear on the radio.
p.s. Gaga's music sucks, man. Trust me on this. Listen to a couple songs for yourself. You don't want to criticize her without truly knowing what she sounds like. Disliking an image isn't a good reason to dislike the artist's music. I'm not saying she can't sing. Sure she can. A cacteau can mimic a song too, but would I call that good quality? haha.
@buddahiscool You asked who is the lead singer? It is the great Dennis Locorriere, from New Jersey. He is living in the U.K. and still performs as a single. Still has his beautiful voice, and his likes to write songs and he has a new poem book just published. He has a son living in California who is in the acting business. I have always said he is the greatest white soul singer on the planet. There are over 100 songs by him on You-Tube. Some are really dreamy. Some are funny.
i grew up in the 80's but my parents and uncle listened to dr. hook. Now i've been listening to them more than music thats out now. Their music is so great. Love songs beyond compare.
I remember being SO turned on by this song and the girl I was dancing with...I was 13 years old. Now I am sad to say but my children will have to put up with Lady gaga, whatever that is, avril lavegn, however you spell it,and the likes...I really feel bad for them.
What's sad is the "everything" girls. There's many girls in this (de)generation that love everything in music. They can go from Gaga to Dr. Hook to Christina to Tom Petty to Tupac to Brittany to Styx to Eminem. I just don't get it. Beware: the "everything" girls. It's dangerous to like all music.
@AntiquatedPoet I guess I don't get whatever it is you are saying. However I DO like most all music, and that is wrong why? I tend NOT to listen to Lady Gaga just because I think she looks too weird so I assume her music is to. I am probably wrong but...I also like stuff like Fear Factory, Third Day and yes even SOME Justin Beiber. My feeling is simple, If you don't like it...Change the channel.
My point was clear: it's detrimental to like ALL music. Why? Because a lot of it is crap these days. And if you like EVERYTHING it means you have no integrity, no discernment of discriminating the good from the bad. Few examples: Rap/Hip-Hop is not even music. Brittany/Christina/Gaga is poor quality pop. Mariachi is garbage. Heavy screaming metal (screamo) is just wicked noise. And on and on. I thought that was basically your point when you talked about what children hear.
@km80120 Return comments, pointless? Not all the time. Like I think I made some really good points here that you probably agree with. I will have a great life because I have integrity. Peace be with you too.
Being a young adult in the 60s was great. Wonderful music; free love; it was a beautiful time. The 15 years of music of Dr. Hook was under-appreciated. But now I realize how special their music really is. Thanks for posting.
lol iwas born in 91 i these guys are fucking great, lol my dads 70 o-o fuck i listen to fats domino and H.W sr. and i forget his name but he sang a white sprt coat and a pink carnation.
Marty Robbins. I remember going on road trips with my grandparents and listening to Marty Robbins..."In the west Texas town of El Paso, I fell in love with a Mexican girl..."
