We played by the rules, paid our taxes, and saved up money and now we are very stable in terms of finances. Poverty and wealth are a part of an economic system in which there has been and continues to be wage-slavery, lack of access to effective educational system, lack of livable wages, lack of jobs and affordable housing.
Poverty and wealth are as much systemic as individual in fact more so.
They say you can't fight City Hall.
Yeah especially when they areowned by corporations.

@zaneshark Very true. I lived in LA and I have seen nice neighborhoods in Beverly Hills and not-so nice ones near USC and Exposition Park.
You hear the term pocketbook issues but what about wallet issues like having enough money to pay rent and buy groceries with a job or jobs that pay very little.
The vast majoirty of the population of the world is either poor or working class not mutlimillionaires with muti-room mansions.

Socialism and communism are the best and make the most sense if you ask me. Capitalism is only good if you are rich, if you are a middle class hard working american like me working for peanuts and you think its great then you are nothing more than a brainwashed sheep to the corporate world and the powers that control you.

@666bushisnazi666 socialism an communism are based on the redistribution of wealth. what happens to the people who work harder for the same amount of money? eventually they just stop because either way they're getting the same shit for less work. Would you work harder than your neighbor for exactly what he's getting? of course not. do you really want the government taking your shit away and giving you back a little bit while YOUR money goes to other people? what sense does that make?

@mattsphagetti Capitalism is when people work to satisfy the wants and needs of society, aka the PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS. If that is a "bad" thing then what is a "good" thing. Economic performance is greatest in a free market society.

@Michaeltanase Capitalism produces far better economic results due to increased motivation and innovation. The more socialist an economy is, the steeper it declines. I do believe that there should be some important elements in a free market economy which are socialist. Most notably, an established bare minimum standard of living (minimum wage) and safe working conditions.

What we need is for everyone to realize that we each provide a service to others. Serving as a bad example by contributing nothing is not much of a service. It's hard to have an egalitarian anachistic system when people do nothing but bitch. So yeah, Einstein, the system is f'ed up. Sleeping outside doesn't count as working toward positive or progressive change.

Fr those who say a free marke economy is the only one that does not infringe of the rights of the indviduals is wrong. Capitalism promotes the exploitattion of the working class. my idea essentially is that everything profitable can only be sanctioned by the Govt if it benefits the community as a whole rather just a few individuals...that way, the society changes from an exclusive one (what we have now) to an inclusive one where people are VALUED from day one FROM BIRTH for being PEOPLE instead of what you bring to the table like engineering skills, receptionist skills, etc (what we have now)...see the difference...

capitalism is the problem...there needs to be something new...here is my idea...all things that benefit ONE person or one group would be outlawed...so a corporate like AT&T's profit would not go to a couple CEO's at the top, they would be required to instead send out the profits in the form of checks to the residents in which AT&T resides and those residents can choose how to best use that money...

Yeah, I'm a receptionist and I totally think capitalism is bullshit. The funny thing is, some people consider me lazy for not wanting to work 40 hours a week (plus a 5 hr/wk commute). They actually think that if you can spare the time to attend a protest rally, you're one of "life's losers" (fuck you, Rush Limbaugh, btw) because you aren't glued to your seat at work. Who's the loser, again?
