If it wasn't for the video the used car that I purchased at the dealer I would've gotten a huge surprise! While the salesman decided to show me the car in the detailing area. I took it upon myself to try to find out if the removal of the cabin filter was easy. It was nice n easy japanese. To my surprise the cabin filter wad full of a mouse feces!!! That alone knocked off 300 dollars of the cost of the car!! Thank you get and keep making great honda videos
I had my 08 Civic for 3 years now and I never heard about Cabin filter till yesterday, even in Honda owners manual it doesn't say shit about it. Today I went and got Cabin and Engine filter (each for $18.99) and it took me about 2-3 minutes to replace both. THANX 4 THE VIDEO!
Thank you. The video was much easier to follow than any text instructions. It did take me a lot longer than your estimated timeline however. I had to deal with the fact that a chipmunk had built a snack bar in the filter housing, creating difficulty pulling the filter out because of all the empty hickory nuts stored in there. I'm guessing I pulled out at least 50 nuts before I could put the new one in.
@DrnkSqrrlProductions I wasn't faulting you. I actually changed the filter today. The frame only fits one way, and the arrow points down.. while the airflow seems to go up.
LOL, dealers are such rip-off artists. They wanted to charge me $160 to replace the cabin and engine air filters. I bought both at Canadian tire for $30. I love my Civic hybrid. The only downfall is the shitty CVT transmission. I wish it had the same 6 speed manual as the CR-Z...fun factor would go up considerably. All in all it's been a great car for me.
Dealer wanted to charge me $154. $80 for the filter and $70 for labor. I spent $15.99 on a filter at Autozone and it took me less than two minutes to take out the old filter and put in the new one. Thanks!!
Excellent video. Can't stand it when manufacturers try to make the simple jobs more difficult in order to get you to go to the dealer and spend insane amounts of money.
i actually make the filter frames and install the filters at my work before we ship them to the assembly line. you forgot one simple detail there are tabs that stick up on the inside of the frame so make sure the ends of the filter are behind them so no excess debris gets through plus it helps that i get free filters for my si while im working there :)
They were going to charge me $59+tax at the dealership. And I'm guessing the filter they were going to use to replace the existing filter was lower quality than the one I bought for $16.39 at Autozone. Great video! Thanks!
OUTSTANDING video. Thank you so much for your time, the level of detail and the information you provided. You have done an incredible service to all of us mechanically challenged individuals! Can't thank you enough for your contribution!
Thanks for this video. Amusingly enough, the picture of the Curry Honda that you showed was the exact dealership that I bought my 07 Civic from. I'm glad I won't need pay them to perform such an easy maintenance task.
@DocBryson LOL, well thats ironic as I just googled searched honda dealership for photo's to put into the video and just chose the best looking one. Where are you located?
@DrnkSqrrlProductions Atlanta GA. They wanted to charge me $98.95 for this service. The new filter cost me $25.57 at the dealership. Net savings = $73.38. Thanks again.
Ummm, the dealer was going to charge me $111 for this job. I just picked up a new filter at the parts store for $18. You just saved me a lot of cash. Thanks!
@bartenderonduty Don't deal with stealership service departments. Service department is worse than sales people. Service advisors make over 100k at some stealerships. Mechanics don't even make half.
@DrnkSqrrlProductions ~ Just so you know HOW awesome you are...the Fayetteville Honda dealership showed me how to get to your page to DIY...and thx for the response.... :o) ...so they know too...!!!
does it matter what brand you use for the filter??i'm looking for cabin filters on ebay and there are cheap ones, and expensive ones....got any advice on whats the best?
Thanks! A place I go for oil changes (non-dealership) offered to change this filter out for 50 which is still outrageous. Only paid 10 bucks for the filter at a local auto parts store and changed myself within minutes.
thanks Drunk Squirrel, this was very informative. I just spent $57.75 to have this and the engine airfilter replaced. They had taken out the old filters to show me how dirty they were. I was furious when they charged me that to replace them. Note to everyone Don't go to Jay Lee's Honda in Gladstone, Oregon for anything, including a new car.
I think i heard this song before in the videogame NEED FOR SPEED 3: HOT PURSUIT on the original playstation, man that was the game!! Thanks for the flashback,
Dont forget the Euro model has a little device that lowers the door down slowly, its attached to the door by a little clip, but if forced it will break.
If your dealership wanted to charge 75 to do this job ( and is very very very easy ) now I don't want to think how much they would try to charge me to change mine (Pontiac Grand Prix 97) it takes longer, you have to remove more things. not hard but is not as easy as this one!
Thanks so much for making this tutorial. Last week when my dealer told me I need to change the air filter, and going to charge me $120 dollars (not kidding!), and I remember seeing this video before so I told them no. You save me money! :D
Thank you for the video, you saved me $110.
