@nyjdogg Im playing it on trombone too. It's really boring at the beginning, but then we have melody in some parts. For my band that is. We're preety small. Like 13 people kind of small.
Wagner tubas? If you mean those two to the right, those are normal German tradition bass or contra bass tubas. A Wagner tuba on the other hand is a weird instrument with a small bore, looking like those German oval, rotary valve euphoniums/ baritones. Played with a french horn mouth piece.
We are currently playing this in our high school and the horn part is very different o.O for example there are two solos that play with the flutes two measures into the beginning.
i love this it sounds very good my high school did a marching band production of different Wagner hits and this was one you sound really good look up lakota west at state if you want to hear and see it
I played first horn part in our high school production of Elsa's Procession. It remains my absolute favorite memory from my eight years of playing French Horn. Thanks so much for allowing me to relive that special moment.
This is a first-rate job of playing. Lucien Cailliett's famous transcription of this Wagner selection is a masterpiece in itself. I myself wouldn't have taken the liberities that Ms. Fannin does at the end, but each Wagner to his or her own. As
a euphonium player, this is one of my favorite works to perform. My compliments!
i played this in the all-state band for Mississippi this year and honestly this is one of my favorite pieces of music. it's so gorgeous and emotional and AHH ! hahahlaskjd im glad i was on first clarinet part though, it really tests your abilities with the notes. great piece, great band playing it !
Great music of R. Wagner. Most of the paintings by Bouguereau are quite familiar to me, but I hadn't known who had made them. Do you see the pair of Wagner tubas back there in the brass, always playing right under and reinforcing the trombones? It was quite a bit of a student effort, but it was great fun!
I remember playing Wagner Tuba when we performed this as a contest piece by the New York Philharmonic Training Orchestra.
my high school band is playing this. Im a percussionist so needless to say I hated this song at first because of the absence of percussion parts. As time went on, this song grew on me. We have our festival in two weeks. great song.
Watch pitch in the opening. Very nice oboe and clarinet solo. Watch the pitch leading into the key change both time. Clarinets bring the part out when you have the moving notes and the rest of the band have the main thems....you have something new that has been heard until that moment so bring it out.
its alright....

Watch intonation with the flutes, and make sure all the grace notes are played together, but otherwise it was very good. ^^
The oboe and clarinet solos were very good, as was the flute one at the beginning.

For sure. Upper register with full support at that volume is ridiculous.
