Tom in his infinite wisdom, decided to take a vacation one spring morning in 2007 and whilst he was away Craig registered the company in his name only. Of course, Tom being a reasonable man decided, "well, I'll be a sport to Craig and become a paid employee." Unfortunately, paying people is Stuttering Craig's personal Kyrptonite and he told Tom to F*ck off. Tom then went on to create The Game Heroes, and then moved onto TGWTG.
Craig made the business decision... Tom was looking for the close friend decision... Screwattack hasn't been the same since... both had valid views and I'm sorry that they just didn't coincide... one day i hope to see a GH and SA collab if only to see Craig and Tom put the past behind them and move forward.
I can still rember the day I heard this and I still belive that there lil tift was over nothing. That piece of paper shouldnt be important enough to end a friendship over.
gameheroes is good...but only because of tom....at least thats my opinion. like craig, he has a certain passion for video games that really makes it enjoyable to watch his videos. but at the same time he might not of had the initiative that craig had to improve screwattack. i dont know, its just sad that it ended the way it did
Honestly, Craig shouldn't have gone behind Tom's back. But I have to go with Craig on this one. i know a business and if you want it to grow, you need to give 115% at least. You also need to know everything going on in the company in every piece, especially in Craig and Tom's place. and Craig is the reason that Screwattack is where it's at. It's sad and it sucks, but a company is either big or bomb, there's nothing in between. Tom couldn't do it, he just couldn't.
I was in the exact same situation with RPG's. Some of my former pals were all up for the game itself, while I had to take care of "biz". Those who are the "face" of the group will often bask in their popularity, and those who work behind the scenes will turn sour because of this. Ultimately the popular guys just have to realize that they have to share the fun AND the boring parts with everyone else, and the biz guys must learn to accept their lot somewhat. We couldn't, and Screwattack couldnt.
I had a situation with a very close friend of mine where things went horrible wrong because we both misunderstood what the other wanted. Both got hurt but neither of us meant to hurt the other. The situation was resolved but even to this day I don't understand my friends perspective on what happened fully and my friend doesn't understand mine. So in that situation neither of us really knows the full story.
I can understand Craig but it sounded like he did it behind his back. If he registered the company in his name based upon his beliefs than that's one thing but he should have told Tom before going behind his back and registering the company in Craig's name alone.
@sigmahunter06 That's true that business is important Sig and I realize that cutthroat is part of success; however, it's a shame to stab a best friend in the back and not man up and tell him yourself. It's like Kim Kardasian filing for divorce and not even telling 'what's his face' finding out second hand is bullshit.
Craig was trying to out due Tom the entire time and just had too many potentially good ideas for the site...which is a bad thing because he thought he was doing all the work when really he was just working over time. He should have just chilled the fuck out a bit.
Tom was only looking at hits on his videos and wanted to pull an AVGN so he could make money based on amount of hits.
They're both to blame because neither of them were ever working together, they were only thinking of themselves.

This is why you don't start businesses with your best friends.

Lucario1121 6 months ago
@Lucario1121 Ugly Tom is probably thinking "Um Fuck, maybe I should've worked harder and stayed with those guys..."

According to Tom, he didnt want a raise, but on the other hand wanted a per-thousand views pay, like the AVGN gets.

People cannot take sides because only 2 people completely know the story which is Tom and Craig.

@BustAcApInCoD50 Untrue. Nobody knows the full story.

I think the same can be said here.

If you're looking for proof of whose side of the story is mostly right, just look at screwattack now and Tom's new site, Game heroes.
Screwattack updates every day, has a great community section, and is a great looking site with all the trimmings.
Game heroes is rarely updated (the bio section has been incomplete since it started), it's ugly and the videos are poor and in need of editing.
It's clear that Craig's work ethic shines through more than Tom's.

true, ScrewAttack's videos have a much more professional touch to it, and i loved the Craig Tom partnership a shame he left :/
