I think the main difference between the book and the movie was that in the book we could see how Rhett gradually changed and slowly became indifferent towards Scarlett and eventually stopped loving her, whereas in the movie it's more like he still loved her but he got fed up with her not loving him back and always chasing after Ashley. So I think, in the book there was simply no chance of getting back together and in the movie, there was still some chance left What do you guys think? :-)

Okay rhett leaving scarlett in my eyes was seen as a sort of a punishment to her.he loved her but she didn't until the very end!!!heartbreaking but the movie is a true classic!scarlett should of gave up Ashley from the start!

Beautiful song. Loved it. Of course he loved her - even at the end - he just couldn't live with her. In the book, after Scarlett miscarried and he is in his room crying, he tells Melly that if Scarlett loved him he could "wait forever". Not sure if that is in the book or just the film but I like to believe it was just a temporary separation

@sugarcane32 If you read the sequel book Scarlett by Alexandra Ripley, they do get back together. It another long book but a good read. Throughout the whole book they fight their love for each other (more Rhett than Scarlett) but they end up together.

i do LOVE this book AND this video, but i can't STAND it at the same time. Rhett LOVES Scarlett, and she never loves him back until its too late, and he doesnt love her anymore. i couldnt believe the book ended the way it did. it was truly heartbreaking!!!! PROPS ON THE VIDEO MAKING THO!!!!
