If your team sucks sour asshole and you have question marks at every position then...I would say take the Detroit route and draft for the trenches first. Drafting a primadonna quarterback for your first round pick to me is stupid regardless of how good his numbers are in college. I would say quarterback is around 5th or 6th in list of priorities unless that is the only position you really need.

I think the big problem with Tim Couch (and David Carr,) is that the team's that drafted them were recent expansion teams, so they had even less talent than your average shitty team. So both of them basically got completely screwed over.

I thought Stafford came in right at the end of the Matt Millen era. But we are in agreement. You cannot draft a QB to a horribly rancid, diarrhea team and expect him to polish a turd. The only QB I have ever seen do such a thing besides Rick Mirer (who faded quickly) was The Man: Peyton Manning.

Leaf came in and was expected to be the next greatest. When Russel was drafted i remember people asking why he was drafted so high. Russel isn't and never will be a bust in my eyes. There's a huge difference between a bust and a bad draft decision.

Plus, the Kansas City Chiefs are my #5 favorite team, so, I'll give credit for when I saw him in Kansas City. I thought he was O.K..
Cade McNown, I watched him, as well.; As a Bears fan, most people said it was a rather tough go at seeing both him & Rick Mirer, respectively.
