very cool they are the most awesome garden bugs you will ever have.... I save all the eggs they leave in my garden every year. they are family. they eat everything. good and bad bugs but they come back every year. do you know what the eggs look like?
they eat any thing you put in front of them . i think that one is actually a female. i raise them as pets and over the summer ive had 3 females and i found a small snake and i put it in her cage and she ate over half of it. i love these insects.
@badboyorganics they live for about a year in captivity. the chinese praying mantiss like the one there are not picky at all with the environment. as long as it is not cold and there is a good amount of food for them to eat they will be perfectly fine.
cool stuff! we just posted a video today with a big praying mantis that lives in our garden too. little different variety of praying mantis but cool. They aren't used to having food presented to them. they like to catch it. so your mantis probably will still eat the hornworm, in its own time. I just read earlier today that if you have a "pet" mantis, it takes about 3 days of hand feeding them for them to get used to taking food you presented to them. they can eat like 7 bugs a day. ~Amanda

@TheBmxman555 That is crazy... I didn't know they would do that.
What happens to them when it gets cold out or the weather conditions are not favorable for them to live in?
What is their life expectancy?
Thanks for watching and commenting.
