Samsung monitors and such appliances are 100% better than the product they sold a few years back , I have the 2253 and it rocks , the price is great and the resolution is awesome , all you haters have too much money to waste on expensive monitors when this one works just as well if not better , rock on Samsung

I stopped buying Samsung monitors after my wife's went black and mine also 4 weeks later. I did some research, seems to be a common issue with Samsung monitors.

They fail because of the cheap capacitors that Samsung uses in all their monitors. I opened both failing monitors and notice in both cases bulging capacitors. I notice these things right away, since I'm a professional electro technican.

Their warranty is also poor. Most monitors fail after their warranty has expired, repair is not an option, it'll cost almost as much as the price of the monitor. In comparison; another company offers a 3 year swap warranty, if their product fails they'll send you a brand new one and all you have to do is sending the failing monitor back in the same box. Now that is WARRANTY.

For Pete's sake, what do you need a dell ultrasharp 1908 for? lol It's too expensive, you can get monitors that are cheaper and much bigger and that are just as good.

19" is wayyyy to small, play a game on a 22" widescreen or more and you'll understand what I mean lol

And as for "hours" playing, every normal monitor should last many many year, even with heavy use, except for crappy Samsungs, most of them fail after 2 year...sigh

This monitor only has a VGA & DVI port. You would have to purchase adapters if they exist, in order to watch TV. What you can do is purchase a TV tuner video card for your PC.

What I mean is I want to use a TV for bigger screen when used with lets say a MSI Wind or a Samsung NC10 (Im pondering the idea of buying one or the other! :P) when Im at home you see...

And as these monitors look nice and also are quite easy on the bank account...

I`m not too familiar about how far they are. I have only seen 20,000:1 as dynamic ratio, not contrast ratio. I have noticed HD enabled monitors are 1000:1 in ratio and up. This information, generally speaking; only matters if you do work with photography. Hope this helps; correct me if i`m wrong.

its has a decent viewing angle but the monitor has some backlight bleed not noticeable under normal use but it sticks out in a dark game like doom 3 or some half life levels but its a great monitor for the price i paid only $270 for mine

HDCP means High Definition Content Protection and for around the same amount of money I would go for the 2043BWX. It's swivel and tilt options make it a more attractive buy although it's a 20" model and has a 5ms response time. Not the best option for gamers but a better buy for presentation and clarity.

Uh, no. HDCP stands for High bandwith Digital Content Protection. HDCP is required for some HD-Ready and Full HD labels, not the other way around. Because the monitor has got 1050 pixels in height you need to scale or chop off the image to display 1080 pixels. Not that it has anything to do with this specific monitor, with 22 inch you won't get monitors above 1050 pixels anyways.

In any case I totally love this monitor, ordered one a few days ago :)
