I met M. Stanton Evans back in the late 1950s after seeing him debate on the subject of the House UnAmerican Activities Committee who helped form my conservatism which has stayed with me since. Evans was then the youngest newspaper editor in America, the indianapolis News. He sent me a telegram in Kentucky to come visit him regarding a similar debate I was to have in Lexington, Ky.
