They are adding 3 new main cast members to the show in season 6 and like the pres of Showtime said, there are still a lot of fans still coming to the show. With season 5 having the best overall ratings, which is amazing for a show in its 5th season going on 6. They said the only reason they didnt renew it for 2 more after the 5th was because contracts are up with season 6 and he said that they dont see the show ending anytime soon. I hope not anyways

Rita is dead, he is suspected of doing it, Astor and Cody (from the trailer) don't trust him. His dad is still haunting him and now Rita's death, his own department is on his ass almost right on his toes, and he's trying to be a single father. Something big is about to happen and it looks like the end.

@theenigmajjames It's not that they would end it because of ratings but fear of the show becoming dull after this season, smallville was like that it got boring after the 6 season,but the 8th season i hear is pretty good getting back on track. Anyway, I haven't seen any of this season yet but just by this preview how can you see dexter keep the life he has. It looks so crazy how can this keep going unless this is just leading up to a huge climactic 6th season. which would make more sense.
@neo942007 In my opiniong Smallville is not borring at it's essence, at it's primal story, but they are prolonging it way too much with those 22 episodes, if it was 12-13 episodes per season, it would've been much better in my opinion. As for Dexter - I think that if the 6th season isn't final, they should prepare some great stories if they don't want to ruin the show.

They are just getting started.
