This is an explicit command in the Sikh code of conduct (The Rehat Maryada), and the Sikh Gurbani. I don't know who told you this, but they were wrong.

@Ikjyot It's Evening here, and i am ready for a debate whether it's morning or evening, and i am sane enough to not make it as argument, I am an indian, and you are right, Some sikhs live the turban for their personal reasons, so as Randhwa, I wonder if ENGLISH people won't make fun of his turban, when anchoring on TV. Singhat TV was started for the sole reason ENGLISH people were giving any coverage for this community...and ENGLISH people hardly give a damn about it. :)

@TheSilentdarkmuse Well I have lived in Toronto for the past 24 years, and can assure you that appearance makes no difference to the English/Whites. They care more about how you speak, and how you present yourself, i.e,. your education and etiquette. I have had a turban and beard with no problems whatsoever. In fact, there are even 2 Sikhs in the Canadian Parliament with bright red turbans and long black beards, Navdeep Singh Bains, and Gurbax Singh Malhi.

@TheSilentdarkmuse The problem is that the majority of Punjabi/Jatts who come to Canada/England have very little etiquette, and are usually the ones involved in crimes and drugs. When Whites snipe at them, they think its because of their appearance so the cut their hair, in actuality, it's their actions that people snipe at. All the jails in northern Toronto (Brampton/Mississauga) are filled with them, because of their alcoholism and spousal abuse.
