  • If you have a walmart or kmart near you, you can buy bedsheets from them for like 5$ for a twin topsheet, which is something close to two yards of fabric, and it's usually pretty good quality.

  • I love how when she started talking about all her fabrics, her eyes got all wide and she looked like a little girl on christmas.:)

    I do the same thing:)

  • Spotlight and Textile traders for Australians is really good.

  • There's a thrift store right down the street from me and I always buy there! They sell bags of fabric for less than $5:D

  • And estate sale especially an old quilter passed away. OMG I got like 50 yards of different fabrics and a rotary cutter for 10 bucks totally.

  • @3838bbla That is so awesome! I love finding a good estate sale!

  • Speaking of sheets - I like looking at the duvet covers. I ran across a duvet cover that someone had made out of King-sized sheets. They were real quality sheets and when I looked at them - they hadn't even been used! Apparently someone used brand new sheets to make a duvet cover and decided they didn't like it after all. I got two king-sized sheets (BRAND NEW) for the price of $2.40. I swear, if I won the lottery - I'd still haunt thrift stores, lol!

  • I use the Joanns iPhone app for coupons

  • don't forget the supply section of Etsy. There are often great deals there. I have decided that I will not become a quilter anytime soon so I am going to sell grab stacks of my quilting fabrics in a stash sale. I'm sure others are doing the same leading up to the holidays.

  • @sunnycorbett Great tip!

  • Great tips--

  • @mwnjw Thanks :)

  • It's sad that the country where I live in (Holland) isn't a big crafting country. That's also the reason I think why everything here is so expensive. Also I don't have a big crafting/fabric store neat me and they never work with coupons, as far as I know at least...

  • @PTuinman That's sad...but hopefully you still have thirft stores, yard sales, or charity shops where you can buy sheets, shirts, and other things to use for material!

  • @PTuinman I live in Uruguay and the same seems to happen here...at least in my town. :(

  • @Flor86ful sad.. don't you have a thriftshop near you. In my town they have a small one, but sometimes they have good clothes that you can use for projects of costumes. And in the town where my grandparents live there is also a thriftshop, a lote bigger so when I'm there I always stop by :P

  • Using old jeans for fabric is something I've been doing for a bit. There cheap at the thrift store and friends always have a pair they no longer wear. I have made pillows out of them and I'm now cutting squares out to make a duvet cover. I also intend to make a newsboy hat from your pattern out of jeans and an old t-shirt for the lining.

  • @TdblGrr That's awesome! I've made a few denim hats and my mom made an awesome jean scrap quilt one time! I have several pairs right now that I'm trying to come up for a project with...and my friend is going to be giving me a few more pairs :)

  • Wonderful tips.

  • kk, thx

  • Great ideas Whitney, thanks!

  • You are awesome! These tips will help a ton. :3

  • Thanks for sharing your tips! I love going to thrift stores! It is amazing how much fabric I have accumulated from them!!

  • ....AND NEVER EVER BUY A PATTEREN UNLESS ITS FOR 99CENTS!!! yup im hella cheap, hahaha i always wait it out till those are on sale

  • @juanitae9 Me too I love those sales! Patterns use to be cheap when I was a kid now they are ridiculous :P

  • @juanitae9 You are totally right! I see no reason to pay several dollars for a pattern if I know it's going to be $.99 in the next week or so! Plus that means I can buy so many more... :)

  • @juanitae9 Unless it's Vogue. Then you should never pay more than about $3.99.

  • @mwnjw HA!!!I dont think ill ever use that everyone i now says its sooooo hard and confusiing, lol but thanks for the heads up

  • Great tips thank you.

  • Thrift stores are my favorite place to shop!! I recently found ribbon and lace that was only .50 a bundle. Each bundle was at least 2 yards or more!! Some of the lace was 4 inches wide. This is perfect for making langels for Christmas gifts this year!!

  • great advice!! I havent been able to make videos cause Im on a budget LOL

  • @laydewlf No prob :) I live passing along tips and I'm all about saving money!

  • @minichick786 Glad you liked them :)

  • Great tips! Sheets are especially good for home dec since they are large. Curtains, shower curtain, pillows, duvet cover, etc.

  • @TheJanetFletcher You're so right! All the curtains in our apartment were made using sheets!
