About the borax: I heard mountainroseherbs sells natural borax without the detergent properties found in the ones at the grocery stores. I was looking for a cheap emulsifier and came across it. I don't think borax is any less safe than some of the other crap I can't even pronounce in most of the lotions I use. I wanna start making my own stuff. Also, I think anything made with any kind of water needs a preservative. Anyone tried potassium sorbate? Is that enough?

BTW Borax gets A LOT of negative comments but look it up...it is an all-natural mineral salt...used for over a hundred and fifty years. You can use it in body soap, laundry washing soaps, face and hand creams, among other things.

How would you incorporate a tincture in this? I have some herbs soaking in 50% vodka and I want to make the tincture into a lotion. Thank You.

i dont understand the question @batmandream1.

do you want to make a deodorant or a powder?

because you can do both really.

lets focus on the babypowder. if you went out and bought a nice body lotion cream and added baby power to it- that would make a great deodorant right there.

if you added a extract of say "sage the herb " that would make a deodorant AND antiperspirant.

this is what they used long time ago and it was called "mum".

ohkay-borax is not a poison-what your thinking of is roach powder-boric acid-

its not the same

borax is a natural mineral that humans use to clean.

it also is ok for the skin to bathe in.

in this recipe the lady uses it because it will help bind oil and water together.

you dont have to use it if you have bees wax.then you just need a preservative.
