if u r saying this is wrong, then your wrong because setters set backwards(they dont always set in front of them) and you need to use your whole body to set the right way but u still need a good hand technique and they dont show that in this video
im more of a libro w/ a powerful arm hurting serve and even tho im just 5 foot i spike w/ plenty of authority and power and i jump w/ such a great height extent cause vollyball has helped me build thigh power (and ive jumped hurtles which helped me to jump higher).but no matter how much i practice or the different ways i've experimented w/ i just cannot set a good set.but no doubt i make up for it.
Okay this is Toontown 437's sister ANNA. Okay THIS IS NOT how you flipping SET! You make a WINDOW for the BALL TO GO INTO &you do somewhat thing like the SUPERMAN! Not what the heck she's teaching this teenage girl!
I hope for that team's sake they have a hell of alot of offside players.. Though not the most useful position to attack from when you're going into the power and likely right footed therefore left oriented middle block as well as the easy step to the right for position 1 to cover the far right corner of the court. Offside attackers may be a wild card but u gotta know how to use em
the teachers not showing it right, she should be using her hands and wrists more and her arms less. thats how i learned to set from a college level coach.
@liberochick7 Look at all the best setters at the highest level.....mostly all of them will use hands, wrists, and little elbows to set the ball. If you want to become a top level setter, you need to develop hand/wrist strength and learn how to use that to set the ball. The less body manipulation in setting the less compensation that will be needed with the arms when actually setting AND the more difficult you will be for blockers to read where you are setting.
everything seems right. cept, shes setting blind to the RS, u gotta see your set. if u extend your hips too soon, ya blockers will read that, but girls barely block anyway lol and obviously a pretty jump set will sell it every time, RS is pretty easy for one on ones with good passing
Uhhh....this is all wrong. Setters SHOULD be using mostly their hands and wrists ONLY. Yes, the legs are important to set the base and get SOME momentum. However a real set involves VERY LITTLE body and mostly only a flick of the wrists and hands. The less going on with the body, the easier it is to not only control the set, but to eliminate the opposing team from reading your set. This is horribly incorrect on the video. Elbows should be bent at about 45 degree angle and never leave that angle.
you guys are freaking retards. that IS the right way to set a backset to the rightside postition.
yess she is trying to back sett and she ISNT using to much hip movement. if you weree smart nad knew anything about volleyball you would know that she is an AMAZING setter and that is a tricky and extremely hard thing to do.
and it is right. so stop saying its not cuz you people know nothing about volleyball and you all sound like total idiots..!
@iloveyouforverxoxo Yes. She is a great back-setter. But I'm not wrong. I am my teams setter and this team and your team may do it this way, but on my team we get in front of the ball. If she's all the way over there and it doesnt get to the hitter and someone has to bump it over, they will prolly tip it where the setter should be like anyone smart would do. She should call help on those instead of running to get them. And on the first couple she could have gotten there to get in front of them.
Uhhhm..it keeps going behind her head. Who is she attempting to get it to? If she's in the setting position it wont go to the spikers. Or am I wrong? I dunno.
while its true for fundamental setters but if you arch your back and use too much hips you begin to be read and blocks camp on your weak side/outside and middles bc they know when you are going weak and when your not
no stupid its actually right. do you know anyhitng about volleyball j0h4nn25? because if you dont arch your back you can overextend your freaking elbow dumbass.. you have to use your hips i think i know a little more about volleyball than you do stupid.
in my highschool, we are taught to use our hips because if we get too used to setting the ball farther back on our head then when we set a 4 we won't set properly. :)
her hip and core movement is good but her hands need to be more relax. they need to have a 'trampoline effect' or how make it clear? but what the trainer says is correct :)
anyone and everyone that has any setting skills knows you use ur arms to set. you only use ur wrists when setting the quick attack in the middle. you extend your arms on all other sets, it's called the follow through. Also on the back sets you are not suppose to use ur wrists. and u are suppose to use ur back, and it won't give it away right away unless the setter shows it super early. Good setters won't show it super early. i've coached many setters who are now playing in college currently
well, all coaches teach differently. my personal coach told me never to bend my arms, as to not give the set away. good blockers will tell you are going to set back, even if you show the slightest arch in your back
depends on if you're a guy or girl, girls need to bend their arms in order to transfer power. With men, they're strength allows them to use more wrist. At the level the setter's at right now, it's more important to make the right set decision and to get the ball to where it needs to be than it is to be deceptive.
i am a spiker but i can say that the girl in the video doesn't use the arms and doesn't lift the ball with the upthrust of the entire body and legs....as it has to be done.
well good luck, its not going to be easy that's for sure. Im just afreshmen in high school and Ive been on the teamn for 2 months. High school volleyball is nothing compared to college. College Vball is wayy more intense
It depends on what high school you go to. I went to an intense and highly competitive high school. Typically if you aren't playing at the level during high school you won't be playing at that level in college.
i disagree with the backsets.. ur supposed to use ur wrists to back sets.. if you bend your back, the blockers will read the set and put a double block right away
u r bad, ur doing this weird hand thing, and your footwork is very off. I dont want to be an asshole but all u got to do is do is get behind the ball, left right footwork, flash hands, and square to target
we also wear them because when we jump around the net, to hit or block, we and our clothes are less likely to touch the net (if we do touch the net then the other team gets a point).
And like the other person said, its for aerodynamics, make us move around quicker, and they are comfortable!
you'd think that at this level they would be jump setting. Where as what the video said would be wrong you dont pop your hips in the air its like almost all arm movement
actually not if you're waiting to till the last second to move your hips. The reason why it probably looks like it in this video is because they were emphazing on that particular part. no i don't agree.. i set backspin sets to the outside when my outside hitter is late and i still want to play a fast set.. never got called for carrying/double touch or whatever you call it
