Pete really screwed this band over as far as taking over and putting out some real crappy ballads! Terry was the heart of the band, and Pete was also good, but was waiting in the wings to do to the band what the caption of the Italian cruise ship did.
my dad is a big chicago fan and he played this one often. everytime i hear this song it reminds me of him. sounds weird but when i get married i want this to be the song we dance to.
the day my son was born,,i just came out of the operating room and went to get her flowers..i was reflecting on seeing my son born. and this song came on the radio..its been his song ever since
irisMG my exact thoughts also, only you have the wrong member of the band terry kath was the one who brought the females attention to the band, after terry's untimely death, peter let himself being the lead man in the band go to his head and really started writing some very cheezy stuff so un chicago like!!!
@ledheadbobh Thank you, Didn't see your comment cuz you didn't reply me! Well, being a teenage female during their heyday, I liked the Cetera era Chicago. But, my tastes are not all or nothing. I believe the Kath era Chicago was a harder sound, not a lot of women dig that, but that was my impression back in the day, not looking at it with a middle-aged eye. They could have kept their hard edged sound and been gone a lot sooner. You do what you need to do to survive, I think.
@IrisMG That is a good point!! and i never looked at it in that way.I am a 45 year old guy,a musician since i was a lil' one and Kath was soooo extreme and soulful ,it does make a great ---jeez how can i put it? I mean could they continue in that dynamic for much longer without --BOOM! and sadly it was boom that ended Terry, and that pace of writing-touring ,etc. great insight ! and all the best!!
I miss Peter Cetera - he was the voice of Chicago to me. What they call Chicago now is nothing of the kind! It's a shame because Chicago could have ended in 1977 with Terry Kaths accidental death. But they were saved, Peter was made more prominent, & because of songs like this, women started buying Chicago albums & kept them alive. Nowadays, though, I don't even recognize the band, and haven't since Hard Habit to Break. As Kenny Rogers said you gotta know when to fold 'em.
The influential Beatles broke up in 1970. If that never happened, and if John Lennon and George Harrison were living today, the Fab Four would still be intact today, and strong. The Rolling Stones and The Who never broke up.
that my feeling ..it was New years eve 1976...she came up to me and said " Its your baby.....Surprise! " (turned out to be her work supervisors baby....slut)
@teehonky ..lol....it definitely would of been a complete surprise to hear that !..that kid will be all grown up now...wonder if it was really the supervisors? lol !

Chicago is second to the Beach Boys as America's longest-running pop/rock band. In the UK,it's the Rolling Stones and The Who.
