  • fanboys everywhere. This 'cloth' is just polygonal crap. ugly and totally unrealistic. deal with it.

And personally I don't care about cards, technology, brands and crap. Only about art and visuals. And that looks ugly. Just saying.

  • half life 2 physics! XD

  • @cheesybro1 i think this is unfair, the amd version doesnt have curtains / cloth / soft stuff but the nvdia version has all that, like at 0:20 the banner is not present on the left. why dont they do a fair testing?

  • Omg there are so many arguments on here. I think it might be a new record.

  • Question everyone. Why is it lately when I turn on PhysX, my frame rates drop down to less then 10 fps in certain areas of the game? Only thing that seems to work is that I have to turn off PhysX, then I can have medium settings at around 30 to 35 fps. I remember when I first got this game I had medium settings with PhysX on and ran pretty decent using my Nvidia 9800 GT with Windows Vista 32 bit and 4 gb of RAM. Helpful advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

  • @blueblade455 You'll need a better GPU. GT 9800 is outdated and won't keep up with most of the games now. I recommend a GTX 470 + or a GTX 560+. If you want an AMD card go for the 6800 series or the 6900 series.

  • @WR1ck1e Yeah I just decided to go buy an MSI 560 GTX 448 core and still had the same problem! :/ Then I finally did some research and found that in the Nvidia Control Panel I had the PhysX Configuration set to "CPU" in which I was supposed to have it set to "Auto-Select (recommended)". Now I get around 58-60 FPS on all the highest settings with PhysiX on! Boy did I feel foolish but yet relieved XD! I mainly wanted to get a new card for BF3 anyways which is running more smoothly now :D

  • yah physx should have been standard in games by now, what a shame

  • @yousini Problem with that is that it's a proprietary technology.

  • imagine it on bf3 where physx for better destruction. EPIC

  • Just to sort out all the confusion in the comments:

    1) AMD cards CANNOT use GPU PhysX (they can use CPU PhysX)

    2) AMD cards are not cooler than the Nvidia Counterpart (there is no evidence supporting this)

    3) Nvidia cards are just as powerful if not more powerful than the AMD counterpart

    4) PhysX is not a scam.

    5) Adding a Nvidia card to an AMD card setup STILL does not enable GPU PhysX (this was patched ages ago)

  • @cheesybro1 Why would an AMD card run cooler than an nVidia card?

lol don't buy reference cooled cards, AMD or NVidia, doesnt matter. it'll run cool. :P

  • @gabrocki there were trolls saying one brand runs cooler than the other..

  • @cheesybro1 oh, gotta love them fanboys <3

  • @cheesybro1 But they take more heat? :D And most physX stuff sux :P

  • @cheesybro1 i have an amd radeon 6970 with the physx from a gts450 you can use a amd card for graphics and a cheap nvidia card for physx! And yes the gpu physx is enabled theres a moded driver for it!

  • @cheesybro1 5) Is not accurate, it IS possible, not official, but it is. My motherboard has no free slots for another GPU, so I'm sadly non physX user :)

Drop of FPS from maxed Batman AA with and without pX is astonishing. 120FPS all the way down to 20-30 :p

  • А что будет, если поставить NVIVA and RADEON

  • Does this feature work on an Xbox 360?

  • @cheesybro1 damn

  • nVidia offers less slightly less powerful but slightly better designed cards for the same price. Their cards, despite having less raw power, operate at lower temperatures, produce less noise, and are also smaller. However, because so many games are under the "the way it's meant to be played" (we'll pay you if you screw over AMD) program by nVidia, games will play better under nVidia cards anyways.

  • NVidea FTW

  • lol I use Intel GPU and can make PhysX run

  • lol thanks god my gpu supports physx

  • this is the best example of physx differences i've seen yet

the rest really dont sell me, as for this, it WOULD sell me... if i hadnt played through mirror's edge already, and if it wasnt such a short game

i know physx can be found in alot of titles, but is it really worth it?

(im not promoting trolls here, it is a genuine question, hope to hear some people's opinions)

  • @DaGleese in my opinion with this generation of video cards i would go for nvidia. both major producers are selling cards with nearly equal performance and price. it all comes down to the feature set. bolth have their own GPGPU processing, Nvidia's CUDA technology, and ATI has ATI Stream. of course only nvidia cards support Physx, and nobody knows if ATI has a competing program in the works. So i would go with Nvidia. But no matter what brand you but, you wont be disappointed with the product.

  • I got Nvidia. But turn this off. Cuz it lag fuck

  • @reztreborn You really need a second card dedicated to processing physx to play with the settings turned up.

  • @reztreborn read the small footnote during the slowdowns in the video.

  • Do I care about 3 additional pieces of plastic? No I don't.

Do I want cheaper, cooler cards. Yes I do.

    I buy AMD.

  • @naryanr

The 6990 costs as much as the 590 you know...

  • @QWERTYCommander The 6990 uses *considerably* less power (up to 100W during physics intensive applications), it performs better in terms of FPS (right across the board), and the cheapest price on Amazon UK is £560, whereas the cheapest price for the GTX 590 is £639.

Is there ANY reason a sane person would buy nVidia these days?

  • @naryanr also physx is outdated technology. it's all OpenCL now, which is both ati and nvidia :)

  • @rich1051414 orly?

  • @naryanr For cuda, gpu acceleration in applications that support it.

  • @Amuffin456 While the AMD equivalent is not quite as good, the difference between them is negligible. You're talking about paying about 90 more for 3-4 seconds saved each time in HD video conversion. All web browsers that support hardware acceleration support AMD and nVidia the same. So there's no reason there.

  • @naryanr however there are applications such as sony vegas that support gpu accelartion and many of the adobe programs that are CUDA accelerated. The time you save is around 10-60% also nvidia cards don't cost $90 more.

  • @Amuffin456 There's hardly any program on the market that supports nVidia gpu acceleration features that doesn't also support the AMD equivalent. Vegas is no different.

Here anyway, a GTX 590 is £639 which is $1020. A 6990 (which performs better, remember) is £560 which is $890. That's $130 more. If you average out the less expensive cards it works out around 80-90 in their respective performance categories.

  • @naryanr There is no point of buying a 590 or a 6990 also you live in a different country, that is why there is a significant price difference. It only costs 720-750 for the 590 and the 6990.

  • @naryanr PhysX works on AMD

  • @djgiga Are you sure it "works"? I have it myself (Metro 2033 wouldn't shut up about it) because I had to for a game, but I'm convinced it's not doing anything. a bit of nVidia bribery advertising it looks like to me.

  • @naryanr Well I needed to install the .dll for Trine to run. As far as if there is something better for ATI or what I don't know but the real time physics work pretty damn good.

  • @djgiga Yeah I had Trine before I had Metro. It's physics worked well. It doesn't use PhysX though. I don't think AMD can.

  • @naryanr Also you want to get the installer. PhysX_9.09.0814_SystemSoftware. Just dropping the file in dosn't seem to work.

  • @djgiga What you are doing is running the Physx on your CPU, not the GPU.

  • @naryanr You sound like an immature fanboy.

  • @UrHideless You sound like a butt hurt nvidia user.

  • @naryanr No, I'm using AMD. Asshole.

  • @naryanr Do i care about CUDA and PhysX? Yes i do.

Do i care about fan noise? Yes i do.

Even if it costs a few bucks more, I buy Nvidia.

  • @Inityx CUDA has an AMD equivalent that's practically the same, PhysX is already incredibly outdated and never amounted to more than those pieces of plastic you saw here and some water ripples in Bioshock and was ultimately just a marketing trick, fan noise is a reason to buy AMD not nVidia. Everyone knows nVidia runs way hotter, less efficiently than AMD. AMD even based an ad campaign on it, so of course fans don't need to run as fast or as loud.

  • @naryanr In case of mirrors edge youre right. But look at games like batman AC. I like both nvidia and amd. i have 2 gaming rigs one with amd and one with nvidia. I must say that physx is awesome. Play mafia 2 and batman with and without physx effects. You will miss them a lot. The game is the same but physx improves atmosphere alot.

  • @GTX460Gaming I've never seen Arkham City up close on nVidia but I never saw any real benefit on Mafia 2 or any other game. I'm sitting there watching my friend play on his nVidia machine like

"Wow did you see that PhysX is awesome looks at those physics wow, look at the bullets and the wall and the water wow"

    And I'm thinking

"Uh... yeah? That's the same as mine?" 0_o Seriously it's all in his mind, no kidding. He's seeing what he wants to see.

  • @naryanr Mafia 2 doesnt use phxsx that much. you have more things flying around and clothes are moving more realistic. You should really check out batman ac with physx. Batman requires a strong card with physx but you have physx effects everywhere.

  • @GTX460Gaming I saw the PhysX demo here on YouTube for Batman: AC. There was a good difference I can't deny. The thing they don't really point out is that AMD doesn't feature in that video. What you can see is a brand new nVidia card versus a mid-range 8 series card from about 4 years ago. A card that doesn't even have the bandwidth to calculate the physics anyway.

Now tell me why you think nVidia aren't desperate to compare themselves to their only rival in the market space.

    PS. I already know.

  • @naryanr You said it all, bro.

  • @shifterules Thanks, advertising scams need to be exposed.

  • @naryanr So buy a nice powerful AMD card and then pick up a 9800GTX, GTS250 or any other Nvidia card with more than 48 cores and use it for dedicated Physx. Hell, Mafia II tells you right in game even with a main nVidia card, you're going to need one dedicated for physx if you want to turn the effects up.

  • Comment removed

  • @naryanr Excuse me, what?

I myself own a Radeon HD6950, as well as a GTS250 which I use for physx. I actually play the games here, and I enjoy the effects Physx allows me to use, and I find it visually appealing. I also find it helps with immersion.

What, exactly, is your problem with it?

  • @rjc34 Yep. I was right. Ignorance at it's finest.

You should have your own support group. They really got you good.

  • @naryanr Are you actually going to make a point here, or are you just a butthurt troll?

  • @rjc34 Wow. Ouch, my feelings.

Listen, I could agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

  • @naryanr Oh right Mr. Robinson, you're just an AMD fanboy.

I've always owned AMD cards, and still do. Sounds like you're just mad you can't get the fancy physx effects, so instead of ether spending like $30 buying a used nV card to run it, you go around getting in comment wars bashing nVidia. Smooth.

  • Comment removed

  • @rjc34 "I'm Mafia 2. Buy a new card. It'll make a shit of difference."

    "Yes sir."

  • @naryanr Because buying a used GTS250 for $25 to get some effects I find appealing in the games I play is a bad thing?

I've seen butthurt before, but you pretty much take the cake.

  • @rjc34 They really made you believe it was different didn't they?

    Tragic really.

But I guess they could always put that $30 to good use making another lie... I mean... advertisement.

  • @naryanr You know, perhaps you should actually play the game, or even read up on what the physx engine does and how it works. You know, try it out yourself.

But, I guess you've got your head so far up AMD's ass you've hit the mouth!

  • @rjc34 I mean you'd think for such an ignorant you'd be pretty good with the insults by now. But wow guess not.

I'll do you the honour of obliging your request, and telling you why it is that you are stupid shall I?

In buying an nVidida card to run PhysX beside AMD, not only have you spent money, increased your system power drain hugely and reduced FPS while using a card that processes physics natively, you've failed to notice that nVidia have had this feature *disabled* since the 5xxx series.

  • @naryanr Hugely? It only ever does anything while I'm playing Physx, and you know, an extra 100 or so watts really doesn't bother me.

Second, for someone who hates on nVidia so much you should at least know that the block is laughably easy to fix by simply downloading fixed drivers!

And FPS wise the second card increases average FPS immensely! Why? Because it unloads all of the Physx work from the CPU! Sure, a shit card like a GeForce 2010 will bottleneck, but the 250 is perfectly fast enough.

  • @rjc34 100 watts is a massive amount. Your inability to recognise that just confirms your ignorance. And your little dream about more FPS is total fabrication. It's the AMD that's doing it, not the CPU. and nVidia turned that feature off since 5xxx cause they knew it was a losing game. Now, there's only one driver right that has the capability to fix it, and it was never officially supported, so even if you were using the right one (and I seriously doubt you are) you can forget about updates.

  • @naryanr Who are you to say what I consider a massive amount? 100W is a drop in the hat to me.

The AMD card has nothing to do with the Physx, if I turn it on without an nV card, my CPU does the work and bogs the system down. Personally I use the 257.15 drivers which natively allow hybrid physx.

The crack is so easy these days even an idiot like yourself could do it! And since I'm just using the card for physx, who the hell cares about updates?

  • @rjc34 I don't care what you think, 100 IS a massive amount. "100W is a drop in the hat" Just waste all the energy you want. I guess you must have inherited more money than sense huh kid?

And just as I thought, you're not even using the community crack drivers, you're just imagining PhysX in your games

Just how stupid are you exactly? XD

"Who the hell cares about updates?" Just every gamer with a brain.

But I guess since you've got the cash you should invest in some lotion for that butt hurt XD

  • @naryanr To use 100W of electricity for a whole hours cost me... oh holy shit! $0.007! Oh no! I'm going to go broke! All this clean hydroelectric electricity is just being wasted!

If you knew anything you'd know the 257.15 drivers allow Physx in a system with an AMD card.

And of course I care about updates for my beautiful 6950, but I don't need to update shit for my GTS250.

How dense are you, Mirror's Edge especially contains many things you just wouldn't see without it!

  • @rjc34 That's because all that matter's is how much money you have when you're a selfish dickhead.

And yeah lol! That's why even the comparison video couldn't find them. Your argument is so laughably pathetic now. Even your precious Mafia II comparison vid. Top comment "so what's the difference?" 2nd top comment "parts look better with it off".

You just got BSed into buying a card and you're too butt hurt to admit it. How tragic. Give a douche some money and he thinks he knows something XD

  • @naryanr I think I've established that I *don't* care about money.

    Second, are you fucking blind?

Third, I really don't give a shit whether you like physx or not. If you don't like the effects, then don't buy the card, that's it. I like the effects, and thus I consciously decided to go out and spend a little money (half a fucking game worth!) to enable those effects efficiently.

I think you're the butthurt one here, else why else would you be an AMD fanboy? Who gives a shit?

  • @rjc34 I know you don't care about money, you spoiled prick.

Still in denial though I see. ALL those effects, man, I guess they were just too awesome to be shown in a YouTube video. Oh wait, no yeah I remember now, it's cause they're shit lol, not that you'd know.

I'm just the one out there saying it and people seem to think I'm right. If you don't like it, go chew a rock. If you can't handle the truth you shouldn't be on YouTube kid. So why don't you just take your own advice and clear off hmm?

  • @naryanr Spoiled prick? Excuse me? Kid I work for a living. I didn't have a lot growing up. Everything I do, everything I buy, everything I own comes from my own hard work. It's little shits like you that feel the need to defend to the bone what they bought because they can't bear the thought that they may ever be wrong. You're the spoiled little brat, and perhaps you should get a dose of the real world before coming on hear and preaching to someone like me.

  • @rjc34 U mad bro?

  • @naryanr You having fun?

At this point I think we've just degenerated into trolls trolling trolls.

  • @rjc34 Well when you've had enough feel free to leave me alone. It's 3:30 and I've got class in the morning.

  • @rjc34 I moved to China and have been working there alone since 16. But I suppose you have problems too. Like what to ask Santa for on Christmas when your parents have already given you everything XD

  • @naryanr Why would a grown adult ask his parents for presents? Hell, I'm the one who buys the presents now.

But I guess you'd know, right?

And hey, I'm not the one bugging you, you're the one who decided it would be fun to troll, and I'm not going to let you just have the last word.

  • @rjc34 Yeah I can make a pretty fair guess.

And yeah I think you'll find you were the one who started on me, so cry if you want.

    Good luck you'll need it.

  • @naryanr This started with my suggesting buying an AMD card for the performance and value, and then adding in a chip nV card for physx processing... then you went off the deep end about how people were getting 'scammed' or whatever.

  • @rjc34 No this *started* with me talking general terms then YOU decided to make it personal, if you can't even admit that then you're going to be here a while.

If you had just written it you wouldn't be here now, but no not writing it AT anybody wasn't enough.

But I understand now. All you really wanted was the last word. I'm trying to prove a point while all you want is to feel like a big shot like every other little kid. Well go ahead, have it, it'll not be read. I've actually got stuff to do.

  • @rjc34 OOOooooo you got him!

  • @rjc34 *here

  • @naryanr Actually, no. I am an AMD loyalist myself however you cannot say that nvidia cards run hotter. Maybe the gtx 400 series yes but when you compare the gtx 500 vs hd 6000 series, the nvidias cards run cooler and quieter. If you dont think this is true then go look on reviews. Also just before you start bitching, Im running 2 hd 6970s. :)

  • @temna11 Yeah I've seen the reviews thanks, and any idiot knows that nVidia cards run hotter than it's counterpart, every idiot except this one it would seem.

So after you've *finished* bitching, maybe you'll go do your homework kid, k?

  • @naryanr What are you talking about? There is NO way you can justify this statement without ONLY comparing the GTX 400 series.

  • @naryanr Now check Mafia 2...

  • I just finished this game 20 minutes ago, you really do notice the PhysX.

  • this is essentially ea saying "screw you amd users, nvidia pays better".

  • @nooblet911 Which is a lie ;)

  • @nooblet911 you can have physX in ATI cards too ...

  • @FF4248 yup i agree

  • was it lagging after 1:00?

  • @theandy038 only because of the slow motion

  • @FF4248 ITS STIL NOT WORKING I HAVE PUT PHYSX ON GPU BUT ONLY THIS GAME PUTS ON CPU. OTHER GAMES LIKE MAFIA 2 WORKS ON GPU

  • @FF4248 I could find the option for PhysX in the 3D settings. also I have chose the PhysXx processor as GPU what should I do?

  • 0:51 the heli isnt coming the same way :O

  • I have a problem. I have a new GeForce GT 540M GPU made in 2011 and a 2nd generation of i5 processor. but wen I run this game on physx the Visual Indicator says that the CPU is processing PhysX not the GPU ( PHYSX >>>CPU ) and not GPU and I have set physx options to the nvidia card. but it wont work, other games like mafia 2 does set the PHYSX >>> GPU. anyone knows how to fix this????

  • nice fake

  • I have an 1.3 GHZ dual core processor, second core overclocked to 1.7GHZ, 4 GB of RAM and an nvidia 335m video card and I get very bad Frame rates (like 10 or less) when I play on medium! No AA etc, WTf? HElp me out! I can run mw2 on highest (extra) just great! like 30 FPS!

  • @coolpants96 I smell a troll....

  • @gearsofwii I am serious man, WTF?

  • i see. when glass shatters and such in normal gameplay, it just disappears, but with physx it realistically bounces off the ground until it settles.

also some parts of the game have been edited with cloth and paper and such and creates yet another realistic experience such as how the form rips and basically bursts.

  • With The New PhysX You Can See Cloth and Plastic!

  • With The New PhysX You Can See Cloth and Platic!

  • @fromspore Your video card wouldn't even run the physics. your CPU would and it would look a tiny bit different and choppy at times.

  • i think i read that there was a hack made to run physx on amd cards.

i'll investigate more when my hd 6970 arrives.

  • @walidb123 you can run physX on AMD cards on some games. And on the newer cards I have found that if yo uhave a good CPU and vid card PhysX actually runs BETTER on ATI cards which is why Nvidia made sure that you have to buy an Nvidia card since its basically their only feature thats different from ATI cards aside from Bokeh filters which I dont like anyway. ATI ftw

  • @4232267 You cant run PhysX on AMD card.

  • @vuckotadic ............. ummm... yes you can

  • @4232267 lol.................

  • @vuckotadic remember. dedicated PhysX just means the GPU runs the physX. it doesnt mean that just because the GPU doesnt run physx you cant run PhysX. all it means is that the CPU runs a great deal of the physics.

  • @4232267 YOU CANT RUN PHYSX ON AMD/ATI GPU. PhysX runs only on NVIDIA GPU or any other CPU.

  • @vuckotadic that would be a better way to say it.

  • @vuckotadic false amd/ati gpu's will run physx ive seen it and have done it, but you will not get the full experience and you will have better results on an nvidia gpu

  • @MrShmango01 ''false amd/ati gpu's '' what?

  • @vuckotadic im telling you that your statement about how amd/ati gpu cards cant use the physx feature is "untrue" or "false"

  • @MrShmango01 Dude, listen: I had a lot of nvidia and amd cards and i know that amd\ati cards CANT run PhysX, so stop bullshiting here.

  • @vuckotadic haha dude im playing with dual 6990m right now with physx on its not very good ill admit but very playable. maybe the cards you used were not that high end cause people can have tessellation problems while playing. you cant look on youtube as well ive seen like 3-4 videos already showing radeon cards using physx...

  • @MrShmango01 Dude, you are NOT running PhysX on 6990m, its running on your CPU.

  • Comment removed

  • @vuckotadic hav eyou ever played Arkham Asylum or Mafia 2 ? Look up physX gameplay on the HD 5670.

  • its cool but not cool that a third of the market can't experience it. even that hose who can are even smaller that have actually decent pc's.. So you end up with a feature in a game that only 1/10 of people will ever see. Its a completly waste of time for devs to bother with it.

  • @fromspore

    /sign

  • Ибо нехуй!

  • @fromspore no... i have ati.. and no you cant

  • whats the need of physx???? nothing!!!! just a waste of memory, to get some piece of hanging cloths to move!!

  • Wow my game was running on highest all and it runned fine (as normal) but every time time glass was broken it was like 1 frame per 3 seconds. I was like WTF is going on so i was tryring to find out and put all at lowest and off but stil did not work. Then i put of my physx and all highest again and runned fine xD

  • this video clearly shown the benefit of having PhysX!!!

you can say all that you want but the right screen on the video looks simply way better!! ok, on not so powerfull computers with a low end video card and can give trouble, but it was also not ment for such computers and cards.

i am a NVidea fan for about 11 years now and with my ENGTX275 i am VERY pleased!!! for me its NVIDEA above ATi every day, but that is just my personal opinion!

    leon

  • @SPYmaps Hey big fan, it's NVIDIA, not NVIDEA.

  • Seriously, everyone trash talks PhysX because "It slows your computer to death" Honestly, its made for higher end systems. its quite nice.

  • it slows down your machine because you don't have a good enough graphics card... if you can't get one then just go back to your console and stop moaning

  • Hooray for adding more annoying shit to the games that not only blocks your view, but also kills your graphics card. GJ nVidia. Glad I chose ATI.

  • @Fooshiiii - Hey, those decorations block your view also. And the sun? The glare just gets in the way, lets take that out too. Oh yeah, and the scenery? Pointless, just slows down the game... See what I did there?

I have a Radeon 5770. I used to have a GeForce 8800GT, and PhysX was definitely cool. I'm sad ATI hasn't done more in physics simulations. They chose to focus on DX11 instead. So, give and take.

  • This is the reason why Im getting a nvidia gpu w/ physx (and 3D vision) for the wow facter of my new gaming pc

  • For my new computer, should I get a GTX 560 Ti or an HD 6950?

  • @Martinntoxx Each card has its own different features ie. Nvidia has 3d vision and AMD has eyefinity. It all depends on your preference and what your using it for.

  • @Martinntoxx GTX560 ti, without a second´s hesitation

  • @jozedwardo And why?

  • I got a problem. in this game the PC uses the processor to play physx and not the graphic card. I have mafia 2 and that is great I play physx on high with my graphic card. anyone know hw to switch physx processors? it didnt help in the control panel of the GPU

  • thumbs up if you think PhysX is good to have =) I love physx

  • On my computer the difference is 50 fps.

  • I see the difference! Lack of Physx makes all cloth invisible!

  • @Tannz0rz now if we can turn real world physx off on hawt ladies!

  • @Tannz0rz WISH THEY HAD IT FOR MY COOKING CLASS NOTHING BUT GIRLS IN THERE :D!!!

  • youtube.com/watch?v=OoPiRMQQ8Jw - Mirror's Edge

  • nice vid...i like physx

  • real gamers like the game at it's best not at it's minimum...like me playing modern warfare 2 with 1fps on wasteland :'(

  • @4uMirabilis h man I Lol'd.. MW2 and you class yourself a real gamer

  • @ThatAdelaideGuy i didn't mean that im a gamer...i just said an example of bad graphics (like me) and it's better to have a good graphic and care about it

  • lag

  • I don't care much for this. Barely any games use it much anyways, they come with their own physics engine. And pretty much all this does is slow down frames :/

... not even PS3 can do what this monster do... =)

  • @Savrollo It's a troll video I made, I connected an xbox-360 controller to my PC.

  • So many people butthurt about graphics improvements. Yeah gameplay is more important but good graphics are awesome too. I've been a hardcore gamer since the 80s and I can tell you graphics MATTER, just like gameplay does.
