Proof of God = Christianity defies human nature: from an atheists point of view christianity would simply have been created by a man. But, if you were to make a religion would you make every natural instinct a sin? You can measure consciousness through brain activity - at least indirectly but we can see when somebody is thinking based on the regions used in the brain. All knowledge outside of what we can observe is meaningless because we have no way of saying whether or not it truly exists. Hope, faith, solace, etc. are not good reasons for believing in something that isn't empirical.

I am saying that many arguments attempting to PROVE OR DISPROVE the existence of the tooth fairy, God, Bigfoot, etc. often both lack any evidence. When an Atheist says there is absolutely no God is pretty much identical in an argumentative sense to saying God absolutely does exist. The Scientific method requires evidence of something that exists to ramify a theory. So having evidence of something that doesn't means you can not have a plausible theory. You can't disprove something like a god. Theists make the positive claim that there is a god, and they have thus far failed to demonstrate that there is, in fact, some sort of supernatural deity. We who are not making the positive claim cannot DISprove the existence of a deity. The burden of proof is on those who are making the claim, and not those who realize the lack of evidence and say, "I don't buy it. Show me some evidence, guys."
You can't come up with one argument to disprove God. But a lot of the stories in the bible have been disproven. And the bible is structured so that every piece has to fit or the picture doesn't work. So if you look at the whole thing it falls apart. You have to see the whole picture. You can't just pick and choose your arguments and win the debate. You can measure consciousness through brain activity - at least indirectly but we can see when somebody is thinking based on the regions used in the brain. All knowledge outside of what we can observe is meaningless because we have no way of saying whether or not it truly exists. Hope, faith, solace, etc. are not good reasons for believing in something that isn't empirical.

The Scientific method requires evidence of something that exists to ramify a theory. So having evidence of something that doesn't means you can not have a plausible theory. It is very hard to disprove God, just as it is in reality to prove that God exists truly with hard evidence. We who are not making the positive claim cannot DISprove the existence of a deity. You can't come up with one argument to disprove God. But a lot of the stories in the bible have been disproven. And the bible is structured so that every piece has to fit or the picture doesn't work. So if you look at the whole thing it falls apart. You have to see the whole picture. You can't just pick and choose your arguments and win the debate. As time goes on the bible will probably be disproven totally. All gods throughout time have disappeared due to new discoveries.

Also, people have been NOT believing in a deity for thousands of years as well. Atheism isn't a new concept. It's been around just as long, if not longer, than theism has. Once you PROVE that God exists, then the burden of proof will shift to us to attempt to disprove it.
