I did this update once before on an old Kindle 3G, but I need to redo it on a new device (same device, the old one was just damaged) and it doesn't seem to be working. I keep getting an error message saying the update is not successful. What am I doing wrong?

What program did you use to resize the image to 600/800? I tried using Paint and it will only let me select integers of 100-500.

@sherberri I used paint, you can use any image editing program for this, there are tutorials all over the internet on resizing images.

@sherberri Make sure you choose pixels and not percent. I had the same issue at first until I realized that the default is percent.

@TheCaitlinsawday Sorry for the late reply, special offers is a slightly cheaper version of the kindle, but with advertisements. I strongly recommend you don't buy this version.

Question: Everything worked for me, but the screensaver just stays on one picture. I have about 13 .png pictures I put in the screensaver file, and I put them in alphabetical order so they'd play in the order I wanted them to be–files are Aabby, Aaemily, Bemily…and so on…but only the first picture shows up and doesn’t switch to the next. I restarted twice…nothing. Help? Thanks

@snc1386 All the other websites that give tutorials say you put the files in a folder called random then you put that folder in the screensavers folder, I'm not sure if this will work because i don't have my kindle 3 yet but it wouldn't hurt to try.

@cherryvanilla17 as I said multiple times in the video, description, and comments, this hack DOES NOT work for the ad version. It is also illegal. If you bought the ad version, you agreed to adhere to the ads. Don't rip off amazon.

@gogorochelle Did you read the comment I posted? If your kindle is version 4.2.1, check out the link in the description for a fix.

@ifhgsfj It works fine on 3.1. Don't try it with the sponsored ad versions, because that's illegal and it probably won't work. Check out the forum where the downloads are, maybe others have similar issues.
