i have a mac and i say both comp are unique and i think its pathetic that people fight over them sure mac isint good with games thats because its new and its REALLY good with homework PCs are now pretty much what everyone used before macs so its good with gaming but it has some glitches with homework stuff like not easy to find files or not really organized.
people say macs can't game because of their lack of support from popular games. but it is also because the higher end models with the new processors require almost 2 times the amount of money than what you would get with a PC
8gb dd3 1333 GeForce GTS 450 Intel Core i7 2.8 GHz Processor Windows 7 home premium and it will some your mac by a mile and wont cost as much so stfu.btw look up alien ware pcs and laptops they have twice the power.
@LucMathlin That's debatable. Keep in mind that this Xeon has more level 2 cache than the sandy bridge. The L2 cache really does matter. Think about it, one of the biggest difference that made the Pentium III difference from a Celeron, was mostly just it's level 2 cache size, and the performance difference was big.
was this suppose to be impressive? for such a common game the graphics are not even high let alone maxed out, and it's already struggling with what seems to be 20fps and under.
theres only few games that a mac can play. so i decided to have 2 laptop one mac operating for work and a windows operating for gaming(i used this more than macbook though)
Umm nope.. Gotta prove you wrong there but I've been to a few workplaces and I've seen that they have been using Mac Pro's and iMac's for design purposes...
They're especially good for graphics design.. (:
I use an iMac for the same purposes as hakemon.. (:
I think the inability to game on macs no longer applies since they all use intel hardware and the PCI-E standard for GPUs. They are just overpriced, albeit, very nice looking, pcs.
Either way, apple/macintosh never came out with parts geared toward high end performance at the time. I remember when mac FINALLY got the X800 series of GPUs and the PC market was way into the X1k lineup and the Geforce 7 series. Until they paired with intel, the reason people couldnt reasonably game on a mac was because the parts just werent there, and neither were the drivers optimized for gaming.
It all depends on how well the game is coded and/or ported to the mac. Macs are essentialy PCs now (if it has an x86 cpu) so gaming on macs should get better. From what I can tell, i wouldnt say no to your system, it seems to play those games very well! 5*
Exactly. During the PPC days, no one bothered to optimize the ports, and left some clunky code. The only thing left really is propper OpenGL engines (some games are D3D only on windows and will require some changes), and operating system API's.
I just wish youtube would hurry up and encode the HQ version of this video, I kept it all in 720x480 res from the DV tape..

stays odd, apple refuses AMD processors, but do accept GPU's. if I were AMD, I'd sue Apple and Intel for hardware discrimination :0

I don't game that much to begin with. I use it for video editing and photography, including CG effects for video effects..
See, I do stuff on this machine other than pleasure, for business.
hakemon 2 years ago 2
@hakemon
You use a Mac Pro for business? Fail. The Mac Pro is a gaming machine that can't run games.
MacBook for work, desktop PC for gaming.

@Daputti Mac Pros are for super high end media editing the Macbooks and iMacs can't handle, as well as Mac servers

OS X is bad for servers, even Apple uses Solaris to run their own site.

Macs always used a standard interface since their PCI days and up. They went pci, pci64, agp, then pci-e.
Thats not to say nubus wasnt standard.
