FumeFX is an amazing plugin to get awesome volumetric results, just as long as you're careful about how far you push your computer. Gotta find the sweet spot between quality and performance, or else the sim will crash Max.
I'm actually working on a video with effects in the style of Dragonball Evolution. One simple Particle Flow emitter and some FumeFX magic makes for an almost exact replica of the Ki aura seen in the film. I love how fast FFX renders too.
