  • Bunin likes fast music huh

  • This is like Chopin it would have played.

  • Played the last set of notes as a chord and I JIZZED IN MY PANTS!!!

  • looks like he is receiving a blow

  • the interpretation! <3

  • w0w why does it look like its computer generated?

  • virtuoso

  • looks like computer graphics

  • Much better then many players. Not so fast like Jung Lin and with much more passion and respect for Chopin. After Valentina Igoshina this is the next best performance.

  • Stan dear, you just blow my mind with this kind of playing.

As the saying going in some cultures: "If you don't play Chopin, you don't play the piano." You are the PIANIST!

Chopin being my favorite I hear his music often but few moved me the way you did with this performance of a much favorite among many people!

God's richest blessings upon you and hope your wonderful playing will inspire more people to learn the piano and cultivate the classics!

  • Brilliant performance, very sensitive and played with feeling. I do prefer Jung Lin's interpretation, much faster tempo similar to the greats (Horowitz, Hoffmann, Gilels) and she plays with surreal passion and more intensity, only my opinion. :-)

  • Hey check out my interpretation of this piece of music and comment!

  • I agree with MrFreddyKempf and Gospel. He has passion and plays naturally the piece. The music flows like a river on his hands. And I would like to question what are your opinions about Valentina Lisistsa?

  • A screen is disappointing!

  • Man this might be the best interpretation I've heard. Bunin plays the second section so well. Its full of life and has direction, perfect rubato, like Chopin himself would be playing. Most other versions of the second section can drag and be boring, this version really grabs your attention.

  • I identify myself a lot with Bunin... If I were a concertist, my interpretations would be so much like his.

  • 23 people give this video thumbs down? They must be deaf.

  • His playing introduced Chopin to me again....Look at the body language at the end of the piece. I'd be [proud to be Polish just by Chopin himself.

  • Hands down one of the best interpretations of this piece..Phenomenal..for me

  • I can not express in words what Bunin express with gestures and movements ...

Of the most faithful to the masterpieces of one of my greatest heroes: Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin.

  • This is fantastic. It is just perfect. I love Chopin and this pianist is really good too. Like:)

  • dont really like this guys other videos here, but this piece is perfect for him!

  • Lizt and Chopin the most virtuosos pianists in the world...their music will be inmortal...

    both beyond the simpel mortals

  • I agree with you GospelAccording2ME, his interpretion is MAGNIFICENT! Bravo!!!

  • my favorite version of this piece. His dynamics is perfect.

  • Why are all the best players Russian? o.0

  • @Barkspawn liszt was hungarian rubinstein was polish chopin was polish o:

  • @Tristius Horowitz, Ginzburg, Kissin, Lisitsa, Valentina, Mikhail Rudy, Bunin...

  • @funfor1life "Kissin,Lisitza"????????My dear ,you do NOT unterstand anything in music, when you are seriously comparing these pianists.....Excuse-moi,your ignorance is obvious.

  • @Vije4ka He wasn't comparing the pianists talent, he was merely listing Russian pianists. No reason to be condescending and tell someone they don't understand anything about music, especially when you entirely misunderstood their post.

I'm inclined to believe those who go around saying others "understand nothing about music" are the ones who clearly don't understanding anything about music, because they obviously don't know music speaks to people differently.

  • @OriginalBasaliskos Thank you! I was checking my mail box (on my YT account) and this is the second harsh reply I get from someone who actually did not understand what I was saying.. Getting insulted is disturbing, but getting insulted by fools is rather reassuring...

  • @Vije4ka Simply listing some great Russian interpreters as you suggested Barkspawn's comment was off the mark

  • why do they wear suits, if i was that good i would show up in a t-shirt and dirty jeans...like this is how ya do it byatches.

  • fantastic from bubima

  • This guy is awesome!!!!!!! btw blart, this is obviously kip XD

  • I saw him play about 20 years ago. He played Chopin with the most romance and feel. I love his interpretation of Chopin. He seemed very shy and dreamy between pieces, very endearing.

  • Weak.

  • Chopin hated this piece! He never played it after! And do all pianists have weird hair?

  • @CharlzTheAssasin haha no don't worry! :)

  • from 1:10 to 1:16

This part is often played by left hand only.

Using both hands is what I've once thought of , but I've never tried because I didn't know anyone who did so.

    Flexibility...

Anyway I like how Bunin put color on this piece.

  • @pastenyt yeah i play it just with my left hand too! :)

  • Comment removed

  • nice moustache

  • @tan73h haha

  • Bravo!!!!

  • Never heard this piece of music played with more feeling and pure artistry. Usually played like some kind of horse race. Bravo, Sir Bunin

  • he played it really really well, but think of what kind of mind Chopin must have had to compose this masterpiece.

  • Chopin and Satie are my two faves ♥

Both have a romantic way in their music composition. :)

Gah, im gonna run to a store and buy a 100+ songs of Chopin CD right now! XD

  • Lady Gaga is my favorite. True story.

  • eh? what do you mean? O.O

  • lolol

  • This is actually one of Chopins posthumous works, he requested that this piece not be published because he was unsatisfied with the piece.

  • @grooveman69 There is the theory that he thought it was too close to a study by Moscheles - but in that case it is an elaboration which takes a scaffold and rebuilds it into a palace :-)

  • @grooveman69 Why didn't he just burn it?

  • he was going to but died before he could, he thought it resembled to much like Bethovans - moonlight sonata and didnt want to hear that from critics.

  • Of course it resembled the moonloght sonata, Chopin intentionally used the descending stream of notes from the end of the 3rd movement of the Beethoven sonata at 0:14 to 0:16 in the video.

  • great interpretation. what fascinates me is that chopin could manage to write such intricate pieces as he does.

  • HE IS SIMPLY THE BEST!

  • Thank fuck I bought Eternal Sonata.

  • lol. I actually hated the game because of how cheesy it was but the whole concept of it was pretty intense in an awesome kind of way.

  • i do prefer valentina igoshina much more

  • This dude is crazy-sick! Brilliant piece written by one of the most gifted composers ever to walk this planet. As for his interpretation and body language, I think he's calling upon all that is in him to execute this piece with passion and vigor. As a listener, I have more appreciation for his performance knowing he's completely in the moment. He's giving all of himself during this performance, just as I'm sure Chopin did when he composed it. Bravo!

  • Gospel, I strongly agree. I love his passion also.

  • it's actually...easy...when you ahev 4 hands...as he does

  • infact chopin didnt like this piece and in later life he strogly regretted allowing it to be published

  • Grande! Thank's!

  • His interpretation is very appropriate !

  • it's better than yundi li's

  • i prefer yundi's version...

  • is O2JAM's Electro Fantasy use this song?

  • Low IQ

  • finally a very good interpretation... a great expression of the romantic period! thank god!

it seems like no many famous pianists really understand this piece!

  • I personally prefer Valentina Igoshina's interpetation over this. Nice played though!

  • Igoshina played this piece with delicacy and softness, but Bunin shows more passion and strength. I prefer Bunin's since this piece is called "Fantasie" Impromptu, and it is supposed to be Allegro Agitato.

  • Or well, I don't agree with you that Bunin shows more passion and strength..

  • really? Bunin's interpretation includes a lot more dramatic changes in tempo and strength. Igoshina is rather holding the emotions to a certain limit, making her performance sound like she is trying not to lose herself in the avalanche of emotions. But Bunin lets it out.

  • Yeah, maybe, but I have the feeling that it's NOT supposed to be let out. Igoshina gets close to the line, but she doesn't cross it. I think Bunin does that.

  • well, you may be right. I'm rather used to the east European style that is more explosive and more open expression wise. Since this impromptu is one of the later works when he was in France, the environment must have affected his style of composition.

  • You might be right. Still, Valentina's keep the mysterious which I think this doesn't. It's a bit too personal.

  • caricama, acting. it's all in a performance, but I love it.

  • Do you play any instrument? I think you'd understand if you do. Even I, who has only played piano for a little more than two years, have to incorporate all the emotions possible in a recital or even an audition. I get to play(or practice) the piece hundreds and thousands of times before I actually go up on the stage, but I don't think that affects how I show my emotions within the piece in any way. And I believe it is even more so with professional musicians.

  • i agree !

  • I'm not saying I don't like Igoshina's interpretation. I just prefer Bunin's over hers. I've listened to Igoshina's far more than I did Bunin's. I love Igoshina's smooth touch; I can even feel her love and care. Bunin and Igoshina are both fantastic pianists.

  • Agree D;

  • @caricama

I think that Yundi Li could completely PWN both of them :P

    But that's just me

  • completely PWN? I dont think so.

But truely Yundi takes his best on this piece!

  • oh my god..this the best thing i ve ever heard.congratulations

  • Splendido.......

  • mamma mia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nice! A differente interpretation, with feeling....

  • listen to Yundi Li's interpretation of this--it's MUCH faster and with less rallentando. Both very musical interpretations. Personally, I prefer Li's. Though this is a romantic piece, I think Bunin overuses rallentando and the music feels interrupted at times, and then suddenly sped up. Yundi, on the other hand, is mesmerizing O_O.

Working on this piece myself. Beautiful. =]

  • actually it must be faster!

Yundi Li plays it with the correct speed! :)

  • no way... couldnt be a wig. anyway, this is a damn good interpretation.

  • This is my favorite song of all time<3

  • realmente magnifico!!!!!

  • what an awsome wig

  • is that really a wig?!?!

    XD

  • I like his special phrases and fluctuation of dynamic. It was a revelation to discover his playing.

  • beyond genius!

  • Bunin- the most beautiful.

  • Genius, divine...

  • elevating.

    eternal

  • 1:08 Sit down man!

  • LOL. hahaha.

  • lol

  • no,,, viva la buninn!!

  • Yundi Li's interpretation is better by far.

  • not better.. it's different! ;)

  • Enchanting !

  • his mustache suggests he has a collection of snuff porn in his basement but his skills suggests that he's never had the time to watch any of them from practicing piano lol. anyways, great performance!

  • lol, what the hell?

  • i didn't know napoloen dynamite plays piano

  • @blart7 this is obviously kip!

  • Great version.

  • very good !

  • I love how he plays the 12th measure (0:22).

  • I wonder how he did it so gently~

  • just relaxing ur arms before playing... put them as low as possible

  • nice.

    good job

  • WIERD AL!! haha this guy does play it perfectly though. Hes totally rockin out to it too

  • This version's speed is just about perfect. If you listen to Yundi Li, you'll see what I mean.

  • Comment removed

  • best performance ever!

  • just needs to be slowed down?? everyone always has to put in there two sense as if they can play it that well...

  • no man its supposed to be played fast

  • cents*

  • its supposed to play this fast..

  • Just as if it was the first time as i was listening to this fantaisie impromptu. Beautiful !

  • that's because of the horizontal compression

  • He sits hella close to the piano.

  • that's a killer moustache that he has

  • Electro Fantasy.... I like it!!!!

  • Yah he does play very expressively, but that's important. You can't be stiff when you're playing. Piano is like dancing, you just have to let go and flow.

  • 俺は一生かかってもここまでいけないだろうと思わされてしまうなww

    うますぎですwwww

  • He has style, he is original and he has talent. Nice rendition.

  • He does, He is, no doubt. Great pianist !

  • he's kinda showy....but he plays well

  • Humm...idk about "showy" I mean...while playing he really looks into it, i don't think he means to show off at all nor be concerned with what the public thinks as hes playing it. I mean at least i believe when youre playing the piano, you should really allow yourself to express yourself. Not worry about how people are gonna view you while playing it =/

  • yeah, i guess you're right....i just thought his actions were a bit exaggerated.

  • Humm because the world doesnt allow you to be flamboyantly expressive. Thus when one person DOES dare and do it, you get such reactions =/

  • やっぱりうまいー。。音がきれいすぎる。。

  • very expressive...better than Yundi Lee and Valentina Igoshina

  • Isn't his last name spelled "Li"? Anywho, not that it matters..>__>

I disagree, I think Li's playing is just "playing". I don't feel anything from him. But, you know, that's just my opinion. xP

  • i dont agree with you JViti!

All the young chinese or japanese just want to play it faster than the other ones, thats why i dont really like lang lang or yundi li!!

There´s no feeling inside! They are just looking on sheet and playing

  • WHUUUUUUUURRRDD BROOO

  • It's very good, but I prefer Yundi Lee performance

  • very good, but listen to valentina igoshina

  • Listened...nothing special. I prefer Bunin: his interpretation speaks more to my musical feelings. I think his manner is more close to style of Chopin's music and more rich in colours and frazing than the one of Igoshina (she is really nice pianist however)

  • BRAVO Bunin!

  • Not bad at all. Better than Horowitz maybe but but he's no Cziffra.

  • woooow!!! His fingers are so "Squishy" (?) eer.., It looks fast and soft! And his glasses is so shiny..

  • played toperfection

  • Nice!

  • this is my favourite interpretation and it will always be :)

  • i prefer vladimir horowitz hair lolzzz

  • He Is My Father!

  • 彼の指がもう少し遅かったら、逆に音楽に深みが宿っていたでしょうね。

  • amazing

  • Nice job. I still prefer the 'Mills' interpretation. More authentic. Chopin was dealing with his nemesis Liszt, although his prime areas (chopin), would be in his melodical skills, at the time he composed this piece he was still a teen trying to 'one up' his rival Liszt. ..Mills playing probably best repesents the performance he invisioned.

  • Frycek nasz to skomponował między obiadem a deserem a kolo pewnie sie pół roku do koncertu przygotowywał ;) ale ładnie wyszło nie powiem, bravo:)

  • nice play..but got 3 misses spot..

  • ONLY 3?! wow! his hands are moving so fast and he knows the piano so well!

  • Superb!

  • Wow... finally a video here on youtube where the pianist is not playing the whole beginning in the same high speed that. To many people do that...

  • this man works magic with his fingers!

not just in this vid, but all of his others too!
