I'm way past the college phase of my life but I watched this and totally got everything you said (well apart from the girls bit - I'm a girl!). Um why the hell weren't you my guidance counselor? I went to a school in the middle of nowhere (far North California) and all my guidance counselors refused to help me no matter how many times I saw them..they didn't even know the courses I needed to transfer..
My teachers always told me not to take the hard classes because they were..well..hard haha. No inspiration! :(
This is so funnny, I'm applying for colleges now, including Carnegie Mellon actually (its one of my top schools) and that is exactly what i'm thinking. I'm applying for visual arts (painting and drawing). Its pretty weird, at this precise moment, I'm trying to write the essay for them, and decided to procrastonate for a minute and this video comes up in my subscription box... weird.

not everyone can go to MIT. and for a lot of people that ends up being an enormous waste of money
