@ninmachine109 She's not a pet, she's a rescue. These folks do rehabilitation for rescued wildlife. If you want to work with wild creatures then that is a good dream to have, but definitely one that requires time and commitment. Try volunteering for a wildlife rehab center to see if it's right for you. Foxes are not domesticated and while they can be lovely partners they cannot be tame in the way dogs and cats are :)

@sonbuhitsunei There are a lot of states (and countries) with different pet laws. Some states require permits, some don't, and some just don't allow foxes at all. Fennecs, I think, are the most common fox pet because many states are more lenient on them.

Also, reds and fennecs can't interbreed, if that's what you were getting at.

This is a wild animal. They can’t be totally domesticated as a dog can. This is why it’s always scared. They never totally trust humans and when that happens trouble can arise. I know this by experience. They tolerate you but they never trust you much.

@manysons Kevie gets frightened very easily and we have some pretty hard walls. It's easier to step on the leash when she gets scared rather than chase her through the house where she can potentially hurt herself. The leash poses as no threat to her and she has become accustomed to it.

Rockwork may also be considered for cover, as the overhang it creates blocks out direct light. @sum0f1 try just leaving the leash on her and letting her walk around while you ignore her...i had a grown dog that hadnt been leash trained and just let him walk around with it on...not all the time just for 15 min. then when he got used to it i left it on for 30 min, until he was basically ignoring the leash. but the whole time i didnt acknowledge him or that there was anything different. i just moved on and let him workit out on his own...worth a try if you havent already. :) hope it helps!

@ATBliss We've cared for both males and females over the years and in our experience, it was the males that was harder to manage. Then on the other hand, the females have more responsibilities that nature has put onto them and we understand that. So I guess it just all depends on how you look at it. It isn't as simple as the difference between males & females, you have to understand why there is a difference. Thanks for dropping by! :o)
