i think there is a odd yet unique mix of 1) angry delivery that is not in itself funny 2) clever working of the material 3) awkward timing which at times makes it seem as if he is dying on stage & you are witnessing this embarrassing moment 4) the anti popular culture theme that he nails & makes anyone at least reflect on what they see as normal.

I can see his point, but I sat through the whole video and didn't laugh at all. I think this is the first stand up routine I have ever seen that I didn't enjoy. His timing is not good, he went randomly from talking in a monotonous bored tone as if he doesn't want to be there, to an angry shouting voice. He also kept on going with the same jokes for too long.
This could be funny if it was filtered down into maybe 4 or 5 minutes and delivered by someone that smiled or laughed during the set.

Comedy is subjective and humour is usually shared between people that have similar opinions and interests. I too hate top gear and find the presenters objectionable, therefore this strikes a chord with me and I find it very funny. If you don't detest top gear and it's presenters then your not likely to find it as amusing.

I can see his point, but I sat through the whole video and didn't laugh at all. I think this is the first stand up routine I have ever seen that I didn't enjoy. His timing is not good, he went randomly from talking in a monotonous bored tone as if he doesn't want to be there, to an angry shouting voice. He also kept on going with the same jokes for too long.
This could be funny if it was filtered down into maybe 4 or 5 minutes and delivered by someone that smiled or laughed during the set.

Comedy is subjective and humour is usually shared between people that have similar opinions and interests. I too hate top gear and find the presenters objectionable, therefore this strikes a chord with me and I find it very funny. It's impossible to judge comedy fairly, everyone has different tastes. Whether it's low or high brow comedy, the end result is that it has to make you laugh, think or both. I enjoy slapstick as much as I enjoy satire and this is the most well crafted comedic sketch I've seen so far. I never used to find Stewart Lee particularly funny despite being a fan of his message... but now I think he is one of the funniest comedians around.
I do find it funny how people love to comment on his snobbery or his 'faux intelligence' (as someone put it) without seeing the irony.

This feels more like a rant than comedy to me, especially the bit where Lee wishes all of Clarkson's daughters would go blind. And by this point, the audience's laughter sounds more hysterical, everything-is-funny laughter than genuine guffaw.
Don't get me wrong, it was brilliant and elegantly put, but not really that funny, to me... Even if it is an exaggerated satirisation.
