@richard1972r no matter how much time AF gets it will never become as big as soccer, and alot of that is because of the equitment needed to play it. the population of alot of countries that play soccer (mainly the african nations, south american, eastern European) cant afford to buy pads, helmets and tights and all the training equipment just to play a sport. american football will only ever be first sport, or even a popular sport in 1st world or rich nations. no matter how much time its given.
