@loanaea : these days we prefer the term desertrock if it concerns QOTSA. Stonerrock got its name & fame because the peeps in the desert came together, smoked some homegrown weed and enjoyed the music while the bands were playing as loud as they can powered by generators (hence generatorparties)

The first band of Josh Homme was Katzenjammer later renamed Sons of Kyuss than shortened to Kyuss

Stonerpioneers are indeed Kyuss but also Monster Magnet, Fu Manchu, Masters of Reality ...
