I just compared the timeline in the book of Genesis with evolution's. Evolution goes: light, water, fish, land plants, land animals, birds, man. All the bones used to support human evolution have been found to be either hoaxes, non-human, or human, but not both non-human and human. Evolution simply cannot be true. we would see hundreds of half evolved fossils everywhere. Creation just makes sense, not as an idea, but with evidence. If you would like more information on their perspective there is a book by the famous Jack Chick of Chick Tracts that explains this view (namely that the Catholic Church is actually the Whore of Babylon mentioned in Revealations). We don't have a book that tells us gays should be stoned, you can't eat lobster or pigs and you should annihilate nonbelievers. Bad people will do bad things and good people will do good things. But for good to do bad things, you need religion.

The way I see it, neither science nor religion can explain everything, so until one can give us all the answers the other can't, I think there's enough room for both philosophies. I really don't think that either is exclusive to the other.

I would love to believe that the whole Creation number comes from the O.T., but since there's lots more to Creation than what's in the O.T., I suspect Creation comes from people that interpreted the O.T. for others.
I used to think this interpreting for others was a pleasant & altruistic gig, until professionals (doctors, lawyers) interpreted me as so evil as to make bin Laden seem to be Messiah, Savior, scoutmaster, & pope all in one.

There's no evidence that humans evolved from some ape-like ancestor anymore than there's evidence that apes, along with lemurs and monkeys, evolved from some dog-like ancestor. All the bones used to support human evolution have been found to be either hoaxes, non-human, or human, but not both non-human and human. In fact I really like the idea that people can look at the world in all kinds of ways that are more metaphor then reality. Because the reality is that most of the science we use to explain it most people don't even understand. I can hold two opposite beliefs simutaneously, it's called a paradox and can lead me to higher truths.

@JoJaDaRu I personal want my beliefs to be aligned with reality, cognitive dissonance is not fun at all . I am familiar with paradoxes, but I don't like the enforcement of such things on others. The reason why is that there are many beliefs out there which cause conflicts when people start to have a "we against them" mentality. I know science is hard to understand but it doesn't mean we should stop learning at least simplify the teaching.

Obviously I think evolution, the big bang, etc. should be in school. But I think those old stories still have purpose today. Understanding who we are and were we come from, etc.

Evolution simply cannot be true. we would see hundreds of half evolved fossils everywhere. Creation just makes sense, not as an idea, but with evidence. Most scientists(the ones who actually study the specifications of the earth) can't believe that random chance was responsible for our intricate human body, the earth's distance from the sun, it's rotation...I'll bet that the "smart" people of christopher columbus' day were blown away (or didn't believe) when people announced a round world.

If you would like more information on their perspective there is a book by the famous Jack Chick of Chick Tracts that explains this view (namely that the Catholic Church is actually the Whore of Babylon mentioned in Revealations). That said, I think if Christians today were more like first century ones they'd be fine but they can be nutty.

@DutchDeath75 -- Maybe so, but there are also good people who choose to believe that the bad things they are TOLD to do in the Bible/Koran/etc. were misinterpreted by the scribes, or as a test of a person's morality.
The way I see it, neither science nor religion can explain everything, so until one can give us all the answers the other can't, I think there's enough room for both philosophies. I really don't think that either is exclusive to the other.
