when doing a higher speed run you shouldn't jack on your brakes like that, you'll go through brakes like nuts that way. just put in in neutral and let it coast down to a normal speed. unless you had shit to avoid, couldn't tell by the video
Yes, very rare. I've only seen three others on the road in the four years I've owned mine: one in CA, two in NJ. That's why I put up with all its limitations, it's nice having a car no one else does. (And that I can afford.)
The Viggen isn't super rare....I've probably seen about three of them in the Northeast of America since I've "followed" Saabs since last summer (2008) when I bought mine.
lol.... north east meaning new england? saabs are new england cars pretty much! I've seen 6 different viggens since they came out. also lived in the the uk until last feb... so I'd say they are pretty rare!
A 93 viggen down to 5.3 seconds? I have my doubts, it would take more than 250 HP! That means if I get a nordic stage4 I should be at 4.8 seconds. NO Way! I am thinking a realistic 5.7 second 0-60 time and a 14.3 1/4 mile. As for the supra, Its easier to tune jap cars, SAABs do not TUNE well they are built GOOD and is a great everyday driver, plenty quick You are sitting at that light by the time they have hit that 1/8 mile when you are driving a front wheel drive.
Well not really, an anti roll bar will help but not as much as say a change of tyres or a lowering/adjusting of the suspension or much more likely the addition of a LSD would in terms of grip.
Adding an anti roll bar certainly will not get you "4 sec or better (to 60mph) with fwd". As I said, you need extensive modifications to duck under about 5.5 seconds with a FWD car.
yeah of course lsd and tires are more important but people overlook the helpfulness of anti-roll bars. its a 90 dollar upgrade that can make your fwd feel like a subaru in the turns and in terms of torque steer reduction its the best thing you can do after lsd. and then for 0-60 more power and less weight will always do the trick.
that is interesting. i have a viggen and the wheels spin like crazy...it pisses me off! or if the traction control goes on, it stops the accelleration. what is lsd
Thanks for the info, ya no way i'd put lsd on my car...i actually like torque steer! it's a lively response from your car that gives you a feeling of accellerating even faster than you really are.
that is interesting. i have a viggen and the wheels spin like crazy...it pisses me off! or if the traction control goes on, it stops the accelleration. what is lsd
lsd= limited slip differential. it goes between the gearbox and the drive train to make it so both front wheels spin with the same force. this will make it so you have better traction and you wont have to fight the steering wheel as much under heavy acceleration. i dont know how much for a saab, but im guessing around 4000 USD.
stop it. for all of us actualy do own a viggen. we all know that there i no traction control. and a big piss off is front wheel drive understear. dont prentend you have one then bitch about the traction control... if i have to say agian. it doesnt have it
I have a 2002 Viggen with traction control. They only put it in midway in the 2002 year is what I've heard, on some of them. It is definitely traction control too, if I get any wheelspin it just kills the power. I pretty much turn it off every time I get in the car, although I'm trying to program it to stay off. So anyway chill out, you just turned the table on yourself and you look like an asshole.
I own a Viggen. And it has traction control. I turn it off everytime I start the car up. if I dont turn it off and I get wheel spin, the engine cuts power. Traction control my friend ;-)
An anti roll bar is designed to help level the car in cornering by effectivly keeping upwards wheel travel equal on both sides of the car. This will not significantly help in the straight line traction of the car. 4 seconds or better? are you on crack?
ok i was exaggerating. but i timed it i can get 5.7 seconds in my 1999 saab 9-3 with bolt ons, racing clutch/flywheel, and an anti roll bar. the bar reduced torque steer by keeping the car level so the front wheels have more balanced traction at all times.
@Viggzen OMG you've sold Viggen for BMW? Saab is a lifestyle not only a car to drive fast in it. And you've sold classic car with huge soul inside for cheap toy. I don't get it at all...
it looks fast because its in km not mph

I agree front wheel drive is a major limiting factor.. but then, this car does 50 to 100km/h in only 3 secs so it could be true.
5.5 secs to 60mph is a kind of wall for front wheel drive, after that you usually need more grip and/or less weight to go faster.
Energonorama 4 years ago
if you put 25+ mm anti roll bar you can get 4 sec.or better with fwd.
samsamsamsamsamaaaaa 3 years ago
nope. sorry.
Energonorama 3 years ago
think about what you said... "you need more grip and/or less weight to go faster" the anti roll bar balances the car out so you have more grip.

davibrass 3 years ago
When you accelerate quickly sometimes only one of your front wheels will spin.
An LSD tries to stop this from happening by sending power/torque to the other wheel that is not spinning.
Basically the power is shared equally so if one wheel hits a puddle and spins, the other wheel should be given more power and pull you out.
Personally unless you plan on keeping your saab forever I wouldnt bother with an lsd. Put slightly wider wheels/tyres on instead.

So what is the TCS if it's not traction control? I understood that there was not traction control the first year they made it and then it was put in.

Dont get me wrong.. I loooooove saab but the supra is faster..

i have a viggen and i would expect the supra to be faster, but remember the vig is a 2.3L 4 cylinder, produced more power per liter than the 911
davibrass 4 years ago
of course supra is faster its rwd straight 6 twin turbo; as far as saabs go they are damn good for fwd and little 4 bangers
ctc2531 4 years ago
yep, however rwd does not give the supra an advantage in a straight line
davibrass 4 years ago
rwd is an advantage in a straight line because of the weight transfer

14600 euro is a good price. I live in belgium by the way, and i saw one here, bone stock, blue, taken care of, for 13000 euro.
Congrats for the e36!! A blue one?
