I'm 19 now and its only after stumbling on this video now, I realize it was her cuz I remember meeting her after the show, she had dreadlocks. I also remember African men beating drums.

  • man i luv dis tune! AND SOCA!!!!!! been listenin to it foreva and i'm still not bored.

wots the language of the lyrics by the way?

  • Other than the latter part of this song being in english is this really still Allison?

  • @lovethecaribbean1 Yes, it is. And i don't think latter is a english word? Allisson resung the whole song, because only then she could claim the copyrights.

  • @AngelusBProductions

Latter is an english word meaning the last/later part. The beginning of this track is not in english only the latter part so Allison must have had this falma-ding that if its a real person and not a title singing the first part of this whole track. As obviously the second part is in english

  • @lovethecaribbean1 Yes, it still is her.

  • i love this song its creole franch

  • my mother is obsessed with this song!

  • @ilive4mj88 you mother may be obsessed with this song my older sister go crazy when this song play.

  • I hope there are more Surinamese people out there who can help translate this song for the people on here, and once and for all end this debate about the language of this song.

  • The song Faluma is an orignal Surinamese song, No barbadian can tell you what she's singing because it's not in their language, it's a Surinamese language spoken by the maroon people here. In Suriname many languages are spoken. in the song i can make out just a few words, and that's about it, the language goes to deep for me. Bovru = buffalo, kapasi = wild pig, dagu = dog. She starts the song probably asking something to a woman (mama).

Love Square One for making a Suriname song a world wide hit

  • THIS SONG IS POWEFUL MAKES YOU WANT TO DANCE FOR THE ANCESTORS AND REPRESENT.

  • fffaaalluummmaaaa! aayyyeeee!!!!!! this was a good mix. I had to get up. I love the wars about which country should take credit btw. u don't argue with ignorant peeps...they will never come out of it. Creole is not only French...I can say its broken Arawak and Portuguese. Its lang made from and by our ancestors in order for us now speak English! It is broken African in my book. they had to forget their lang to adapt

  • this songs livee ....faluma ding ding ding!!! LOOL :)

  • Big up GT!

  • yeps this song is a language native to suriname called sranan tongo i guess u could say its similar to what we trinis call patios

  • ppll just so u kn ow this song is not HAITIAN it is south american Suriname song by a bajan/barbadoes singer so dun get it twisted for those who don't know.

  • JOSIAS TE QUIERO ADRIANA

  • me recuerda al amor de mi vida

  • thanks for lookn dat up on Wikipedia, but her mom and dad are from GT,Guyana...her mom moved to Barbados in her teens!!!My mom went to school wit her mom in Guyana...

  • actually Alison Hinds parents are From Guyana!!!!she moved to Barbados when she wuz 12!!!!

  • Actually she was born in London England, but her mom and dad separated so her mom and her moved back to their hometown in Barbados.

  • This is an African dialect not Creole! And Alison is Bajan!

  • Just to clear the confusion, this is not Haitian Creole.

  • Creole is broken french. Creole was the language spoken by the french slaves in Haiti.

  • Creole is much more than broken french. There are several types of creole stemming from different languages. For example, Jamaican is creole stemming from English and Crioulo (Cape Verdean) is creole stemming from Portuguese.

  • @arelysm actually jamaican like most others is called patwa, not creole
