  • all on board were american heros. what a story

  • I cried with joy too

  • @MrHelmyabdullah

    I cried with laughter. LOL!

  • i fucking love this newscaster just in general i want to hug him e looks so huggable

  • What a wonderful story! I find it a privilege to click on "Like" and in doing so I pause and give Thanks to God on behalf for these gentlemen.

In closing try not to cast aspersions on those who show their malcontent by clicking "Dislike" all you accomplish is too validate an endeavor of hatred for everything!

  • who the fuck disliskes the vid

  • they was kidnaped by nazis.

  • that basketball story had me in tears

  • @BayouBluesMan Yea I found it sad too:( They should not really ask people that sort of thing:(( To private I think.

  • shame on the one who disliked this video.

  • 3 people have no hearts.

  • God bless

  • Its a great story of sons love for their father. Also very sad

  • Very sad. My grandfather was sunk twice working for the merchant navy convoy's - and survived! Sadly died before I was born though.

  • Two questions: 1. Why did this skipper stay on the surface engaged in a gun shoot when a single hit from a 3" 50 in the right spot could sink the boat? Doesn't make sense. 2. One of the hatches was open which tends to backup the surface gun fight. I suspect that the sub took a fatal hit, some of the crew managed to abandone the boat and either they were picked up by the freighter and taken to a POW camp, or they froze in the icy waters. Either way, not a good way to go.

  • I am glad to have watched this video, and that they "found" their father. My father is also on eternal patrol, aboard the Scorpion SSN-589. I was 6 months old and never knew him, so this story touches me directly.

  • @Amasaman I am somewhat of a history buff and love the stories of the cold war and world war 2. I found out about the scorpion and her crew from the audio book ( i listen while driving and get more done that way ) "Scorpion Down". It tells the tale in a human way. The story begins describing the families waiting that day in the rain, for a boat that would never come in. It makes the loss more real to those who didn't live it. That story left me feeling the "hot run" torpedo story was the true..

  • @rxv995 cause of the ships sinking. After listening to "Blind Mans Bluff: The Untold Story of American Submarine Espionage", I am left to believe it was a flaw in a battery used to power the Mark 37 torpedoes she carried. The "hot run" can be circumvented by turning the boat past 180 degrees. That would disarm the fish keeping it from killing the boat which launched it. The bad thing about the battery flaw, there was no warning, no wizzing prop to warn the crew. The fish didn't even have to be..

  • @rxv995 in the tube.It could have just been in the rack. The truth is the Navy keeps track of serial numbers of everything like this, and one, some,or all of the fish on the Scorpion were using the faulty battery design. The letter about the batteries came out just around the time the Scorpion was pronounced lost.Amasaman, rest easy know your father, and the crew of his boat, did EVERYTHING right,EVERYTHING like they were trainedand EVERYTHING they could to get back home.Sorry my posts R out of order

  • @rxv995 Yes, my mother and I were waiting in the rain that day. The best explanation was done by Bruce Rule's research on the acoustic soundings. Two internal explosions, less than a half second apart, and she sank below crush depth. Between those two events, who knows what happened. Blind Man's Bluff says the boat turned around, but Bruce Rule says no. She sank straight down when forward motion stopped. That's why she was found more easterly than her path was calculated, not from doing a 180.

  • @Amasaman thank you for your families sacrifice. From one submariner to the child of another.

  • @Dan714723 Thank you for your service and the kind words. It is much appreciated.

  • @Amasaman God bless your dad

  • @coolingwater9111 I appreciate the kind words. Thank you.

  • @Amasaman may there journey be one full of joy, merriment and peaceful. i salute them as they patrol.

  • This is what I don't like about being in the submarine force, the fact that you and your family could be perfectly happy and then one morning they wake up and your gone and they don't know for how long or weather or not you'll even come home.

  • zomg this guy is the news anchor in chicago

  • this video is so sad to me well because there father is gone i would cry if my dad died

  • this video is so sad to me well because there fether is gone i would cry if my dad died

  • For the 70 men and there families god bless you all

  • God Bless and congratulations on your find.

  • From a fellow Navy Vet that has served up in NAS Adak Alaska, your father is ever on eternal patrol protecting this Great Nation. I do wish we could bring them all home. May the Great Spirit bless you & your families for your loss.

  • god bless, and respect

  • that is sad for there kids bad had die in that sud

  • Wow. This is the kind of story Charles Kuralt would have nailed. The postwar verifying that goes on between military records of the nations boggles my mind.

  • She has nice breasts.

  • Rest in Peace.

  • i suppose enough time will heal even war wounds...i'm sure that helping these men find their father lifted a great weight off of some Japanese shoulders.

  • the sub didn't just disapear, it was engaged in a battle with a japanese ship when it took a fatal blow. Read your war history my friend.

  • the sub disappeared? wow, there's a Bering Triangle!

  • @zintrigue They described in detail that it was sunk by a Japanese ship...did you actually watch the video?

  • @cchanderson Well of course I watched the video -- that's where the reporter uttered the overused word "disappeared". Maybe you need to rewatch it yourself, so you catch the part where this Japanese engagement was not revealed to Americans for years. That's often when people use the loaded term "disappeared", when they don't yet have the rational explanation.

Sorry if my mocking the reporter made you think I was a literalist when it comes to the supernatural and paranormal crap.

  • great story.

  • what the heck is the thing at 1:14? Tell me that's not the remaint of the body of the dad...that's so creepy.....

  • looks like binoculars

  • the thing ur seeing is what they would tie a rope to so they wouldnt drift away at port cuz a sub wouldnt have an anchor

  • did they recover any... bones ?

  • no and they wont ever recover any parts or corpses if its declared a grave site they dont recover bones

  • wow...amazing,after all these years.

im glad they found their dad.

    5*****

  • Cool!
