these guys sound like sweet.. same production, i think its the same singers in both groups. their not on stage tho, o.k. little willie! blockbuster, by sweet same song.
these were the days when we all sat outside the school gates at lunchtime and listen to the new top twenty on a tuesday afternoon on a little transister radio i think we got tyhe top 3 or 5 records played to us,,and on a sunday if we wwere lucky eenough to own a radiogram we could list to the to 20 countdown , by god we were the lucky ones to have lived thru it in our teen prime
got to feel sorry for these guys, glam was out of favour for too long for most of these blokes - people are probably ready to acknowledge glam as great music and a great era now but people like Les Gray are gone :(
Xmas 74 this was on the first album I was given as a 7 year old ,I remember telling a school mate I wish my name was Les White and she corrected me Les Gray ,how funny
When ever I see a road sign saying "Mud on the road " I think of the lads, they must have lived a life of travelling. As they always used to be playing local venues in Derbyshire. You could see them for a couple of Quid on a weekend. From what people are writing its the same all over the country!!!
Saw these chaps life at the Rainbow, Finsbury Park in some Christmas Show with Lulu and an audience of about 30 kids. I thought they were rubbish before saw them that night. They were excellent!! RIP Les Gray you were a legend!
@Pinupip I thought I'd seen them at the Tricorn Portsmouth around '73, but it was probably at the Mecca . Too many beers or bacardis maybe ..Thanks for jogging the memory !!!!
This was written for Hello, would have loved to have heard that...Chinnichap decided to give it to established band, as Hello hadnt had a hit by then.
I met leslie years back without knowing him !!! it was in a pub somewere in london city,? my friends and myself went in and drank some, after I saw that guy I offered him a drink to join us. he took it and we all had a ball. after he left the manager asked me if I knew him, I told him I didn't .... !!
that was the lead singer of mud ...Les Gray ... he told me and walked away.
its a short story I know but I'll never forget it.
The greatest band ever. Les and Dave will always be missed but their music is their legacy. Rob and Ray are also remembered without you two who knows what would have been. Thank you all four of you. RIP les and Dave
Songs like "Dynamite", "Rocket", "Crazy", "Tiger feet" and "The cat crept in" are still today kickin' ass!!! The good old times - R. I. P. Les from Germany!
I'm 23 and yesterday my 50 yo friend showed me this song in a pub. It just won't leave me alone, pure awesomeness. I love glam rock and I sometimes feel I'm born like 25 years too late.
@00AwesomeOne00 I'm 53 & am so glad I was a teenager in the 70's . In my opinion it was the best decade ever for music . Sounds like you were born too late but it's good to know that youngsters appreciate the good old stuff . Compare it to todays rubbish ... enough said ! Enjoy !!!
@naja46 Oh, I do enjoy. There is so much bands for me to discover. Recently I've been checking out The Sweet and Slade. And of course, I'm a huge KISS fan. All the good stuff from 70's and yet more to come.
@00AwesomeOne00 I must say that I wasn't a huge Sweet fan at the time but Slade were brilliant , like Mud were . Check out Marc Bolan & T Rex too , another legend .
There was so much glam rock around back then so I'm sure you will find loads of it on Youtube !
@naja46 Hey, I stumbled upon T Rex a while ago, they sang 'Children of the Revolution', right? That's cool too. And you're right, there's pleny of this music on YT. If only I had time to get through all of it...
@00AwesomeOne00 Yes , they sang that though it wasn't my favourite one of theirs , I really loved Hot Love & Metal Guru . Marc Bolan was really the king of glam rock , such a tragedy when he died in a car crash aged 29 . Know what you mean about having time , the amount of videos on YT is incredible , wouldn't be able to watch it all in a lifetime !
@naja46 Will do my research on T Rex and Marc as soon as it's possible. And thank you for hints, I appreciate that. It's always great to fill in a bit of this generation gap :)
@00AwesomeOne00 No problem , even us oldies have our uses sometimes ! I hope you like my suggestions anyway . By the way , back in the 70's I was a big fan of Gary Glitter too , not now though . If you don't know him , check him out on Google , not a nice man I'm afraid .
@naja46 Not so oldie yet, since you remember and enjoy those very same things you used to as a kid. Gonna check this Glitter guy, and all the best to you too!
@raunchboy Then you missed out on a lot of good music unfortunately . We seem to get all the American stuff but I never really thought about our music not getting over to you . Just out of interest , Rob Davis , the girlie one with the flared trousers , wrote " Cant get you out of my head " , Kylie Minogue's big hit . Please dont tell me that didnt reach the US either !!
@naja46 Not sure about that one, but I know she had a number of hits in this country. Just a short list of bands that were big in Britain but I only heard when Youtube came along: Wizzard, the Move, Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Slade (the seventies stuff). I never heard any of these on oldies or classic rock radio in this country. Fortunately, though, I can hear them now!
@raunchboy Wizzard was brilliant , Roy Wood was also in the Move then the Electric Light Orchestra which is one of my all time favourite bands . Have you watched Wizzard doing " See my baby jive " ? I think it's fantastic . He is a real character who still performs today . Like you , I've listened to a lot of music on Youtube which I had never heard before & will continue to do so . Happy listening !

Anyone notice they are doing the "time-warp" dance at 2:15. Is it a coincidence that Rocky Horror and this song both debuted in 1973? Me thinks not!
