Well, I think they did it in English. Neither Podolski nor Silva speak English well but I'm sure that they understand simple sentences. If they did it in German or Spanish, one of them wouldn't have understood a word.

Well, I think they did it in English. Neither Podolski nor Silva speak English well but I'm sure that they understand simple sentences. If they did it in German or Spanish, one of them wouldn't have understood a word.

The rules states that no matter what a headbutt is a red card. Podolski did confront Silva but didn't physically harm him in any way. You can look at the 2006 World Cup Final, Materazzi insulted Zidane, Zidane headbutted him and got sent off. Even though it was in part [mostly] Materazzi's, Zidane got sent off for not controlling his emotions. Same happened w/ Silva, Podolski did stand his way, but Silva was the offensor. A headbutt is a Red Card, no matter what, and Silva knew that..

Silva obviously nutted him (though it was a little weak. If you're going to do something, do it properly like Zidane ;-D)
Silva was the one in the wrong, whatever team you support. Maybe he felt threatened because he's like 3ft tall but there's no excuse for that kind of reaction, specially when you know it could lead to your dismissal.
That's letting your team down. Silva acted like a douche of his own free will.

The referee is able to judge the game. Should he not penalise Silva for fouling Podolski, Podolski should not take matters into his own hands. And because he did, because he felt that intimidating was the best way to go about it - Silva bit back ... both players are wrong. Both should have been yellow carded.

I really dislike seeing players trying to get other players sent off. I'd rather see players try to win the game with 11 v 11 rather then desperately trying to get other's sent off so they can grab an advantage.

You just gotta love headbutts in football matches. First Zidane and now Silva, just priceless. Although I was so fucking depressed after the match since I'm a supporter for Germany. They played so well throughout the tournament but lost in the finals. Godammit, when is the curse of "Germany losing every finals for the past 14 years" gonna end......
