The promoters of Muay Thai in Thailand will take many different things into account when setting up a fight: Height, weight, skill, years experience, etc. Many fights are catch weight with "Foreigners" because Thai are usually smaller, and usually more experienced. Thus, the "foreigner" is often bigger, or, an even greater advantage in Muay Thai fighting: taller. The promoter wants fair and competitive fights, especially for the gamblers that attend each event.

why is it that when European women fight asians in muay thai they seem to be taller and heavier? What happened to weight divisions?
