  • I bet George banged more chubby chicks than any human being that's lived since the renaissance

  • Live under the sky in Japan で初めて見たとき、若い私にはとても衝撃だった。

    楽しくて楽しくて、アンコールをし続けたあの日を思い出します。

  • Now this is what music sounds like....not that sampled nonsense

  • Duke is The Groove. This is crazy good.

  • This is not only a great performance but the quality is superb too .Do you have anymore from this whistle test performance. Thanks for what you've uploaded so far! :-)

  • Wow...Clarke is the master, and Duke? The same...You know, you can't take your "dislikes" back, I'm SURE if you really listened, and WATCHED, you'd change your small minds, you 4 dislikers!!! Peace

  • how come everybody is overlooking the AWESOME keyboard player, George Duke...?!?!? He lloks like in every note he plays a porn star is tickling his balls or something!! Check minute 1:57... Complete orgasm!!!!!!!!

  • I freakin' love this song. I've been playing bass in my guitar teacher's blues band for about a year and half now, and we've been wanting to move the band's style more towards jazz fusion. and performing this song seems like a good start.

Of course, learning to play this kind of music is one thing, Having the skills to write it is something else entirely.

  • this is a great performance of this tune

  • Blew my speakers out on this one. I'm still deaf from the experience. Love Stanley.

  • Such a good video and audio quality for such an old video! Like this very much!

who's the guitarist and the drummer?

  • Stanley is a bad azz. I heard him through my big bro. I was a teen and loved his bass sound. Great music etched in my mind : )

  • 素晴らしい

  • can i sound like the Rest? I LOVE STANLY CLARKE!!!! kisses,Peace,Harmony and deep bass notes,Pip xx

  • I saw them play in concert together wOw I LOVE STANLEY CLARKE!!!

  • Stanley rules! And that Alembic is sweet. Good to hear Stanley in the bass register for a change. Not sure the tenor-bass is a long term solution?

  • Thumbs up if you think Stanley is so cute on this video ^^

  • Stanley Clarke= Jimi Hendrix on bass

  • Thought George Dike was gonna get hit in the head at 1:13

  • Masters!

  • THIS IS THE VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!! OF THE DECADE...Thanks for posting this video! You ROCK!!!!!!!!! I love both Artist, and you have supreme taste in MUSIC!!!!!!!!11111

  • @trukman1991 Yes probably mentally retarded! On second thought there are those out there who just don't appreciate good music.

  • Can the build an APP for this? George can put a smile on anyones face well except Alphonso Johnson see the Red Baron video, must come from his days with Zappa. I've played with some young cats that are into jazz rock fusion and play it well, so there may be music made like this again somewhere down the road.

  • el violero es igual a messi ! jaja aguante stanley !

  • I see this band live in Bologna (Italy) 1983...Fantastic vibrations !

  • Those were golden days to be in shampoo business.

  • What I love about this is that back then, music seemed to much more about having fun! Look at that interplay at 3:00 for instance.

  • 「兄さん、何がそんなに楽しいんだい」「おまえ、見りゃわかるだろう」「ふふふ、僕も楽しいよ」

    #music #TwitMusic #itunes #art #lyrics #nowplaying #nowplayingjp #jazz

  • what keytar is duke using in this?

  • Pure class from the bassmaster

  • in case some of u dont know george duck playd keybords fo frank zappa george went to school the scool of zappa true story lol

  • I Love this Album introduced to me by the big brother of a girl

i loved... He was the coolest dude ever....

  • love the smiles they are givin each other! these guys are lovin what they do and creating such a good vibe! love my funk man!

  • Stanley is the Jeff Beck of Bass!!!

  • @fenderjones

You could say that. Jeff Beck is really good but I think Stanley is better overall. Jeff Beck has written some good music, but his compositions are definitely better than his soloing. Zappa, for one, and even Al Di Meola, among others, seem to be much better composers. Zappa solos have the most soul and emotion I've heard, his musical expression was pretty masterful overall, but Stanley is right there with him in terms of soloing, and a very good composer too.

  • Rewelacja!!! A solówka klawiszowca wymiata, ciarki mam na ciele jak tego słucham:)

  • wow!!!!!

  • Such a damn good tune! so glad my bass teacher showed me this!

P.S How the F**K can 3 people dislike this? are they mentally retarded

  • Comment removed

  • @trukman1991 Because Justin Bieber,Rebecca Black,Selena Gomez and Nick Jonas some how manage to get inside this page!!!

  • isso sim é baixista.. assisti na portugues, chapado o melhor, compositor e instrumentista, criador de todoa uma onda....jorge duke sensacional....

  • LOVE George Duke!

  • this is awesome! and the video quality is excellent!

moments like 2:37-2:42 make me love music for the expression it provides to people and the simultaneous joy it brings to them

3:25-3:28 stan gettin into it and lookin like the badass he is

3:30 makes me appreciate how much emotion george duke puts into his playing

and the look on stan's face at 4:07 just tops it off

  • @meepshizzleyams They are really playing, in both senses of the word.

  • That "fat guy" is a legend on keyboards. Check out Zappa, super technical stuff he plays

  • @uGodDamnFaggot Legend he may be, Duke's still a "fat guy on keyboards".

  • @woutertron i guess but i would never use FAT since i like the mans work, i'd rather use BIG

  • @uGodDamnFaggot

Check "Deja Vu" which just came out. He's gone back to the analog synth sound and the more technically challenging stuff that we fusionheads enjoy :)

  • Stanley> Jaco.

  • @RockstarEnergy37 thank god someone agrees.

  • Brillaint

  • This for all the people's who is up on school days, remember

  • Fat guy w keybords is the best lol

  • I started playing the bass a few months ago, and Stanley Clarke - with this track in particular - is such a great source of inspiration.

  • Old grey whistle test Yeahh !

  • I have to play the shit out of my Bass right now, thank you Stanley Clarke and band.

  • le meilleur.... loin derrière Jaco Pastorius !

juste un (super) riff et rien d'autre

  • Stanley Clarke is the Most Talentfull bassist's i ever seen Oo

  • experts.they know how to get down for real.

  • All hail Stanley and George! Great fun music...

  • I remember Stanley playing mostly Alembic Basses back in the day. He had a custom made piccalo bass, and a double neck and an electric double bass. You got to listen to Vulcan Princess by Stanley Clarke too. He composed alot of music for movies and tv.

  • back when musicians actually FELT thier music ....

  • @agent47kindalikedude back when there actually were musicians and real music period, lol

  • this is a really good demonstration of all the musicians except the guitar. the original guitar part was much longer and impressive

  • Hello everybody : Can someone tell me the model of the KEYTAR here? This funk is so intense.

  • @ForseT I'm certain that's a Davis Clavitar (a keyboard controller that predates the MIDI standard) hooked up to whichever monophonic synth George Duke was using at the time. Herbie Hancock also most famously used it.

  • @DrClaw77 exactly, thanks for your answer. this is huge.

  • What is the brass cover in between the pickups? Preamp? The one I had didn't have this feature. It didn't have the brass sustain block under the bridge either. Still sounded squanky though. I think that's the best looking bass Stanley has ever played. The short scale ones look ridiculous. One thing about Alembic..I've never seen one that didn't have a perfectly straight neck..even the early examples.

  • GReatttttttttttt!!!

  • I seen this man i concert May 2nd. AMAZING

  • Amazing talents.

  • Those where the times where people actually loved music and Poured their hearts and souls into it.

  • I pretty much hate the sound of Alembic basses. This is a firm example of my dislike. The sound of brass with strings connected to it.

  • @SquierClassicVibe35 strange , i think they sound best ...

  • @SquierClassicVibe35 I LOVE the sound of Alembic basses.

  • I watched this whistle test....sometime around december 1977

  • I just answered my own question when I actually LOOKED at the video, sorry.....

  • What happened to the rest of it? It was going so well, so smoothly, then just abruptly ended? Is something wrong with my feed, or did the song reach a limit....

  • who is the drummer??

  • 1981

  • This is AWESOME... A True Classic..!

I love that older Alembic sound...!!

    Duke is a BLAST..@^@

  • Stanley played Birmingham (UK) Town Hall in the late Seventies. He took a break while the pianist played an extended solo. Stanley was leaning against his double bass, clearly enjoying the pianist's groove when the bass slipped from his grip and crashed to the stage, breaking the neck. "Don't worry." He said "I've got half a dozen of these at home." S.C.,The God of Bass

  • Truly the Lord of Low Frequencies!!!

  • who is the guitarist??

  • @Niggl23 Ray Gomez

  • I remember watching the original broadcast of this on the BBC all those years ago! I didnt know you could play bass like that. It was one of those Hendrix-style moments where you think 'bloody hell! so THATS how you play'. I sat there just stunned for the entire performance. Great stuff ! : )

  • @gab99

Yes & stanley looks remarkably like Jimi too !!!

  • Might I introduce you to ASDR? 2:29-3:25.

  • He's just the best bass player living on earth

  • @Darkazar52 I totally agree! and sooo groovy!

  • pastorius over the word

  • Clarke>Pastorius.

  • pastorius , 100 time, i like clarke too

  • @RockstarEnergy37

Why would you even compare two diffrerent bass players that are geniuses in their own special way. I dont understand. So tired of this Musician X > Musician Y bullshit that seems to be so popular nowadays.

  • God bless George Duke's hands and taste.

    Amazing. He is my god.

  • Back in the 70's while all my frat brothers were chugging beer, dancing to the BeeGees, and acting like they loved one another, I was up in the attic/bedroom with MY faction of the fraternity and our girls..smoking really good cigarettes and grooving to the Modern Man himself -

Mr. Stanley Clarke...we scored more than the boys in the basement, I guarantee.

  • rushin it a little bit - but they can all keep up

  • oh hell yeah!¬!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Simply amazing!

  • his clavitar is hooked up to his Prophet5!!!!

  • @dhampex yeah!! you can tell it's a polyphonic synth when he plays that percussive-sounding lead, there's definitely poly envelope triggering happening. That would explain the quick preset switching too. Good call!

  • @mootbooxle man herbie did this to with the prophet but he also controlled his 8voice oberheim sem, but i miss the george duke custom minimoog keytar in plexi he did on the reach for it album and concert. He even had that thing light up!!!!

  • @mootbooxle sorry forgot,,, he has the famous prophet 5 pulsewith synth guitar patch on the beginning melody!!!!

  • the man himself!

  • when i hear this, i see my whole school memory lane passin by, great live act!

  • this is the grooviest thing iv ever heard

  • The last 2 minutes of this version of School Days is incredible. Too bad it had to end, they were just starting to cook. Stanley will always be the best bass player EVER ! Both guitar & Bass Cello.

  • my homie that turned me on to this is a big Zappa fan

  • I was into Stanley's music before i discovered Frank's music - George met Stanley after leaving Frank's band. All three are amazing musicians that took music to new places!

  • yeah, could you even imagine?? Zappa is the greatest.

  • Stanley is the FZ of bass players.

  • soo soo true

  • yea fucking A it may not be jan garberak folk solk song but it is what it is

  • you should need a permit or a license to to listen to this, because it's waaaaay too funky!

  • this is the groove!

  • thats the jam right there!!!

  • This is the grooviest shit ever!

  • Stanley Clarke is a god of the bass guitar !!!

  • the bass to the keys to the snare, yip yip jazz funk soul fusion, explosion. snap snap yeahip
