so they suffer for the rest of their lives with back, hip, and leg pain, but most show into their teens or even their twenty's, on pads? check your facts....why don't y'a ill go comment on some horse racing videos. Most of them only race for a couple of years and then they have to stop because their bodies can't handle it. makes you wonder who is the cruel ones, doesn't it? The natural way would be to turn them all out and never see them again. But that would be wrong too, wouldn't it?
People who defend this cruelty should put on a pair of high heels and wear them 24/7 and then tell me how they are not suffering. These horses are never allowed to go without the shoes and they are kept in a stall at all times unless being worked. They suffer for the rest of their lives with back, hip, and leg pain. It is worse than dog fighting!
Hideous - nothing natural or majestic about this and the rider looks like it has a pole up its behind. Wont even begin to discuss what has been done to the poor horse to make it move in such an unnatural forced manner!
It's disgusting and sad that that poor animal is forced to be paraded around in front of all those people in pain and suffering. If you truly loved that horse you would set it free or least let move in a way that is natural...If he could speak I'd bet you all the money in the world he'd ask not to be ridden in this manner.
First of all walking horses naturally do this gait the pads are just there to enhance its gait as a woman would wear heels to impress a man or a runner would wear spikes to do track and field or a football player would wear cleats. Go and do some research on how many horses have died or been hurt in 3 day eventing and cross country compared to tennessee walking horse sows. If you want to worry about pain and suffering look at the amount of race horses die every year.
What I love is how the people against padded horses never have anything to say but their opinions and illusions...while the people who support it actually have FACTS to back them up.
NYPD is a great horse and to the people who think he is not natural or freaky horses that cost one million dollars can do it easy. This is all show horse and he's GREAT!!!!!!!!
Also when horses are trained stuff is put on their feet so that they do not loose hair if they work out for a long time with the chain. Have you ever held a walking horse chain in your hand it is like a light bracelet if it wont hurt your hand it cannot hurt the horse. Its like people wearing spikes on the bottom of your shows when your doing track or wearing a watch on your arm to remind you of the time during the race. How many horses are injuredeach year in cross country/ 3 day eventing - TWH
This is a line of crap. If the chain is like a bracelet then why bother to put it on. If it does not cause any damage then why do you need "stuff" on there feet to protect the pastern from hair loss.A chain is an irritant to the horse, PLAIN, PURE AND SIMPLE.
Sell price has nothing to do with it. Horses don't move like that in the pasture. Anything that requires chains, pads or soreing to create the movement is NOT natural.
Of course horses don't move that way naturally, if they did there would not be any need for soring, action devices, stacks etc. The pain inflicted upon these horses is really criminal, for those of you who have never been around the barn, I suggest you spend some time watching the way these animais are trained. You will never feel the same way again. It is sad there is so little regard for these beautiful creatures that you profess to love so much.
This is the ignorance that haunts the equestrian world today. Walking horses naturally perform the walking gait the pads are there just to enhance the breeds movement. If you watch the way pads are put on the bands around the horses hooves are first of all loosened when the horse is not showing or working out so its hooves can have a brake and a band that is to tight would be the only thing that would give a walking horse pain.
BTW..There were 53 horses entered over the age of 15 in 2008 in one class alone at the Celebration.
You need to quit telling lies and promoting BS propaganda.
Anymore slanderous accusations out of you and I will see to it that you appear in court to prove your accusations against people and their animals they share in the videos.
I attempted to comment on your site but I do not believe it went through. I asked for the name of 15 padded horses that are showing in there 20's. I want to know the name of the class you are discussing at the 2008 celebration where 53 padded horses showed over the age of 15 in one class. I want to verify these horses have been padded that entire time. As far as my lies, everything I state comes from documents provided by the USDA/APHIS,AEP,USHS,SOUND HORSE CONFERENCE,Dr. David Whittaker,
Donna Bennfield and FOSH, mutiple publications including horse illustrated, US News & World Report, Lexington Herald Leader, Equus to name a few. I state the facts. Threatening attornies and court does not intimidate me. I did some research on NYPD. I believe this horse was trained by Tim Gray and owned by Rick Compton at one time. Tim Gray is listed on the USDA HPA site as a multi horse protection act violator. Look it up.

i feel the same. i don't care if you're soring the horse or not, it will damage good horses because they are just not meant to move in this way.
ranix721 2 years ago
I guess that is why the Tennessee walking horse has more aged horses competing than any other performance horse breed.
