  • David Hidalgo is awesome. Thanks for posting. This is a great cover.

  • Beautifuly done!!

    You guys rock!

  • Five people have no idea 'what's goin' on'.....

  • one of the great voices, for real, what a talent.

  • It's amazing to me that they can do essentially a note-for-note cover of a Marvin Gaye classic (even in the original key or close to it) . . . and yet it still sounds fresh, original and uniquely theirs! Well done!!!

  • Amen!

  • This song is called "where are we going" "what goin on" is another one

  • @therealistjm Wrong. It's called What's Goin' On. Just type the name "Marvin Gaye" in the search bar above and accompany that with "What's Goin' On," and BINGO!....Click on one of the posts, and you'll find that it's the same song.

  • thanks for posting

  • Beautiful !!!

  • SOMEHOW, through the muddy sound, THE SOUL IS LOUD AND CLEAR. David's voice and playing is a national treasure.

  • These cats are just to fucking cool!

  • That's not an easy song to sing.

  • Please, release this Marvin Gaye gem as a CD - brilliant!

  • Outstanding version by a very talented group!!!

  • This is one of the best covers I have ever heard. Los Lobos does it so very well. You can feel it.

  • I never saw this performance before...I am blown away....great job...

  • The message of this song is as true today as it was when Marvin told us, "War is not the answer, for only love can conquer hate" - thanks to the best band in america.

  • One of the best american bands out there. They can play anything

  • BEAUTIFUL! (and I miss Arsenio Hall Show too.)

  • Bass line is superb. Really makes this tunes groove.

  • they are awesome.

  • wow....great job

  • One of America's great bands.

  • Great track. Always been a shame that LL have been saddled with the band that did "La Bamba" - simply unrepresentative of what a phenomenal musical talent these guys have.

  • Tenor man Steve Berlin sounds fabulous as usual. With his classy and modest style, he has done so much to unobtrusively augment and shape the unique sound that is Los Lobos over the past 3 decades. The epitome of class....

  • Seen these guys three times in my life. Once as a kid, even though these guys went to Garfield High in East LA they played at our High School back around 82 Belmont High School. One of our music teacher had contacts with their camp. Then I saw them in the Gas Lamp District in San Diego at The Street Scene in 86 and at the Greek theatre in Hollywood in early 2k. I need another fix soon! Stay up guys. The Pride of the Neighborhood!

  • One of the first times I saw them live Irving Plaza, NYC. Lights had come up and people started to leave. They came back out to play this song. From that point one, I was hooked big time!!! Snooters: YOU MUST see them Live!!!!

  • would love to see them live someday

  • They are awesome in concert, saw them 2x once in Milwaukees' Summer Fest and the other in Grand Rapids , Mich. They can Rock!

  • dont be a dumb ass fusheeny ! we know that !

  • oK WHERE WAS DAVID C

  • their is only one Marvin ,but a nice job covering the master's tune..nice work..

  • LL best band ever...

    Think about it..

    Musically, they are a BATTLESHIP!!

    Love you guys!!

  • Oh man, these guys are so good LIVE!!!

  • @gatheringofthevibes LL are so good - period! The older they get, the better they are, too.

  • Awesome. Ice cool.

  • The so called rock hall (nominating committee hacks) never considered LL L Feat or the Doobies THese guys are so talented Saw them 4 times LL can play!!!!!!!!!!!

  • nicely done.

  • arsenio hall is to big of a square to listen to these cats play .david and cesar play way to deep for arsenio hall.theya are to kool to be on his show ,they probably had nothin' better to do

  • There's only one Marvin. But Los Lobos did this song justice. Beautiful version.

  • Los lobos got right this song right think god AAliyah and Los lobos the only two acts that nailed Marvin Gaye Most people do marvin gaye covers some decent are some are awful but thesse two acts nailed it.

  • Agreed. Davud nailed the vocals, which is very hard when you are singing a Marvin Gaye song. And the rest of the band plays it perfect.

    Well done you ol' wolves.

  • Marvin Gaye is looking down smiling, thinking: Finally, someone has got this song right.

  • Oh yeah. I couldn't agree more. Beautiful.

  • Great band always impressed. Saw them do a Beatles song with Buddy Guy on a tribute thing. total musicians.

  • i always hang out with them. their like my spanish step family. david always sings this for my mom. i get to play with them live sometimes in FLA or NY...im zack i love them. their my family and theirs alwasys tthere for me

  • I got to meet David Hidalgo a few weeks back when I was working backstage. He was nice enough to take a photo with me. These guys (Los Lobos) are incredible live. Very underrated band.

  • Wonderful song.

    Iam getting totally sentimental.

    Los Lobos are phantastic musicians.

I` ve seen them in 87 in Turnhout/Belgium and it was the best concert i have ever seen....

    Thanks soo much!!

  • "How did you know that?"

I was there. Great night. They closed with it, if I recall correctly.

  • aagcv,

They did, in fact, play this WHILE the riots were going on. They had a show at Tipitina's in New Orleans, during the Jazz Festival, as the riots were going on. They did a, at least, 20 minute version of the song. Great night, pre airconditioning, in one of the hottest rooms (on many levels, heh) in the country. Awesome show.

  • how did you know that?

  • Maravillosa Interpretacion.

  • I wanna see this band here in Frisco.

  • These guys can take any song and own it. They are the best thing going right now musically. Don't ever miss an opportunity to see them live.

  • seems like something they would do if the L.A. Riots were going on. Any one know for sure?

  • Best Marvin Gaye song, good work

  • Stop the clap track...

  • i luv these guys

  • fantastic

  • Great version. Los Lobos is one of the best pure rock and roll bands on the planet. vastly underrated musicians who cover the full spectrum. Hidalgo's voice in this song is brilliant.

  • many people do not realize the enormously broad musical reach, writing and musical talent, and stellar integrity of Los Lobos...one of the very best bands in the WORLD.

  • Great cover. Making East LA proud...

  • d most under rated band in d world

  • David Hidalgo's soulful vocal style is pefect for this Marvin Gaye classic. Shame about the audience clap-along -- not really the sort of song that warrants it, but it fades out soon enough. Thanks for posting!

  • David Hildago's voice is incredible.

  • I met David Hidalgo and Louie Perez at San Francisco Airport. They were so nice to me. This is a great version of the song. Thank you so much !!!!!

  • Tight....Great Band!

  • They play this song well. Marvin Gaye would be well happy. Thanks. John

  • Just briljant !! i feel athe pain while they singing

  • Marvin would approve ! stunning version

  • What a great Band.love them for years and years....

  • for too long I had no clue that Los Lobos had the musical talent and soul that they do. God this band is tight and this song proves again, they can play anything!

  • underrated

  • most unerrated band ever. best Marvin version.

  • David Hidalgo just transcends - what a beautiful take on a great great song. Marvin would have been proud.

  • I've seen many groups in 60 yrs. but for consistently great concerts Los Lobos is truly exceptional. I will see them again in concert this month .

  • I've seen these guys three times in my life. Right after La Bamba came out they played at our High School on the flats. That was really cool...I'm talking Belmont High and they went to Garfield. Sometime around 1984 or so. Then I caught them at a Street Scene in San Diego around 1986...again in 1997 or so at the Greek Theatre. The place was packed! They were as great as usual. If you haven't seen them live it's a must!

  • all there covers are superb!

  • david has such a great voice. I have this on tape too...it just flows as fine as wine

  • Fantastic!

  • what a truly genuine rendition, of a great song. Los Lobos has real soul. A people's band...for the people.
