is this anime any good action wise? i know its known for its comedy and i get that but is the anime MORE about comedy than action? I like fairy tail and hajime no ippo's humor, will I like this?
@Dwish305 The anime is definately more about the comedy than action, but in all honesty I love Fairy Tail as well but Gintama is my all time favourite anime. It's a lot better than other comedy/action animes as when it does action it's amazing and when it does comedy it's amazing. I can't remember one arc that went for too long or wasn't interesting. But it's like every 1 in 5 arcs are serious so just take that into consideration :)

@Krinh0 He lost because he was fighting with a wooden sword. Beast Mode + Nonlethal weapon = lame. However, I haven't seen many Gintama episodes so I don't know how strong this guy would be with an actually effective weapon.

there's is a major difference between battling while ur mental in relax mode and battling while ur mental is inrage mode. People who fights with anger,they ve more possibilities to get injured, unlike they who fights is stable mental mode.this is my point of view why gin cant win in this battle. and Jirocho is more experienced and faced lot more battle than gin. Even thought they may seem at the same par,but i cant deny,Jirocho looked a lot stronger and calmer.

@lithae you DO realise you were trolled on that episode? Did you not see how it was simply a mail order sword with some kind of epic backstory to make it seem amazingly powerful when it can break pretty easily.
In saying that, he did manage to beat Hosen with that sword.
Those commenting about his sword being wooden and making him lose- that's not the case if you've seen all the episodes. They're pretty early on, but there are some that explain why his sword is much more powerful than a normal sword, because of what it's made out of, which is not normal wood at all but something closer to diamond strength. I can't remember the details since it was so long ago, but they comment several times in the series about how if he had a normal sword it would have broken.

nope, it's an ordinary wooden blade he buys them through a catalog when they break he orders new one. This has to be like then 10th blade thats broken maybe even more. There are filler episodes that say it has powers but those are gag episodes it doesn't have any real powers it a plain old sword.
Gintoki's a true badass, get caught in cement trash can, swim with cement trash can and save the bad guy from drowning and carry him to town, then run all the way to graveyard, and fight with a wooden sword in complete rage while Jirochi had to do none of those things, gintoki would have won hands down, btw tks for uploading vid

Just look at the dialogue, "there are plenty like you out there." meaning he has faced guys like gintoki before....that and he punched him through like 6 tombstones into a wall. i honestly didnt think that Gintoki has such a feral side... sure, some of the fights in the past were vicious, but this fight... i was afraid of Gintoki!!!

Ok we know how crazy powerful Gintoki is and all but there is still this something about him is that is sooo EPIC and its Indescribable. Know what I a saying. Compared to Ichigo from Bleach and Sasuke from Naruto. Yeah we know they are strong and they will beat the other guy but Gintoki he still makes you keep wondering. Thats Crazy about this anime. That why everyone also loves it too :P

nope, it's an ordinary wooden blade he buys them through a catalog when they break he orders new one. This has to be like then 10th blade thats broken maybe even more. There are filler episodes that say it has powers but those are gag episodes it doesn't have any real powers it a plain old sword.

Gintoki's a true badass, get caught in cement trash can, swim with cement trash can and save the bad guy from drowning and carry him to town, then run all the way to graveyard, and fight with a wooden sword in complete rage while Jirochi had to do none of those things, gintoki would have won hands down, btw tks for uploading vid

Yeah, I think you all arn't giving the old guy enough credit. Gintoki lost because the other guy is strong. Just look at the dialogue, "there are plenty like you out there." meaning he has faced guys like gintoki before....that and he punched him through like 6 tombstones into a wall. Old, but not weak at all.
