how to nail what was a mediocre song, give it to a Welshman by the name of Dave edmunds and a serious blues riff and you got this :-) wow absolutely brilliant :-)
This man has considerable digital dexterity. When he lived in Monmouth in the 70s my friend BR said he accompanied Dave up the motorway in Dave's Jaguar XJ6. Dave was "skinning up a joint" while driving !!
The rocking half of Rockpile! To be fair though, Terry Williams could bang those drums! That just leaves Nick Lowe - a genius in his own right but never an out and out rocker.
I have to admit, this is the first time I have seen Dave Edminds on video since the days of Dick Clark and American Band Stand. I guess that dates Dave and I..LOL! But you know he still sounds just as good as he did then. I guess it true... Rock -N- Roll will never die!
Swedish, Boogie Woogie piano great Johan Blohm ads the perfect touch to this show. Oustanding! I actually met Dave Edmunds backstage about 1987 in Hollywood when I was a DJ in LA . I have loved him since I first heard him in the late 60s. He is exactly the style artist and talent I would liked to have become had I been a muscian. He is probably my favorite artist, which after 40 years in Rock radio is saying a lot. Thanks Dave and all for your great feeling and well done music. Gere
This is Rock N' Roll music at its best. These guys could blow just about anybody off stage!!! Aberdeen's Billy Bremner helping out on guitar, too!!! FABULOUS STUFF !!!!
I am desperately seeking the Refreshments DVD this clip is from; I found a Swedish website that has it for sale but they only ship within Sweden and I live in the US. If anyone out there has one for sale I will pay $50+ for it.
Like many of you I like both Edmunds and Thorogood very much. They are both on my number one favorite list, like Berry, Lewis, Richard and Domino. This song is lyric genial :)
HEY !!! we cant all agree, sori if i offended anyone, opinions make the world a richer place, thanks for yours, have a rockin day out there, good cheer to ya's
Actually I have to agree, George & The Delaware Destroyers have been on my hit parade since the late 70's. The weird thing is he plays in a G Tuning all the time. Great live show too.
tommyau2006 - NO !!!!!!!!! PLEASE DONT ARGUE, YOU ARE WRONG, and PLEASE dont mention george t on a dave edmunds site, have you no honour good sir !!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey, I dig both Edmunds and Thorogood. One of the reasons I got into them both was their covers of Berry songs. Edmunds approaches them more a little straight on, like the original, just with an Edmunds touch. Thorogood, puts his own spin on them, but still maintains the original spirit. Thorogood takes em and rocks them out a bit more...especially this song. Another Berry song that Thorogood absolutely tears up is Hello Little Girl. Look on here for it..its great..
@bassmangotdbluz True....love all of Daves versions.....and he puts his own subtle spin on them..... Also George Thorogood stays true to the spirit. And I like how Thorogood picks some of the lesser known songs to cover like this one, Hello Little Girl, Move It, Little Marie, etc...
This song is originally on the Chuck Berry album "Fresh Berry's" (Chess 1498) November 1965. On the same album is "It's My Own Business" (Dave Edmunds - Tracks on Wax). "It Wasn't Me" is not on any official Dave Edmunds album, but this video together with The Refreshments and Billy Bremner is superb. I have seen him live in recent years and he still got it. Go, Dave, Go!
which songs is this? it sounds like the same 'it wasnt me' recorded by dr feelgood for their 'private practice' album, and credited to nick lowe and gypie mayo. but lyrics are different
Love Dave Edmunds, where was this recored?? can you tell me?hope he come back to nj,ny soon. I just posted the trash mavericks doing this tune.they rock it NJ style
Amazing! Thank you Kingsley Amis for having a studio near Daves house, so that he may become one of the best producers of our time and a great performer too. now it's time for the Welsh revolution - Geraint & Dave with Mike Barratt playing some rockabilly - oh yesssss please
Fairly recent Dave! And there's Billy Bremner too. For me and quite a few of my close friends in the late 70s, Dave Edmunds and Nick Lowe were the best, the coolest thing in all rock and roll for a few years there. I see Dave can still cut the mustard!
I'm grinnin'. Dave did record this song but I can't remember which album (too lazy to reference my awkwardly stored vinyl collection).

A video that shows the actual playing of the instrument in question.
Checked another video of Dave and it shows the horns, drums, keys when he's soloing.....everything but Dave!
Seen him twice, years ago, looks like he can still rock out with the best of them.
This guy's my all-time hero.
