It sounds good or it doesn't, you like it or you don't. The term 'IDM' is obnoxious and wrong (try dancing to this), is never actually used by the people who make music, only by bedroom critics who don't want to say they're into 'dance music'. If someone professes a knowledge of 'IDM' it's fair to say you can disregard any of their opinions.

@arsehead2000 the term IDM is stupid lol, the most I can do to this is nod my head, *yeah, this does rule* you couldn't dance to this without looking totally retarded, you'd have to be able to move at super speeds, lol. It's too fast lol. Just like a lot of IDM I don't find danceable in the least.

I suck at math, I'm good at writing and making music, I'm not the most intelligent person on earth yet I can appreciate Squarepusher, Autechere, and Aphex Twin, and other IDM bands.

@LySeRgIa2 chill out, its just a way of categorising things, yes its never 100% accurate but thats the way the world works. and yes you can dance to this, you'd just have to drop it a very forward thinking forward thinking drum&bass night. and you'd have to be a respected dj who had really got the crowd on their side. people would skank to this, but most likely you'd have to play the first half. ending is insane!

@LySeRgIa2 Actually, DnB is a double-tempo genre. Historically, the double-time beats were played over normal-speed reggae tracks. The proper way to dance this is at half the expected tempo, which is usually around 85-95bpm.

@conzor9898 i'd like to see some one actually dancing to idm, the beat in most idm songs is too fast to really dance to, but that's only one of the problems, the real problem is "IDM" intelligent dance, doesn't have a danceable sound. Compare this or Aphex Twin's music to EDM like Powder Pussy's Breathe and Transmit or E.B.S. and really tell me what makes you want to dance and what you can logically dance to.

I love IDM, but none of it is danceable.

@LySeRgIa2 I've danced to IDM, it's crazy as fuck, you go everywhere, and it's absolutely amazing. It's more of a seizure form of dance but it is actually amazing to do. You can dance to anything if you try hard enough. With mdma you can dance to anything. Even to the sound of rain

However, I doubt anyone not chemically influenced would find it so easy to dance to this, or idm in general. With "dance music" you shouldn't have to try as hard, when you have to think of a way to approach it, does it really deserve the label of dance anymore. It's not that danceable, you needed help, "With mdma, you can dance to anything, even the sound of rain"

Not sure what the right technical term is for it, but I've always appreciated the use of the stereo field with his bassline starting at about 0:44. Really great in this track.

No, actually I'm just an idiot. I had thought "Chosen Lords", and both of "The Tuss' " albums were more recent. His last release was in 2009, which was "Warp20 (Classics²)".

I apologize for my ignorance. I still disagree with your original comment though; he (RDJ) has been touring extensively for the past two years, and a few months ago he announced that he will be releasing a new album under his pseudonym "Aphex Twin", for the first time in 5 years.

lolno. APhex invented modern ambient, modern idm as we know it, as well as half a dozen other subgenres of music. His influence has been profound, far greater than any other artist in the past 20 years. You obviously know nothing about his work, probably listened to two songs then crawled back to the only other idm artist you've ever heard of. SP is great; RDJ is god-like.
