  • Dang, he's going picasso on that thermal paste

  • yeah, lather it up in thermal paste... mmmm baby yeah.. just like that

  • Cool

  • love eberytime he says "is..."

  • TNX

  • I love you man.....you are so SMART. :))))))

  • Thanks buddy, I really appreciate your work. I have enough background now on how to assemble a desktop.

  • How come newer cases have the Power Supply Unit placed along the bottom, yet the older ones (like here) tend to be near the top? Heat rises right, so wouldn't the top be better? To immediately get rid of the heat produced by the PSU.

  • @PTNLemay Because warm air from the CPU gets sucked into the bottom fan on the power supply.

  • @PTNLemay It's also much more convinient, nice looking and practical ;)

  • I dropped my new hard drive (a sick Western Digital Black) off my desk the other day. I had mounted it in a SATA external drive case, and I wasn't familiar with how to secure it yet... It fell 75 centimeters (2 and a half feet). And amazingly it runs just fine.

DO NOT try it at home though, I may have just been lucky. That, or WD makes solid stuff.

  • umm duuude what's a graphic card?

  • @lilbigbrow

It's a card you plug into the motherboard through slots known as "PCI" or "PCIe". A side of the card shows through the back of the computer, and there are ports on this side. Usually VGA or HDMI, things like that. You plug in your monitor into one of these.

Most motherboards have the same thing built into a microchip (called a GPU), so the computer will still run without a graphic card. But games and stuff run better with a dedicated card.

  • this guy has his facts wrong phenom ii cpus has 2 memory controllers ddr2 and ddr3.Intel only has a ddr3 controller

  • @I3ettyCrocker I think he was sarcastic.

  • I think you need more thermal paste -.-

  • lol god that thermal paste

  • 4:30 "a little bit on the top" LOL

  • can't I have DDR3 with AMD?

  • @fbvrc The vid is from 2008, sure you can now.

  • @sub4sheet I have another question: does corsair make good RAMs?

  • @fbvrc I'd take the cheapest because RAM is basically RAM if it has same speed & timings. But sure, Corsair is a great brand and you'll be fine with Corsair RAM.

  • good work

  • This video saved me from frying my hard drive

  • Its good man.... Nice work

  • excellent.. full marks to you..

  • You should buy the same type of ram for all slots unless you know what your doing. Also, some CPU Coolers come with preapplied paste. Don't add any paste if that is what you have.

  • Good - abit outdated but how can you stay in touch these days. Just so people know - not taking a stab at the guy but people should know that he forgot to set the jumper on the HD so that it boots. Although it's too much paste on cpu, I would rather have a little too much than not enough and try to spread it evenly. When you install ram, it should be noted he put one in the 1st slot of the green and one in the 1st slot of the orange. Other vids will show you the ram install if u need it.

  • @HiddenOrForbidden Do you know of any up to date vids?

  • skip to 3:14 to skip all the info about the parts if u just want to get sraight to it

  • Hey I've got an MSI mobo! Mind = blown.

  • phenom not pheeeeeeeenom

  • good one

  • I love the way he explained everything he was doing and using. I'm taking a pc repair course now. Haven't gotten to the practical part yet but looking forward to it. He makes look so easy. Great video!!!

  • Helpful, informative and well delivered. This is a great vid, especially for one making their first computer. It explained the different components but just scratched the surface of building a computer. I hope there are more vids.

  • and a laptop is the same just smaller pices

  • to much is better than to little! its not permalloy conductive!

  • 8 people dont know the inside of a pc

  • It's a miracle it turned on

  • but one question, you do dual channeling by installing the ram in the same colour or am i a bit wrong?

  • @Flamable3000 I think so, I was wondering, if you only have 2 sticks yeah just put it in the same color

  • @Flamable3000 you put the ram in the opposite color

  • good tutorial, nice job, but only a little much thermal paste =P

for the rest its very good

  • Holy thermal grease batman.

  • Nice tutorial thanx!

  • "And push the power button... and it... and it..."

  • Your also supposed to NEVER put computer pieces on a carpet unless yo want to destroy them.

  • @aquateenI16 Its very rare

    Did it without problems

  • um excuse me sir....you never put force down on the CPU.....you let the retention plate do that....no finger pressure needed......GOSH!!!!!! haha....

  • To all of the trolls out there. The video is named "Learn to Assemble" which gives the general idea of what to do/what to consider. Of course, once the main idea is taken in to consideration, further factors can be considered....The guy is just doing his job, teaching people who don't yet know. I study computer science and have had a knack for computers since i was a toddler. I think this man did a brilliant job...Be thankful people like him offer videos to retards like you.

  • XD yay that processor is gonna be cool 4 a long time with that amount of thermal paste XD . u just need 1/4 of that and use ur credit card :D

  • very infomative ....nice video thank you ,

  • Hmm, easier than I thought... :D

The only mistake is the excessive thermal paste, and if i'm not wrong, the quantity of thermal pase can't be superior of the size of a small pea.

  • satan cabel!!

  • Good vid. Never thought of the CPU socket thing

  • it doesent matter if amd supports ddr3 now or not. overall basic idea of the video is what new rookies get from it - basic build up.

  • AM3 Mobo's Suppurt DDR3, this video is almost 2 years old so take it for what it is guys

  • I enjoyed the video immensely. Thank you. I do think, however, that the speaking speed is a bit fast. I had no problem understanding the speaker's accent, but there might be others who are unable to understand the speaker because of the accent and the speed. Instructional videos should be crisp and immediately understandable. The speaker's accent and speaking speed get in the way of these two objectives.

  • COOLORFULL RAM SLOTS LOL

  • I LOL'd when I saw the number of comments about the thermal paste.

  • The man doing these videos for us the viewers. He is not getting paid for this.I just wanted to say thank you.

  • too much thermal paste

did not mention the motherboard stands

  • holy shit! the jumper of harddisk is wrong!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The ammount of thermal paste will insulate the CPU against getting the heat out. Just because he has a tube of it he feels that he has to use it all.

  • and your a dush....

  • your crazy, that much thermal compound will raise your temps like hell...

  • @LFCforEver12341

It's not going to do anything, it's just a waste.

  • @Daputti a ok :)

  • holy sh*t the amount of thermal compound..

  • This is maybe the clearest video tutorial I've watched so far. Thanx!!

  • Thanks for the informative video, you just told me in 10 minutes what my teachers take months to let me know.

  • AWESOME vid make more please subbed

  • thank you but i think you only stole this video or you just a fake but atleast i have a little info.

  • that was WAY to much thermal compound...

  • worst video ever

  • why he is putting this glue thing on the proccessor?

  • @Nightfox92 It's thermal paste to conduct heat away from the processor. He used WAY too much though. A pea sized amount is enough.

  • @drummerkid1993 Yeah I had to put some on the inside o my 360 on the GPU chip and I only used a Pea Sized amount. It is really ALL YOU NEED.

  • @Nightfox92 it is thermal paste, it help transfer the heat from the processor to the heatsync/fan to keep it cool(and he used too much of it)

  • Too much thermal paste and ram dimms are not on dual channel mode. Same colour = same channel = dual channel... Different colours = different channels = single channel

  • And I was nervous as hell about building my rig. This made it 70% easier. A joy! :D

  • taking into account that this was madwoman in 2008 that is why he was saying amd uses ddr2 nowadays it's ddr2 and ddr3 depending on ur budget andbid ur a casual pc user or a gamer or extreme gamer

  • informative...ddr2 is just 4 amd's??? wo...

  • very informing video

    5/5

  • nice vid.. much newer than the last 1 i saw..

  • nice video to assemble pc

  • TheHughDixon, in these days you only need to worry about the motherboard: get one from £120 and higher and most of the graphics cards will have a PCI connector which your motherboard will certanly have. :))

  • i need help guys will any graphics card fit into any motherboard?

  • thats alot of thermal paste lmfao

  • dude, u made me lmfao, i had to rewind the video to watch it, because i fast forwarded. that was funny

  • much thermal grease ;p

  • I have a AMD phenom 2 x4 955 CPU but for some reason my stats dont go higher then 800.1 MHZ x4 I think my BIOS is the prob but can someone help me please?

  • what is it he's saying? can't you use DDR3 memory for AMD Phenom II x4 955 ???? :O

  • yeah man this guy piled the Paste on LOL. I was told about a peasized amount.

  • you put ALOT of thermal compound on...

  • How could i determine that weather i need a heat-sink or not for my quad core cpu ?? Pls help im a bit confused..........Is it that i always have to get a heat sink with quad cores??

  • @ankitnegi2000 reply 1 year later...

    Every cpu needs a haet-sync.

  • Fucking noob video maker learn to build pc and no fucking funstoff omg the fucking warmpaste

  • Does the Heat sink already have thermal paste applied or the little tube comes with the CPU?

  • the thermal paste will be provided with the heat sink you buy, then you will have to apply it manually.

  • shut up u retards, hes just doing what he knows. he provided the vid at least. be grateful. Thx ill try it.

  • Good one

  • im going to college and im learning computer engineering. fun stuff

  • hahahahaha....maybe the system unit is just too easy to assemble that you can do it the WRONG way,,,,,,

  • NO. he installed the ram the wrong way. in order to get dual channel facilities he must install both the same ram in same color coded slot.

and yap, his pc started. but his ram amount will be showed half of what he installed.

  • so, i suggest you visit MSI's website and start looking for the manual of this motherboard, through a little googling i discovered that this is MSI's P7n Diamond board, look for the manual and scroll down to the memory mounting page. You'll see i'm right ;)

  • by the way, he mounted the ram the right way, i got the msi p7n sli platinum wich is very similar to this one, the green banks is channel a, and the orange banks are channel b. so he mounted the ram the wright way

  • what a dick, he pressed onto the cpu after installing it, it bends the pins you stupid!

  • what lol

  • should have mentioned abt led pins and jumper setting of HDD

  • worst tutorial I have seen:

    1. thermal paste wrongly applied

    2. ram wrongly installed

    3. no cable management

    4. DVD and HDD should be instaled in the slots first, then conected to power and sata

    5. I`m amazed the pc started.

  • Wtf dual chanell shouldn't be in the same colored slots ???? Cuz i got on my mb same color slots and my dual channel rams are near eachother..

  • and 2much of thermal paste.....

  • @mindell1122

    ...a lot too much...! *lol*

  • surely i agree with "Prence"..... and forgot to explain the sit-on's ,

  • cool.... nice work

  • This guy needs a lesson in cable management.

  • What about the fans? Does he have any on that?

  • he installed the ram the wrong way, he was supposed to match colors not have them in different ones

  • He did match the colours?

  • Could mention somethin bout wire management, but still a pretty good video

  • thanx man dis realy helpd

  • i thought of upgrading my PC but was confused on motherboard attachingt to ATX and crap like that... this video kicks ass... thangs

  • Probably the best video on assembling a PC you will find on youtube.

  • This is a much better how to video than the one I just watched.. I wish I had watched this before I built my first computer years ago, would have helped me out so much.. One thing that was missing was the host telling people to use a Antistatic Wrist Strap which should be used when the average person builds a computer.. Better safe than sorry..

  • omg if his computer works it will be a miracle cuz he wasnt grounded lmao.

  • The host wasn't grounded. In this can you can damage everything inside the case if you create static. Always be grounded!

  • i just notice he was in an antistatic room thats why he didnt have any wrist thing on and the computer/ powersupply was plugged into the wall and turned off while he was working on it.

  • wow he put WAY to much thermal paste and then there was some on the stock intel....not good

  • lol yea ur right

  • rofl, always mroe is good i read ina book
