I've always thought Archer is one of those unfortunate authors who wont be appreciated until he's dead...or at the very least recieves a fucking good kicking.
2nd try by anderson for some response "you lacked convictions when you were younger, do you have any convictions now your older" so jeffrey what are they then. Acher replies " yes younger people lack convictions...." not even saying about himself now "... and as you get older you do develop them" not only didnt tell us again and he wasnt even in a rock and hard place situ but he dosnt even admit that he himself has convictions, he avoids truth on lil things, is to disguise the big lies?
trying to read an on-line article on archer that said when he delivered his novels to his publisher, they had to hire someone to rewrite them so they they made sense and were so poor, but the article deleted. i watched some clips of him on utube and you just know he's totally twisting the dialogue to make him look like a lad in prison, when he was most likely locked up on numbers for safety. can u tell me the show where they did his biography through his eyes, comedy, so funny, do u know title?
Does anyone else remember a short story by Daphne Du Maurier having a very similar idea to the one that Archer 'stole'? it was in the same collection of short stories that 'The birds' was in.
If I were famous, I would certainly not agree to be interviewed by this self-advertising buffoon. Was he a failed stand-up comic? Were people supposed to come on the show and talk about their work or was the show just a vehicle for Anderson's smart-arse gags?
Jeffery Archer is brilliant. At the moment I'm reading false impresson which is about as good a thriller as you can read.Cain and Able and all the rest of his books are well worth a read.
@hippotoast You don't know what you're talking about. If I ever got hold of you I would kill you.And I mean I would Kill you.Top you, murder you,cut you're bloody throat sunshine.
they broke the mould when they made Jeffrey Archer... although come to think of it , no they didnt because EVERY Member of Parliament is a lying , cheating , cunt....
something polly's could talk about. Check out the convolution in the Wikipedia article List of Law Enforcement Agencies in the United Kingdom. Talk about an obvious need for a bureaucratic revamp. And I thought us Aussies were bad!
have you ever read ARCHER's books...everytime I see one in a bookshop I go and scratch the cover or tear pages so no one buys them...what a horrid Englishman
Anderson is not a good interviewer. He pokes too much fun at his guests. When he applied his style in interviewing the Bee Gees they let him have it and suddenly walked out. Clive looked like he swallowed an egg. Some time later Alan Partridge (AKA Steeve Cogan) literally tore him apart over his interviewing style. I never seen an interviewer put down so easily on his own show.
I remember watching this show, it was the tail end of the Tory era even if there was 6 more years to go. The slease of those last 6 years was sick, but no different than New Labour where\are. Clive could have stuck the knife in deeper when one thinks about what Private Eye wrote about Jeffery. He didnt need to as Archer was a dickhead. Clives show was great at the time as there was mostly rubbish on then, but in hindsight better than the shit on British TV today.
Archers got quite alot of convictions now!LOL I've never read any of his books but I have had "Kane and Able" recomended many times and will eventually read it! He is supposed to be a excellent author!
Ha ha Lol "thats me being Brutal" says Clive ; Archer is another example of a fucking criminal cunt who can get away with anything because of who they know and even if the are 'punished' their 'punishment' is like ordinary folk's holidays ; like people like Jacqui Smith now
This guy's a super crook! (like some sort of charecter from the Adam West old Batman TV show he even looks a bit like the Riddler!) Jacqui Smith would need to go some to catch up!
That's right. And of course you have to ask yourself the question - was - or could - Jesus have been a member of Queen. Or any other group come to that.
I know this is deep stuff but if jesus was a queen bee I think we should be told.
Jeffrey Archer is one of those unfortunate people who arent appreciated until they're dead, or in Archers case a bloody good kicking at the very least.
If ever a man deserved the title of 'liar' - this guy is it. He so typifies the 'Tory' of that era that were so nauseting they were beyond parody. He finally got jailed and God, he deserved it!
I've always hated this odious reptile. I well remember watching him being 'slit up a treat' by Anderson. It's great to watch him squirming in discomfort once again as Anderson easily deals with his pathetic attempts at retaliation.
The great thing about Clive Anderson is that he tells it like he see's it. He doesn't pathetically fawn over his guests a la Jonathan Ross. His mind is so quick witted. My fave bit of the Archer interview is "i've read some of your books and they're not quite as bad as people make out"
Having just seen Clive on Have I Got News for you, I checked this out. He's a brilliant interviewer who is both quick and thick skinned enough to poke fun at someone very po-faced, smug and clever with words. Well done. His Bee Gee interview is also on Youtube, and I can only assume Barry Gibb was in a funny mood before the show - Anderson was only teasing him yet he over-reacted and sulked throughout the interview before storming off. Maurice obviously didn't have any problem with it.
Dunkiep: The problem with the interview with the Bee Gees is that there was stuff going on prior to the interview that nobody knows about: the Bee Gees (including Mo, he was equally angry!) didn't want to go on the show in the first place, because they didn't want to be ripped apart. Then they heard that Clive was a big fan of theirs and that he wouldn't rip them apart, yet he did. Obviously they got angry. Clive could've treated them with a little bit of respect.
But isn't that the whole point, though? People like Clive Anderson are there to stick a pin in the pompousity of celebrity. Could the Bee Gees have been any more arrogant?
As for being a brilliant interviewer, I respectfully disagree. I don't think he's very interested in what his guests are telling, and he's just trying to be funny all the time...
Interesting insight into the Bee Gee interview - it seemed as though there HAD to be a reason they were touchy - can you shed anymore light on it? As for Clive's interview technique, I can agree that he's looking for opportunities to have a dig at his guests' expense so he can get his gags in, but for his viewers, that was what they switched on for. Obviously, that's gonna rub a few people up along the way, but that's showbiz!
Dunkiep: Maybe you watched the Youtube video of the Bee Gees & Clive Anderson. If so, I suggest you google "Clive Anderson Bee Gees", where you will find the entire video. Note that Barry doesn't seem to be in a bad mood at the start and sort of tries to go along with Clive's jokes. Only about halfway does he really get irritated.
Maurice talked about the show afterwards, you can find the interview on google too.
Ahh , that explains it . Only a nonce like you would lust after Archer. Get back in your section before I come round and give you a good old fashioned nonce bashing on the stairs you cunt.
Anderson: "you were not a conviction politician, have you got any convictions now"
Did Anderson have a crystal ball? Archer was later convicted of perjury. He epitomises the very worst of british politics. He is a lying, cheating, arselicking, adulterous, superficial waste of space. Ringo Starr met him in the 60's when Archer got the Beatles to promote Oxfam and Ringo said: "He strikes me as a nice enough fella, but he's the kind of bloke who would bottle your piss and sell it".
Have you got any convictions? lol you can tell clive really doesn't like him because he's not joking when he's joking and he's being polite as if to appologise for wanting him to die horribly. the old jokes are the best ones (best) yes i've read your books. nice
"You weren`t a `conviction politician.`" No - more like a "Convicted" politician. Lord Archer - Lord my ass. I`d never want the accolade "Lord" placed on my shoulders. I suspect St. Peter would take an extremely close look at anyone who came before the Pearly Gates with the title "Lord," before their name !
I don't think so. I don't think Clive was ever wanting to be a Johnathan Ross character. I love Clive and i love his interviewing style, why should he waste his quick wit by just asking that ahole stupid questions. Clive is a legend.
Anderson's cynical sense of humour wears thin after a while which is probably why he has not been a big name on television for many years now. Archer's career, on the other hand, despite his prison sejourn, is on the up and up. So I guess it is last laugh to Jeffrey.

I think Archer is a fraud and he is contemptible. But Anderson is no better with snide jibes - he is not a nice man - a little man who hasn't any talents as far as I can see.
He is obviously very self-assured & probably conceited as he is a barrister originally as a profession so presumably is very intelligent but Archer, if anyone, deserves his snide jibes & at least Anderson isnt, as far as ive heared, or has been proved is not a liar or crook
I read one of his novels a few years back, and it was a very good thriller; just as good if not better than much of the dribble out there, (though not necessarily memorable). But that's why he's a millionaire; like it or hate it, truth or lies, he can write.
Why on earth did Archer come on a show hosted by a wit like Clive Anderson? I think it was Archer who was 'ill-informed' to even come on a show where he'd get parboiled by Clive, and quite rightly too, as history has borne out.
I've always thought Archer is one of those unfortunate authors who wont be appreciated until he's dead...or at the very least recieves a fucking good kicking.

Archer seems to think he can turn the crowd to his side by making catty remarks towards Clive.

Love Clive's one liners: "There's no beginning to your talents" and "I've read your books".
